Standard SPN type A distribution boards are available in six

sizes with a choice of 2, 4, 7, 10, 13, or 16 outgoing ways. DP

versions of type A distribution boards are also available having

5 or 8 DP outgoing ways. A wide range of incomers can be

fitted to allow for the flexibility needed in modern installations.

Split load and dual tariff SPN type A distribution boards are

available with up to 19 outgoing ways.

They comply fully with BS5486:Pt 12 & 13 and BSEN60439-3.

INCOMING DEVICES

100A lugs; 100A SPSN switch-disconnector; 100A SPSN

RCCB. For full range of SPSN RCCBs suitable for use as

incoming devices see page 65.

an even wider choice of incoming devices.

OUTGOING DEVICES

For type A distribution boards: 1-63A Memshield 2 SP MCBs.

FEATURES

Distribution boards of equal width can be stacked vertically

without any other accessories. They can be electrically

connected to give more outgoing ways by using a connector kit

(see page 60).

Memshield modular control devices can be fitted by using a

busbar block kit to adapt the busbar (see page 60). AM13,

AMSL64/37 and AMDT74 distribution boards can be mounted

on top of any type B distribution board. A clean earth kit can

be used for computer installations (see page 60).

DOUBLE POLE DISTRIBUTION BOARDS

Memshield 2 double pole distribution boards have been

developed for specialist applications.

They allow for single pole and switched neutral MCBs to be

fitted on all outgoing circuits which is necessary for the control

of circuits situated in hazardous areas.

SPSN or DP MCBs and SPSN RCBOs can be fitted.

FUSED COMBINATION SWITCH INCOMERS

TPN type B distribution boards are also available with a choice of

fitted TP or TPSN FCS incomers. The FCS incomer uses MEM BS88

fuses, which allow the unit to be fused from 2-125A. This is a benefit

for applications where the load may increase in the future, as the FCS

can be re-fused accordingly.

The exclusive use of MEM fuselinks in this equipment will extend thewarranty period to 3 years.

These distribution boards comply fully with BS5486 : Pt 12 and

BSEN60439-3.

SPLIT LOAD BOARDS

Split load TPN type B distribution boards are factory fitted with a

main 100A switch-disconnector and a 30mA RCCB. Please consult

our Technical Services department for details of other incoming

device options.

MODULAR ENCLOSURES

Memshield 2 modular enclosures can be used to house Memshield

2 protective and command devices. Enclosures are available to

house from 2 to 45 x 18mm modules in moulded or metal

construction up to IP55.

Up to three Memshield 2 type A pan assemblies can be fitted into

an enclosure.

To select a suitable enclosure, select the devices required and

calculate the amount of 18mm modules required, then select the

enclosure that can accommodate at least that many 18mm modules.

BMX 15 module enclosures can be mounted onto AM13 or any

Memshield 2 TPN distribution board. Distribution board accessories

e.g. door lock kit are suitable for use with BMX type enclosures.

BMXDC enclosures are fitted with earth and neutral bars as

standard. Additional earth and neutral bars for 30 and 45 way

enclosures are available for specific applications.

Metal enclosures will accommodate all modular devices, ie;

MCBs, RCCBs, RCBOs, fuse modules and command devices.

Moulded enclosures 4/6 QEL, 4EME and AM1SL will not

accept RCBOs.

4EME will accept command devices and TPSN RCCBs only.

CABLE EXTENSION BOXES

Cable extension boxes are for use with larger cables or for special

applications e.g. metering, etc. They can be fitted top and/or

bottom. All 200A type incomers include a cable extension box

where necessary.

All enclosures and extension boxes can be fitted top and/or bottom

of distribution boards in any quantity.

Memshield pan assemblies offer a high degree of flexibility for

custom applications.

SPN types are available with 4, 7, 10, 13, and 16 ways. DP types

with 5, 6, 8, 12, 18 and 24 ways. TPN types with 4, 6, 8, 12,16

and 24 TP ways.

Where the switching of outgoing neutrals on 3 phase pan

assemblies is required, eg: for switching circuits in hazardous

FEATURES

Memshield 2 pan assemblies are suitable for inclusion in other

factory built assemblies and as replacements for distribution board

interiors. Pan assemblies feature fully shrouded busbars. The

busbars can be connected by using a busbar connector kit. SPN

distribution boards can be adapted to take modular control devices

using a busbar kit to adapt the busbar, see page 60.

The MEMSHIELD 2 Surge Protective Device has been developed

specifically for application with Memshield 2 ‘A’ Type and ‘B’ Type

single and three phase MCB distribution boards, ensuring outstanding

product performance for all sensitive, mission critical and general

purpose loads. The UL1449 Second Edition and UL1283 listed devices

provide high peak surge current ratings and exceptionally low real-

world measured limiting (let-through) voltage values, together with

outstanding durability, assuring the Memshield 2 range will provide a

UNIQUE BUSBAR BLOCK KIT

Memshield 2 type A SPN distribution boardsoffer the installer unique flexibility.

By using a busbar block kit a standard type Adistribution board can be adapted on site to accept Memshield 2 DIN-rail mounting control devices as well as MCBs. The kit includes ashorter busbar, to replace the standard busbar, which simply clips tothe pan assembly, plus a mounting rail for the control devices.

Use of a busbar block kit can mean that a conventional extension boxfor control devices is unnecessary - saving the installer time and spaceas well as providing the user with a neater more compact installation.

The number of ways indicated in the table are for outgoing MCBs,remaining ways in the distribution board can be fitted with control devices.

Eg:- 10 way type A board = AM10, fitted with MMBK4 willaccommodate 4 x SP MCBs plus up to 6 x SP control devices.

The Memshield 2 MCB is an all new high performance

current limiting device with the ability to disconnect short

circuits of up to 10kA.

The feature packed device is both British designed and

manufactured, using the latest technology.

Memshield 2 miniature circuit breakers are available in one

of the widest ranges available in the world; over 600

different types are available.

The MCBs are suitable for use with Memshield 2 distribution

boards. In addition MCBs are suitable for a wide range of

OEM applications.

Current ratings are available in 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13, 16, 20,

25, 32, 40, 50, and 63A. The range is available with types

B, C, and D, in single pole (SP), single pole and switched

neutral (SPSN), double pole (DP), triple pole (TP) and four

pole (FP) configurations.

On SPSN the switched neutral is unprotected, on DP and FP

all poles are protected.

SPSN MCBs are fitted with neutral contacts which make first

and break last.

FEATURES

Memshield 2 MCBs are available with a breaking capacity of

10kA to BSEN60898 & BSEN60947-2.

They are suitable for use on DC systems from 24V to 120V;

fault level at 24V = 6kA; 120V = 4kA.

NOTE: When a residual current pod is added to the MCB (see

P63) to form an RCBO, the combination is suitable for use on

240v AC systems, it cannot be used on DC systems.

The MCBs are calibrated to 40ºC.

MCBs can be supplied with 50ºC ambient calibration. To order

FUSE CARRIERS

The Memshield 2 fuse carrier range uses high performance MEM

BS1361 type HRC fuses capable of disconnecting short circuits of up

to 16kA.

The fuse carriers and fuses are both British designed and

manufactured, using the latest technology. The protection of circuits by

Memshield 2 fuse and carriers is particularly applicable where circuits

exhibit high inrush e.g. high frequency lighting. The fuse carriers are

suitable for use with Memshield 2 SPN and TPN type distribution

boards. In addition fuse carriers are suitable for a wide range of OEM

type applications.

Current ratings are available in 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, and 45A

ratings. The range is available as SP devices only.

FEATURES

Memshield 2 fuse carriers feature a fully shrouded contact mechanism.

Each unit is supplied with a 240v fuse fitted, and facility for a spare

fuse, which can be contained within the fuse carrier.

REVOLUTIONARY!

The Memshield 2 RCBO combines the functions of an RCCB and an

MCB. The unique, revolutionary design allows hundreds of RCBO

possibilities within a module as little as 18mm wide. This allows a far

greater number of devices to be fitted into a distribution board.

All the features of the standard MCB are maintained but with the

added flexibility of residual current protection.

Memshield 2 SP RCBOs are suitable for use in any Memshield 2

distribution board.

Due to the unique method of construction any Memshield 2 SP orSPSN MCB can be fitted with residual current protection.

So for applications where a SP 63A type D MCB with 300mA time

delayed residual current protection is required MEM have the answer!

A new version of the residual current pod is available for use on 110V

50/60Hz systems.

ADDING EARTH FAULT PROTECTION TO YOUR MCB

There are three options each complying with BSEN61009:

1 Choose from the standard ready assembled range of RCBOs

incorporating Type C MCBs.

2 RCBOs factory assembled to order; select your MCB followed by the

earth fault sensitivity suffix from the relevant table. Remember any

SP or SPSN MCB can be fitted with earth fault protection.

Example: MDL150R100 = 50A SP Type D MCB factory

assembled with 100mA residual current protection.

3 Field fittable Residual Current (RC) Units; an RCBO can be

assembled on site. This provides two benefits: Previously installed

Memshield 2 SP & SPSN MCBs can be upgraded to include residual

current protection, also stock of SP & SPSN Memshield 2 MCBs

previously supplied can be upgraded to include earth fault protection.

Example: A field fitted MR30 will convert any SP or SPSN MCB

into an RCBO with 30mA residual current sensitivity.

NOTE: SPSN RCBOs must NOT be fitted in TPN type B distribution

boards. SPSN RCBOs are limited for use in DP versions of type A and

type B distribution boards.

To guarantee discrimination with downstream residual current devices

any upstream residual current device should be time delayed. The time

delay period is between 150-400mS.

The wide range of Memshield 2 devices are complemented by a

range of dolly padlocking devices.

For MCBs, RCCBs, RCBOs, and MCCBs the device mechanism is

trip free which allows it to be padlocked ‘ON’ for security, but in

the event of a fault condition the device will still operate to

disconnect the fault. The device dolly will move to the tripped

position when the dolly lock is removed. These devices can also be

padlocked in the ‘OFF’ position.

NOTE: Distribution board doors can be closed when an MCB is

padlocked ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’.

COMB BUSBAR

Comb busbar is available for specialist applications and can be

supplied in both pin and fork type formats.

Fork type comb busbar can be used with all Memshield 2 MCBs*

and TPSN RCCBs. Pin type comb busbar can be used with all

Memshield 2 MCBs, fuse modules, switch-disconnectors, terminal

blocks SPSN and TPSN RCCBs.

NOTE: Due to a height difference TPSN RCCBs cannot be

inter-connected with comb busbar when mounted in combination

with other devices.

Memshield 2 RCCBs offer a tremendous range for installers.

Units are available with ratings up to 100A and sensitivities

from 10mA to 300mA time delayed.

These units are the first to conform to BSEN61008.

FEATURES

The SPSN electronic unit is capable of sensing DC components

in the supply, in accordance with BSEN61008. Generous cable

capacities of up to 50mm2 (TPSN with adaptor fitted. 35mm2

without adaptor) are provided. The SPSN devices will trip to a

central position under earth fault conditions. A flag indicator

shows positive contact position via window above dolly. The

RCCBs can be installed in a variety of enclosures (see page 57).

All SPSN units are suitable for 240v 50/60 Hz applications.

All TPSN units are suitable for 415v AC applications and also

have comb busbar facilities.

Memshield 2 command devices allow increased flexibility for

both distribution board and OEM applications. SPN

distribution boards can accommodate command devices by

using a busbar block kit. Command devices can be

accommodated in modular enclosures. In addition all devices

BELL TRANSFORMER

Devices can accommodate from 4-12v secondary from a 240v

AC primary supply. The AA2BT is not suitable for isolation duty.

TIME SWITCHES

Devices are available as analogue (dial) type or digital (LCD)

types. Quartz stabilised devices have a running reserve time of

150Hr and a recharge time of 70Hr. Digital time switches have a

running reserve of 150Hr, and a full recharge time of 140Hr. All

time switches have 1 c/o contact per channel and are suitable for

switching 16A resistive, 2.5A inductive loads at 240v 50Hz. For

higher rated loads time switches should be used in conjunction

with MEM Autoline heating & lighting contactors.

CONTACTORS

Memshield 2 modular contactors are available from 16A to 63A,

and from SP to FP. Devices are suitable for AC1 (general heating

& lighting loads) applications. All devices have N/O contacts.

Note; when several contactors are mounted it is advisable to fit a

blanking module, List no. MBP, every 2 contactors.

IMPULSE RELAYS

Memshield 2 modular impulse relays are available with 16A

N/O or C/O contacts. Impulse relays are often a suitable

replacement for contactors where low switching duty and low

energy consumption are important.

TIME DELAY RELAYS

Memshield 2 modular time delay relays (staircase switches)

are suitable for delay ‘OFF’ applications from 30 seconds to

15 minutes. For use on loads above 16A AC1 devices should

be used in conjunction with a suitable MEM contactor.

SWITCH-DISCONNECTORS

Memshield 2 18mm modular switch-disconnectors have a similar profile to

Memshield 2 MCBs and conform to the requirements of BSEN60947-3,

100A 240/415v AC22B. Positive contact indication is also provided.

Terminals are box type allowing cable capacity up to 50mm2.

SPSN switch-disconnectors have neutral contacts which make

first - break last.

TERMINAL BLOCKS

Memshield 2 18mm modular terminal blocks are suitable for a wide

variety of uses. They can be used in outgoing circuits in place of a

Memshield 2 MCB or RCBO to tap off to other devices or boards.

Terminals are box type allowing cable capacity up to 50mm2. Suitable

for type A and B distribution boards.

This Memshield 2 MCB is current limiting in design with the ability

to disconnect short circuits up to 6kA.

The feature packed device is both British designed and manufactured,

using the latest technology.

The MCBs are suitable for use in a wide range of OEM type

applications. In addition, MCBs are suitable for use in Memshield

2 SPN and TPN distribution boards.

Current ratings are available in 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13, 16, 20, 25, 32,

40, 50, and 63A ratings. The range is available with Types B, C, and

D, for SP, SPSN, DP, TP, FP pole configurations.

On SPSN the switched neutral is unprotected, on DP and FP all

poles are protected.

SPSN MCBs are fitted with neutral contacts which make first and

break last.

FEATURES

Memshield 2 MCBs are available with a breaking capacity of 6kA

to BSEN60898 & BSEN60947-2. The MCBs are normally

calibrated to 40ºC.

MCBs can be supplied with 50°c ambient calibration. To order insert

‘X’ at the end of the MCB list number eg:- MCL116X

■ SP MCBs can be used in type A distribution boards.
