The three P’s of Public Speaking Facilitator Kees Broos Duration 2 days Short description Most people feel generally uncomfortable to speak or express their ideas in a clear and per- suasive way to a larger group. Conveniently, it is labeled “the fear of public speaking”. Contrary to what many think public speaking is a skill that can be taught, learned and improved. In this two-day workshop we will touch on the importance of at- taining public speaking skills, find ways to feel more comfortable to speak or express ideas to a larger group, develop strategies to turn fear into a compan- ion and have fun in extending our comfort zone in the field of oral communication. Following principle “Hear and you may forget, see and you may remember, do and you will acquire” there will be a lot of interactivity with lots of exer- cises to grow and nurture your confidence. The three P’s: prepare, practice and present will be dealt with in different ways. In a world where the written word is starting to ap- pear in many forms of social media, the value of oral communication is in danger of being overlooked. The spoken word, however, expresses emotion, sincerity and is often accompanied by gestures. A voice is as unique as a fingerprint. Voice modulation cannot be replaced with the written word. Learning goals Participants will understand the importance of competence in public speaking. Participants will be able to implement tools to grow their oral communication skills. Participants will feel more comfortable with oral presentations and as a consequence will grow as a person.
