This year’s ASH conference, the 55th Annual Meeting and Exposition, will be held December 7-10, 2013, in New Orleans. The UT Graduate School of Medicine annual update occurs as soon as possible after the ASH conference while allowing time for our featured speakers to develop unique presentations combining their areas of expertise with new information garnered from the ASH presentations. This course is designed for physicians treating Hematologic Oncology patients. Physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and pharmacists are also welcome to participate.

Course Objectives At the conclusion of this program the participant should be able to summarize current and ongoing study results in patients with hemostasis/thrombosis, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and malignant lymphoma and discuss recent advances in the optimization of therapy for these patients.

Accreditation The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Education CreditsAMA: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA: American Academy of Physician Assistants accepts Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award from organizations accredited by the ACCME. The AAPA has complete reciprocity with the ACCME.

ACPE: The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for

Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Successful completion of this application-based program will provide a statement for five (5) live contact hours credit (0.5 CEUs) and will be mailed within 3 weeks following the program. Successful completion includes attending the session, signing the attendance sheet, and completion of the program evaluation form.ACPE Program Number: 0064-9999-14-006-L01-PGrievance Policy A participant, sponsor, faculty member or other individual wanting to file a grievance with respect to any aspect of a program sponsored or co-sponsored by the UTCOP may contact the Associate Dean for Continuing Education in writing. The grievance will be reviewed and a response will be returned within 45 days of receiving the written statement. If not satisfied, an appeal to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy can be made for a second level of review.

CEU’s: Non-physicians can obtain continuing education credits by attending activities that award continuing medical education credits to physicians. Each AMA PRA Category 1 credit hour translates into one-tenth of a general CEU. This activity is designated for up to 0.5 CEUs by the University of Tennessee using the national standard that 1 hour of educational instruction is awarded .1 CEU.
