XIII It has been nine, no, ten years since the phrase Time Traveller had been last uttered. And yet, although it may seem wasteful and time-consuming, I have been coming to his house and waiting for his return every day for the whole ten years that he has been gone. It has gotten so obsessive that I even follow a regular routine- greet the servant at the front door, eat the lunch that I pack, smoke a cigar or two, and walk back home disappointed that the day had been wasted. Despite all those years that I have been waiting, I have never heard back from the Time Traveller until one day, when I finally understood.I received an invitation from the Psychologist which called me for a group meeting. What was unusual about his invitation is that he did not indicate the matter in which was to be discussed. Later I discovered that he only invited two people- myself and Filby, which I find queer because I have always loathed him, and surely the Psychologist grudged him as well.

Nonetheless I attended. On the day of the meeting, I went up to the Psychologists door and knocked three times. The Psychologist answered my knocks with a rather impatient reaction.

You must come quickly, said the Psychologist as he welcomed me in, for I have news to share.I followed him to a dark and dim room that had a horrible stench. There was a small square table and four chairs, and the only available light source was a single candle. I had seen that Filby was seated in the corner, and the Psychologist was already settling, so I swiftly took a chair and sat myself.I recently received, and I find this very odd indeed, an envelope and a package from the Time Traveller, began the Psychologist. I have not yet opened it, so I am curious too. He then gingerly opened the envelope and took out what it seemed to be a letter. The Psychologist unfolded the piece of paper and began reading. To my supporters,If you are reading this, then it has been ten years since I made my second journey to the future. You are probably curious of my whereabouts, so I will tell you yet another incredible story. As you may have known, the purpose of my second journey was to save Weena. But shortly after I activated the time machine, it suffered a brief malfunction, and I was forced to pull the lever back. Thus, I had only traveled a few years into the future. I tried to reactivate the machine, but it never responded. It was completely immobile, dead as a rock on the hard lab floor. At once fear built upon my mind. I knew then that if I couldnt repair my time machine, I would be stranded in this time from now until my death. But soon fear quickly died away, for when I stepped out of my house (still in good condition) and went outside, I was struck with amazement and was literally stunned by what I was seeing at that very moment. It seemed that mankind has advanced more than I would imagine. Tall buildings emerged from the ground all the way up to the skies, some almost reaching the peak of the hill. Many dazzling lights of beautiful colors shone brightly even against the bright, blue sky. At first this was hard to believe, but then I started to investigate.I soon learned that I have traveled to the year two-thousand eleven A.D., a year I thought civilization would never get this advanced. I learned that not only architecture advanced, but science, technology, and culture had progressed as well. I have discovered many new gadgets, such as the light bulb, the calculator, the television, and- my personal favorite- the iPod. I have also discovered other interesting features to this era. There are places where you can buy fast food, there are machines that give you money, and there are parks that are for amusement.Humans in this era have not evolved greatly as the ones I observed in my last journey. They are slightly taller, slightly larger, and certainly more intelligent than us. They also apparently speak English (at least, the humans that lived in this city did). And yet, although they have invented many of the appliances that I marvel at, they havent discovered the principles of time traveling, which I consider to be very strange.Even though this era may have been very interesting, I had not forgotten the objective of my mission, which was to save Weena, so I rebuilt the time machine (which took me only one year, for the humans of the new era had the most abundant source of material), traveled to the year Eight Hundred and Two Thousand Seven Hundred and One A.D., saved Weena again from drowning, and brought her back to this era. Thus ends the story of my whereabouts. I have decided to abandon my life in your time and live in this era with my little friend. I am truly sorry if I cannot share this experience with you, but I can send you an item from this future, which I had wrapped in the package that was sent to you.I am afraid that this is the last time you will ever hear of me. I assure you that from now on, you will refer me as the true Time Traveller. The letter ended with the Time Travellers signature. After the letter was read, there was complete silence in the room. Then Filby broke the silence telling that the letter was probably a joke from the Medical Man. I insisted the Psychologist to open the package, and he immediately tore the package open. The contents were as followed- another note from the Time Traveller and three boxes labeled Trident. The note read Gum- for eating, chew slowly, do not swallow. We each took one of these, and for the rest of the day, I stayed at the Psychologists house. As I walked home, I reflected on what had happened that day. I gazed upon the stars wondering if those will be the same stars that the Time Traveller will be gazing upon. I finally decided that the Time Travellers stories were all true. I then thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to try out the gift that he has sent me. So I took out the package, ripped the top off, grabbed a piece, unwrapped it and popped it into my mouth. It tasted great.
