Media applicants are to work in the following areas: Media planning Media buying Strategic planning Market research Advertising account planning 2. Teams must be comprised of any combination of two people from the above areas. 3. Entrants agree that the winning work of the UK Young Lions Competition may be available to Katine to incorporate into their upcoming marketing campaigns. 4. Shortlisted Young Lions Media teams will be asked to undertake a five-minute presentation to the judges, date to be confirmed. 5. Please clearly mark ‘Media’ on the outside of the package. 1. Please see specific details on composition of teams, for each category.

2. Entrants must be UK residents or have a valid UK work permit – please call Nisha Ashra on 020-3353 2084 or email [email protected] to discuss your eligibility, if you are not sure – participating in the industry and be 28 years old or younger, ie born on or after 27 June 1980.

3. Young Lions submissions must be original work created by the entrants.

4. By entering the competition, participants agree that they are able (should they be selected) to take part in the Young Lions Competition at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, which takes place on 21-27 June 2009. Winners are responsible for having their own valid passport. If any permission is required by workplaces for attending this festival, it should be obtained prior to entering the UK Young Lions Competition 2009.

5. The prize is the chance to represent UK against up to 40 counties in the Young Lions Competition, which takes place at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, 21-27 June 2009. Judges will select three teams of two: a pair from each of the categories, Media, Print and Cyber.

Winners will receive a complimentary Young Lions 4 day registration to the festival, which includes: • All seminars held during the first 4 days of the Festival• View all Promo Lions, Direct Lions, Media Lions, Cyber Lions, Design Lions, PR Lions, Press Lions,

Outdoor Lions, Film Lions, and Titanium & Integrated Lions entries• Listen to all Radio Lions entries • View the Promo Lions, Direct Lions, Media Lions, Cyber Lions, Design Lions, PR Lions, Press Lions and

Outdoor Lions shortlist exhibitions• Listen to the Radio Lions shortlist• Exclusive access to Master Classes in the Young Lions Zone • Promo Lions, PR Lions and Direct Lions Awards Ceremony on Monday night• View the Promo Lions, PR Lions and Direct Lions winners• Media Lions, Outdoor Lions and Radio Lions Awards Ceremony on Tuesday night• Young Lions’ Party on Tuesday night• View the Media Lions and Outdoor Lions winners• Listen to the Radio Lions winners• Press Lions, Cyber Lions and Design Lions Awards Ceremony on Wednesday night

Winners will also receive return flights to Nice and accommodation, as booked by Guardian News & Media. The prize is non-transferable. No cash alternative is available.

6. The judges’ decision is final.

7. Entrants can make more than one submission into any category.

8. All entries must be received by Guardian News & Media by Friday 6 March 2009, 5pm.

9. The winners will be contacted by phone or email in April.

10. All entries must be sent in with the relevant entry form. See guardian.co.uk/canneslions for the entry forms.

11. All entries must be submitted in hard copy format (with the exception of Cyber entries) to:
