• Try to answer the following questions while you are watching.

Who’s to blame?Argue or persuade!

• At the time of the Titanic sinking there was a lot of blame being shifted between people. Everybody was blaming everyone else for the terrible disaster.

What is the difference between arguing a point or persuading someone to believe your point of view? Discuss in your groups and give a group

answer back to the class.

Choose one and think of 3 ways to persuade us it wasn’t their fault.

Research and Interview.

You are going to research and then prepare an interview between yourself and one of the people mentioned on the previous slide. You must make sure that you give details of the sinking and put your point of view as to who is to blame for the incident also.

You will be using the App –

Planning your letter is very important.

Remember to answer these important questions in the planning phase.

1: Who am I writing this letter to?2: Why am I writing this letter?3: What do I want to achieve from the letter?

The structure.• My address in the top right hand corner

• The date, in full, beneath that. (Leave a line.)

• The title and address of the person I am writing to underneath the date on the left

• The greeting

• The Reference (Why are you writing?)

• Opening paragraph

• 3 paragraphs of reasons, persuasion or back-up for your point)

• The conclusion

• The Salutation

• Your Signature

• Your title and name in full
