  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

INTRODUCTIONhis guide is designed to help you learn the proper ways to play a Ranger in Aion, as well as all of

the steps for leveling, PvP'ing, obtaining the various skills you want, and everything else related to playing as one of the game's most lethal characters. Also, we will be covering both races (Elyos and Asmodian) in this guide!

    T

By the end of this guide, you should fully understand everything there is to know about the Ranger and also have a good understanding of the differences between Asmodian and Elyos Rangers (although there is not much difference between the two).

Please keep in mind that although you may already know a lot about the class and the game, this guide is going to have a lot of newbie information in it as well. This guide has been written for both new players and experienced players, allowing everyone to benefit from the information contained within!

    Now let's begin.

    POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

n this section we will look at both the positive and negative aspects of the Ranger. Sadly, where there

is a good aspect there is always usually going to be a bad one to go along with it. Although you may know some of these (being that you chose to play the Ranger), some you also may not. Feel free to skip this section if you desire.

    I

Please note that these are in no particular order.

    The Good

Able to kite (more information located throughout the guide)Good damage on skillsBoth snares and damaging skillsAbility to attack from a distance

    The Bad

Somewhat low damage with normal attacksMust purchase and carry arrowsLow defenseIn the beginning you are stuck with melee!

    DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ELYOS AND ASMODIAN

here really are not many differences between the two available factions in terms of

skills. There are only a few skills that are not the same between the two, and of course there are two different leveling areas and worlds they come from.

    T

As we go along we will ensure that the differences are noted. If you see the text that looks like [Difference] it will let you know there is a difference between the two races. In this area, it will explain the two races and how they differ from one another.

LEVELING felt leveling would be a great area to start with on the Ranger, being that you are looking for not

only information on the class in general, but also in progression. This section will be split where necessary to reflect the differences between the Elyos and Asmodian factions. Later (in the Abyss) they will merge together for a more mixed leveling perspective, but for now we must split them up. To do so, we will go based on levels, and then split based on the faction.

    I

Of course, the first area we will discuss is going to be the starting areas for levels one through ten. Please notice that after these beginner levels we will start listing only the areas and quests themselves and will not go in as great of detail as we are in the beginning. This beginning section is here to let you get a better feel for how to progress through the game. We will, however, list the various areas you should end up at and what levels you should be at those points. As you get to higher levels you will be running back and forth between areas a little (or a lot) so we will be going based on the quest starting locations rather than the ending locations. This should greatly assist with giving you the information you need.

GeneralOne of the hardest parts of getting to level

10 and becoming a Ranger is that you start out having to play as an Assassin. You do not obtain any of the Ranger (bow) skills until level 10, after your ascension. This first section is going to deal with the Assassin techniques since there is no other choice at this point.

Before we start, let us take a look at power shards.

    Power Shards

Power Shards, while useless to some classes, are of a great help to the Scouts at low levels. The Power Shards add 10 additional damage to each of your hits, and this can be seen as priceless, especially during the questing or killing high level mobs.

A very important thing to keep in mind when using Power Shards is that you will not be able to afford to spam them. They are not cheap and should be used only when necessary.

If you are playing this scout as an alt character and have a lot of Kinah on your main already, feel free to go Power Shard spamming. It does boost your attack power

by quite a bit, allowing you to level and progress significantly faster than if you were not using them. The only downside is the cost.

    Break Point The Cities

Once you have hit level 10 and have ascended, you will be in your capital city. There are many things you will want to do while you are here, and many places you will want to visit. It is a very good idea to get to know the area before moving on with your leveling. Not to mention there are many quests you can take part in while you are here!

Note : Elyos goes to Sanctum and Asmodians go to Pandaemonium. They do have pretty much the same areas, but they are in different locations and they have different names.

Before we move on, let's take a look at the coliseum and how it works, as well as the benefit of it.

ColiseumsThe coliseums in the two cities have

different names but essentially the same exact function. Their goal is to assist you with learning how to PvP, without the risk of experience loss or anything else. When

organized, this can be of great help to your team, and can also be used to better prepare yourself (and your allies) for sieges and mass PvP's against your enemy factions (Balaur included).

How this area works is that it is pretty much a flat out free-for-all PvP zone. When you are inside, you are against anyone that is not in your party or alliance (this means Legion members are also your enemies, unless grouped with you). Anyone who is an enemy will be seen with a red name, making the organization of group-versus-group PvP extremely easy.

While you are in the coliseum you are also able to use the same PvP markers you are able to use out in the general world (such as main target, sleeper, etc.), giving a true sense of real PvP without any risk involved.

In order to enter the coliseum you must speak to the NPC outside the gate. He will then teleport you in and you may be attacked. Note that there is absolutely no spawn timer, and as soon as you enter you are already in combat with your enemies.

Flying is allowed in the coliseum, so you are able to practice flying while PvP'ing. It has the same rules as outside, however, where you are unable to fly for more than 60

    - 12 - www.killerguides.com

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

seconds (without special items) and it must regenerate before using it again. Just keep in mind that the coliseum is a closed arena, so there is not a lot of room to fight in. Regardless, it will help learn control of your character during flight. Especially as a Ranger, this is extremely useful.

Upon dying you will be teleported out of the coliseum and put right back next to the NPC that you entered through. Speak to him again and you can teleport straight back into the coliseum again. Note that you spawn with around 30% of your health and mana (even if you were at full mana when you died), so you may want to regenerate some before re-entering (if you plan on actually trying to PvP).

    Questing

Questing is a great way to level because you get guaranteed rewards after the quest(s) are complete. This helps because one may have an item you wish to obtain, or maybe you just enjoy the story line associated with the quests. This is by far one of the most popular ways to level up.

The problem with questing comes in after you run into an area with many others working on the same quests. Many times you will run into other players who need the same mob as you do, the same quest items, etc. and do not wish to share.

The game does have a system set up for players who wish to quest with other players, however many people would rather go solo (at least at the lower levels) due to wishing to complete their levels as fast as possible.

If you do wish to group with others and they agree, items will be shared on a 50/50 basis (assuming there are two players, 33/33/34 basis with three, etc.). This makes everything go very smooth when questing because it allows all players to be finished within one mob of each other.

An example to better illustrate this is if you have two players who each need 5 items from Mob A. You are both grouped and so you assist each other on killing Mob A to speed up the killing process. Player 1 gets the first item, Player 2 gets the second item, Player 3 gets the third item, and on until everyone has all of their quests items.

    - 13 - www.killerguides.com

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

The reason this system works exceptionally well is because it keeps one player from ninja stealing off everyone else's work and then moving on without them. With this system in place it helps keep everything organized, friendly, and smooth.

But this is also the system's downfall. Once you get to an area with people who do not wish to share their quest items, you will be forced to either compete with them for the quest mobs or you will have to just sit back and allow them to complete their quest first.

As a personal recommendation, in cases like this it is best to take a small break (say for a drink of water, or to use the restroom) while you wait for them to finish their quest. This helps everything run much smoother because it keeps one player from getting aggravated and griefing another (read the section about griefing for more details).

    Grinding

Grinding is going to be an inevitable part of playing Aion. No matter how many quests you do, and no matter what other plans you have, you will at multiple points be forced to grind.

During grinding (for experience or items) you will want to drown out the dullness by doing something else at the same time. Watching a movie while you go into zombie mode seems to help quite a bit. By the time your movie is over you will have already made (hopefully) quite a bit of progress, and it keeps you from being burned out too fast.

An alternative to doing the grinding is to make an alternate character and swap between them every once in a while. For example, when you get to a grind-only area on your main, make an alt and play one hour on each and keep swapping off. This will allow you to break from the grind by doing quests (on the alt) and still be progressing on the main. The only real issue with this is that you level slower than normally, but to some it keeps them from playing for 30 minutes and quitting for the day due to boredom.

Another alternative choice you can make is to find others who are also on the grinding part you are on, and work out a deal to swap off who is playing at the time. This does not require account sharing. You can group with the other player and let one follow the other while they do the killing. This is especially useful if you have two others as you can split the time equally. For example, A, B, and C are all grouped together. B and C auto follow A

    - 14 - www.killerguides.com

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

for an hour while he kills mobs. Then A and C follow B for an hour while he kills, and on and on. This is highly effective because there is an experience bonus while playing in groups with other players, and it allows you to all keep leveling nonstop. Not to mention there is absolutely no risk of having your account stolen because you are not sharing the information with them!

    Asmodians

    Leveling Guide from 1-10

From the Asmodian starting position your first step is going to be familiarizing yourself with your user interface. If you have any confusion or want more details about the UI, please look in the appendix of this guide.

When you are familiar with what is going on, you will want to look at your hot bar. The default setup is okay for most players, especially being that there are not many things on it at the time. If you do feel the need to move things around, I prefer to put my best (strongest) skills on the left side of the bar, the buffs on the top bar, and things like Bandage on the right side of it. This makes it much easier when playing the game with a keypad!

Now you're ready to start the journey!

Your first step here is to speak to Asak to start the quest "Loyalty of the Raiders." Next, move north west to speak to Vandarnt. Speak to him to complete the quest "Loyalty of the Raiders" and then pick up the quest "The Sprigg's Revenge." The mobs you need are the Sprigg types just to the west of the NPC. Slay 4 of these and return to Vandarnt to complete "The Sprigg's Revenge." You should now be level 2! Vandarnt also gives you a new quest - "The Sprigg Report."

Continue along the road until you reach Guheitun's Tent. Here you will want to speak to Guheitun to complete the quest "The Sprigg Report" and then speak to Vanar to get the quest "For the Love of Fruit." Go directly north of the NPC's to find a small area with many Spriggs. In this area (inside the gates) you will also see Fruit Baskets. Grab 5 of these and return to Vanar to complete "For the Love of Fruit." He will then give you the quest "Sight for Sore Eyes." Go straight north again to find the Hill Sparky's for this quest. Slay these and loot them until you have 3 Glowing Spheres. Then return to Vanar to complete "Sight for Sore Eyes."

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

Vanar now gives a new quest named "Vanar's Flattery" and you also receive "A New Skill" automatically.

Continue along the main path towards the south west. When you go across the bridge you will be in Adelle Village. You will also receive a new Campaign, "Captain's Orders." Your first step here is to speak to Ulgorn to complete "Captain's Orders." This also unlocks more quests: "Thinking Ahead," "The Search for Rae," and "Memento Mori." Speak to Tobu now to complete the quest "Vanar's Flattery."

Speak to Kaindal (he wanders around) to get the quest "Idle Hands." Go to the south west part of the village and speak to Bacorerk to pick up "The Shinier the Better." Go north to Urd to pick up "Urd's Request." Go north and speak to Boromer to continue "Thinking Ahead."

Head over to your skill master (depending on your class) and speak to them to obtain 250 experience. Speak to them again to learn your new skills. Buy the book(s) for the skill(s) you are able to learn and double click them while they are in your inventory to learn them. Then open your skill menu (Default button is K) and drag them to your hot bar.

Also, if you have not done so already, speak to the Obelisk and choose to bind to this location.

When you are finished with all of the above steps, go out the north west gate of the town and speak to Nobekk. Get the next part of the quest "The Search for Rae" and also pick up "Angelica for Health and Wellbeing." Exit the town and go north west. You will end up seeing a NPC named Bolir with a blue arrow over his head. Speak to him to start the quest "Love in Bloom."

The Ampreh Flowers can be found right by the NPC, in the water. Pick up 6 of these. Also slay the Airons (birds) in the water. You must kill these until you loot 6 feathers. As you wander around, also pick up the Angelicas you find. Keep picking them until you are at Collecting level 15. You also need to slay the Web Slinks and loot them until you get 5 Slink Oils. You will see Sprigg pens here too. In them you will find bags of "Sprigg Grain Sacks." You need to pick up 4 of these.

When you have finished all of the above steps, go back to Bolir to complete the quest "Love in Bloom." Then speak to him again to get "A Heartfelt Confession." Move to Negi,

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

right beside him on the pier, and talk to her to get to the next part of "A Heartfelt Confession." Return to Bolir and speak to him to complete "A Heartfelt Confession."

Head back towards Aldelle Village. On your way, stop by Nobekk outside and speak to him to complete "Angelica for Health and Wellbeing." Up the hill from him, speak to Boromer to start the next step of "Thinking Ahead." Go north west and speak to Urd to complete the quest "Urd's Request." Continue south to speak to Bacorerk to complete the quest "The Shinier the Better."

Exit the village and head back out to where you got the Sprigg bags from. Now you want to slay Sprigg Gatherers. You need to kill 6 of these.

Get on the main path of the area and follow it south west. Keep along the path and you will end up entering the forest and seeing NPC's. First speak to Motgar to complete "Idle Hands." Speak to him again to pick up "The Insect Problem." Speak to Dabi to get the next part of the quest "The Search for Rae." Speak to him again to get the quest "Token of a Lost Love" and then again for "Sap for Leather." At this point you should be level 5!

From the NPC's head directly south west to find Grove Sparkys or west to find Sylphens (depending on which you chose for "The Insect Problem." You need to kill 10 of whichever you chose. When you have all 10 return to Motgar to complete "The Insect Problem."

Directly south east you will find Shell Snufflers (you can target them from the NPC's). Kill these and loot them until you get a "Shiny Silver Ring." Return to Dabi to complete the quest "Token of Lost Love."

Go south west of the NPC's to find a small area with many Strange Rabbits. Speak to Verdandi here to continue "The Search for Rae." Next, head to the north west and slay the White Foot Darus until you have killed 7. Return to Verdandi and speak to her. Go straight south of her and you will see a Sticky Mushroom by a tree. Grab this and speak to Verdandi again. This time she will teleport you somewhere else. Go straight ahead and speak to Hagen. You will fly around and then land and be brought back. Speak to Verdandi again. Talk to the Cute Ribbit on the ground next to where you are to continue this quest. Speak to Rae (she spawns after you speak to the frog).

Now use Return to go back to Adelle Village. Speak to Boromer to complete "Thinking Ahead." Speak to Ulgorn to complete "The Search for Rae." Speak to Dalor to complete "Sap for Leather." Speak to him again to pick up "A Delivery of Leather."

While you are in town, it is a good idea to get any spellbooks you may need (up to level 9) as well as empty your inventory of useless items (to the NPC) or shop if you need to.

When you are ready to continue, go to the Flight Transporter (Sheofin) and choose to fly to Anturoon Crossing.

Your first goal here is to speak to Mijou to continue "Teaching a Lesson." Speak to Mijou again to get "Food Thieves" and then again for "Checking on a Friend." Speak to Derot to continue "Memento Mori" and then again to get the quest "Up to No Good." Speak to Denma to complete the quest "A Delivery of Leather" and again to pick up "Brax Skin Rug."

Straight north west (right across the path) are Fang Karnifs. Slay 9 of these. Return to Mijou to complete "Food Thieves."

Go straight south of the NPC's to find the Brax's. Slay these and loot them until you get 8 Brax Skins. Also, move south to slay the Eyvindr Peons and Sailors until you get the Logbook of Eyvindr. After you are done with both of these, return to Denma to complete "Brax Skin Rug." Speak to Derot to complete "Up to No Good." He will now give you "Delivering the Pirate's Journal." Speak to Lidun to complete this quest. He will then give you "Treasure Map." Travel to the very south area of where the pirates were and you will see a ship. Follow the path to it and go to the middle. On the small square platform on the ship you will find the Map of Eyvindr. Use this to obtain the Treasure Map. Return to Lidun to complete this quest. He will now give the quest "Black Opal." Go south west from the NPC's and you will see a cave in the ground. Go into this and slay Carak Steeltooth if he is up and then loot the purple Jewel Box. If you do not see it, wait for it to spawn. Return to Lidun to complete this quest. You are rewarded with the "Treasure Hunter" title after completing this.

From the NPC's, follow the path west. You will be going up a large hill and you will run into some NPC's. Speak to Alfrigh to pick up the quest "Alfrigh's Request" and then speak to Devalin to obtain "As Much as You Can Carry."

Continue along the path to the north and you will end up in a large plantation. Keep along the path and you will hit an area with a ridge ahead of you. You must choose to go right or left here. Go to the right. Just up ahead you will start finding Gray Mane Sentinels. Slay these and loot them until you obtain 5 Odella. You will also find Dandun Pails here. Loot these until you obtain 7 Odella Juices. When you have both of these item types, go out of the plantation back to the south and speak to Devalin to complete "As Much as You Can Carry." Then go back east to Mijou to complete "Teaching a Lesson." Speak to him again to get "Hit Them Where it Hurts."

Make your way back to the plantation. When you pass under the very first walk-through area, look directly to your west and you will see Iron Ore. Collect this until you have 5 of them. Now head into the plantation and obtain 7 Mau Grain Sacks from the same area you got the Odella Juices. Go back out of the plantation to the south and speak to Alfrigh to complete "Alfrigh's Request." Then go back east and speak to Mijou to get the next part of "Hit Them Where it Hurts."

From the NPC's, this time follow the path to the north. Stay on the path and straight ahead you will see Jephani. Speak to her to obtain "Captain's Secret." Continue along the path to find Ere and speak to him to complete "Checking on a Friend." When you enter the Prison Camp you will find lots of beetles, "Grave Sparkles." Slay these and loot them until you get 5 legs. Next, venture farther in and slay the Vengeful Ghosts and loot them until you receive 4 Treasures of the Deceased. In the same area you also need to slay Thorny Hair Amphis' until you get 3 thorns. It is easiest to target these by using [Tab] because they are hidden in the ground. When you have all of these return to the entrance of the Prison Camp and speak to Jephani to complete "Captain's Secret." Now return to Anturoon Crossing and speak to Derot to complete "Memento Mori." Speak to Derot to move to the next step of "Treasures Within Treasures" (you obtain this automatically after you reach level 8). Speak to Mijou to start the quest "The Robbery Plot." (Note : If you are not already level 8 you need to grind some mobs to level up so you can accept these two quests!)

Make your way back up to the Prison Camp and go inside. As you look around you will find many tombstones. Open them to make ghosts appear and slay them until you

loot a Cube of Magic Power from one of them. This drop is random so keep killing until you get it. When you get it return to Anturoon Crossing and speak to Derot to get the next part of this quest.

Return to the Prison Camp and this time follow the path to the farthest north you can go. As you continue you will end up in an area with walls. Continue north and up the hill here. At the top, in the glowing pink orb thing, speak to Munin. This will continue "Treasures Within Treasures." Speak to them again to start "A Demanding Request" as well. The Grave Sparkles can be found just below where Munin is, so you do not need to go far for those. Return to Munin after you obtain 3. Afterwards, go to the entrance of the Prison Camp and kill Woods Sparkys until you loot Sparky Eggs. Then return to Munin and choose "Here are some Sparky Eggs." to complete "A Demanding Request."

Return to Anturoon Crossing and speak to Derot to complete "Treasures Within Treasures." Use the Flight Transporter to fly to Aldelle Village. Speak to Ulgorn to complete "Hit Them Where it Hurts." This will automatically start "The Abyss Gate." Speak to Ulgorn again to continue with that quest. Go just south west of him to speak to Hephe to get the next step of "The Robbery

Plot." Now go to the far north part of town and speak to Nobekk to continue "The Abyss Gate." From here, either fly back to Anturoon Crossing or use Return (if it is ready).

When you get back to Anturoon Crossing speak to Derot to continue "The Abyss Gate." Go west of the NPC's now and speak to Alfrigh to complete "The Robbery Plot." Also pick up the quest "A Good Tonic" from him and then speak to Devalin to pick up "Pearls Before Swine." Hear north into the plantation and go to the end of the path and take a right again (like you did before). Here you want to hunt Gray Mane Fighters (to loot for Mau Adornments), Dundun Farmers (Dried Ginseng Roots) and Dundun Sentrys (Dried Ginseng Roots) until you get 8 of each of the two items. When you have them all, exit the plantation and go back to the NPC's south of it. Speak to Alfrigh to complete "A Good Tonic" and speak to Devalin to complete "Pearls Before Swine."

Time for the last trip to the plantation! Make your way up there and this time instead of choosing to go to the right, take the left path instead. Follow this to the very end and you will end up in a cave. Continue until you find Nalto and speak to him to continue the quest. Follow the path and you will run into a split in the road. Go north (not

to the right). You will end up in a cave. On your left right after you enter you will see Rae. Speak to her. Go in and move left to talk to the Green Power Generator, then back behind you for the Blue one, and then up the hill to your west for the violet generator (there may be a mob here. If there is, slay him before getting it). Then speak to the Ishalgen Abyss Gate. You will go through a cutscene and then return. Run back to Rae and speak to her again, and then use Return afterwards. Now fly to Aldelle Village. Speak to Ulgorn here to complete "The Abyss Gate."

As soon as you turn in the quest and level to 9 you will obtain "Ascension." Go back to Anturoon Crossing and go north and back through to the back of the Prison Camp to speak to Munin. You are now sent back to Aldelle Village so make your way back to Anturoon and fly there. Speak to Urd and you are sent to Verdandi. Follow the path north west out of the village and stay on the path as it goes south west. When you reach Motgar and Dabi go straight south east to the small fenced in area. Speak to Verdandi here to continue "Ascension." Go back to Anturoon Crossing now (use Return or just run). Head south from here (towards the ship you got the map from earlier) and you will run into Skuld. Speak to her and then head back to Munin at the back of the Prison Camp.

You are now teleported to a new area. Speak to Hagen up ahead of you to fly a little and when you land you will be attacked by 4 mobs and then another afterwards. These are all very easy, so they are not an issue. After you kill them, speak to Munin and choose your class. When you are teleported back kill one mob and you are now level 10!

Speak to Munin again and choose to do "Daeva's Ceremony" to be transferred to the main land, Pandaemonium!

    QuestingLevels 1-9

Levels 1-9 will keep you in one specific zone (Ishalgen) as you will be unable to go elsewhere at this point. This helps out some because you will always be in the same zone, so here is where to go for various questing levels.

Levels 1-3 will be finished around Aldelle Basin. This is pretty easy and quick because all of the quests are centered around the mobs here and earning enough experience to level up here is fairly fast.

Levels 4-6 you will be picking up in and around Aldelle Village. There are quests here for before and after level 6 as well, just work on them as you are able to.

Levels 4-9 will be completed around Anturoon Crossing. There are others you will be picking up along your journey to complete these quests as well, however the bulk of them are going to be found at the Crossing.

Ascension This quest will be given to you automatically once you have reached level 9. Completing this will automatically bring your level to 9 and maximum experience, so once you have it you can skip any remaining quests if you wish.

    Levels 10-20Level 10-11

Starting with level 10 (technically level 9 and maxed out experience) you will have a couple of different places you can find quests at.

The first place to quest at level 10 is in Pandaemonium, the main village. There are not a lot of quests here but you will need to do the Daeva's Ceremony quest at the very least (this is given automatically after doing Ascension). It is highly recommended that you explore this town while you are here because there are a lot of useful NPC's around that can help you with your journey. Also, don't forget to get your new skills!

After you are done with Pandaemonium you are ready to move off into your next zone, Altgard.

In Altgard Fortress you will find enough quests to get you from level 10 to around 12 if you do all of the available quests here. Also, in this area you will want to spend some time to start doing Aether extraction, as it is very helpful for the future.

    Level 12

At level 12 you will be ready to move west from the fortress which brings you to Moslan Forest. Here you will find many quests that range from the requirement of level 11 to 12. You will be able to get all of these quests as you are already (presumably) level 12. Note that a few of these are much easier to do with a partner or a group than they are solo, however everything in this area can be done alone.

    Level 13-16

At this point you are ready to move even more west to the Basfelt Village. Here you will find some quests, although not a lot, to take part in. Do the quests here until you run out and you should be level 15 or so.

    - 22 - www.killerguides.com

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

When you have reached level 15 and have completed all quests in Basfelt Village, head north of there to the Mosbear Habitat. This is where you will find your level 15-16 quests at. Mixed between this and the village (it will require a bit of traveling between the two) you should have no problems reaching level 17. If you do find that you need more quests to reach 17, make your way back to Altgard Fortress (you can fly there) and you will find some new quests available there for you.

In the condition that you complete the quests in all three areas and still are not 17 yet, collect materials and grind mobs until you reach 17.

    Level 17

At level 17 there are three major quest hubs to go to, and both of them are highly recommended. It is recommended that you do them in the following order:

First go back to Altgard Fortress, if you are not already there. Go out the east gate and you will find NPC's with a lot of quests. These are going to be your first questing area.

When you have completed the above quests, go farther east, to the north east corner of the map and you will find Calderon Hill. Here you will find a lot more level 17 quests you are able to complete.

When you are finished with these go back to Basfelt Village (fly) and then go south to Gribade Crater Lake. In the north part of it and in the south entrance to the lake you will find quests you can pick up. Most of these are level 17 but a couple are for lower levels. You will want to go ahead and do them all.

Upon completion of this you should already be level 18 or maybe even partially finished with 18.

    Level 18-20

Now you want to go farther east to Traders Berth. Here you will find quite a few quests to take part in.

As you run through those you will also be taken near Impetusium which is the next area of quests for you.

Once you have completed these quests you will want to fly to Altgard Fortress again to pick up any remaining quests you have there. When you have finished these you will be done questing in Altgard and your goal at that point is to level up your collecting (both Vitality and Aether) and grind mobs to finish leveling up to 20.

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

The easiest way to finish the leveling is to join epic groups who are venturing into Black Claw Outpost or Village. This will not grant you with the ability to do material farming but it will assist you with leveling, as long as you are able to find groups.

    Levels 20-30Level 20

At level 20 you will want to return to Pandaemonium to take care of any quests or anything else you wish to do there. When you are ready to move on there are now two zones for leveling up in: Brusthonin and Morheim.

The first zone you will want to make your way to is Morheim, as Brusthonin quests start at level 21 and above. You will be starting on the level 20 quests in Morheim.

When you get to Morheim you will notice the map is quite large, however only half of it is for your current level. Most of the map is for levels 30 and above.

At Morheim Fortress you will find some quests, although not a ton, that you can complete. If you go through these you should be able to reach level 21 quite easily.

    Level 21

At the beginning to half or maybe even more than half of level 21 you will want to remain in Morheim Fortress. Once you have reached 21 you will be unlocking many new quests there.

When you are out of quests in Morheim Fortress, head south along the path. As you go along the path you will eventually run into NPC's (76,26) is their location. These will give you many new quests and you should be past level 22 when you complete them.

    Level 22

At level 22 you will want to finish up the quests available at the two NPC's and then you will want to finish level 22 by grinding. There are a few more quests available at this level but it is better to get out some of the grind now than to let it all pile up for the higher levels!

    Level 23

From the level 22 quests get back on the road and head east. You will run into a small area with one NPC who has a couple quests for you and farther east down the road still you will run into more. When you have completed those continue along the path

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

now to the west (do not go south when it splits!) and off on your left you will find a small building with more quests outside. Do these and you should be part way into level 24.

    Level 24

At level 24 there are going to be two questing areas you will want to visit. The first one is back to the east where you were for level 23 quests. Here you will find another NPC with multiple level 24 quests.

Also, head back west and this time take the road to the south. This will lead you to more NPC's with yet more quests for you to partake in. To get here you will need to take the first road that goes south. Follow this until you get to a split and follow it east. Then just follow the road to find the NPC's.

These quests should be good enough to get you all the way to 25.

    Level 25-26

At this point we're going to do sort of a back-track. Go back to Morheim Fortress and choose to use the teleporter (not flight) to teleport over to the zone Brusthonin.

In here you will have a lot of quests to take part in and they are all already unlocked (they range from level 22-24). We waited this long to come here because it is much more efficient to knock out this entire zone all in one go.

The areas your quests will be located at are the following:

1)The hub you start out in2)If you follow the path out and to the north you will see on your map a structure south of the farm. There is a NPC here.3)From the marker 2 head north along the north east path and you will run into a NPC west of the cemetary.4)Your final NPC is almost straight west (but a little south) from number 3.

Once these quests are all completed you will be at or around level 27. If you are not quite there yet, grind the mobs in this area until you are.

    Level 27

At level 27 there are not many quests to complete so you will be forced to grind some. Before doing so, however, go do these quests:

    - 25 - www.killerguides.com

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

Teleport back to Morheim. Once there, use the flight teleporter to go to west area. Here you will find some quests to complete. Once you have done the available ones you will be forced to grind the rest of the experience. You can do so in this same area, however if you venture off into the desert (south east) ensure you do not get within a close range of the large bird flying around. He is a high level epic boss and will have no problems killing you!

    Level 28

At level 28 there are many, many quests available for you to complete. The first ones you will want to clear out are the ones near you (in the west area of the map).

Once you are finished with those, you will want to go near the middle of the map, where the lava is. At the point (62, 56) on your map you will find a NPC with many quests available for you to complete.

By the time you have finished all of these you should be a little into level 29. If you are not quite there yet, you will want to grind the rest of the experience.

    Level 29

There are not a lot of level 29 quests available, and they are in two completely different areas. The first area is back north west where you were previously. The second is to the south (you can fly there from Morheim).

After completing all available quests in these areas you should already be level 30.

    Levels 30-40Level 30

The level 30 quests are spread out across many different areas. The first quests you will want to do are at the quest hub near you. Afterwards, visit the following NPC's:

    Magni (78,67)Sararinirerk (55, 60)Paepaeronerk (45, 51)Please note that the quest Paepaeronerk

gives you is a group quest. Save this for last and look for a group for it while you are completing the others. If you find a group for it do it as soon as possible to get it over with.

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

    Level 31

At level 31 you will only find quests in two locations: the quest hub and Sararinirerk from level 30. Note that the ones from Sararinirerk are group quests, so you will need a group in order to complete them. Much like previously, you will want to look for a group while working on the solo quests.

    Level 32

At level 32 there are almost no new quests, and they are only available at the quest hub. Once you have completed these there are two options for leveling up: You can grind solo or you can go with a group to the epic mobs from your earlier quests. The epics are much better experience and drops but if you are unable to find a group, grinding alone is fine.

    Level 33

At level 33 there are a few quests available in the quest hub and the other ones are group quests. These are available from the following NPC's:

    Bulagan (48,54) andPaepaeronerk (45,51)

    Level 34 - 35

At level 34 there are quests available in the quest hub and at the following NPC's:

Bulagan (48,54)Magni (78,67)Once you have completed these you will

likely have a bit of leveling left to do. At this point go back to Morheim and choose to teleport to Belusian. Here you can start working on the main quests and they should last you until around level 36.

    Level 36

At level 36 you start obtaining more quests back in Morheim. Choose to teleport back there and then fly to the southern area again. Here you have quests in the quest hub and at the following NPC's:

    Magni ( 78,67)Bubu Kong (56, 71)

There is also another small quest hub west at the point (48, 88) that has some more quests to take part in at this level.

level 37At 37 there are quite a few quests to do.

They are at the main quest hub and at the following locations:

    Modgud and Mothir (76,76)Bubu Kong's quest hub (56, 71)Gullveig (48, 88)Chaomirk (40, 85)

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

level 38At level 38 the quests are pretty much

centralized. You will find a few in the main quest hub and then more at the following NPC's:

    Modgud (76,74)Chaomirk (40, 85)Taisan and Temoji (32,89)

    Levels 39-45Levels 39-43

At level 39 you will only find new quests in the main quest hub and the one at (58,71). When you have finished those you will want to teleport back to Beluslan again.

In Beluslan you will need to do quests at all of the following locations:

    Spawn point(601,795)(304,1167)(1277,833)(1447,1288)(1910,476)(490,2223)

After completing all of these you should be level 43.

    Levels 43-45

There are quite a few quests available for these levels. These are located in the following areas:

    (2234,1251)(2427,2095)(2742,2081)(1873,2238) Grouping quests(573,2693)(582,1935)

You will need to go back and forth between the first three locations as the quests require a few different levels. Once you are finished with all of this, you should be level 45!

    Levels 45-50

At this point you will be in an almost pure grind. There are only a few quests available at this time. These are located around the Chaos Brambles and Alukina's Palace.

    Grinding

Levels 1-9Levels 1-3 will be grinded between Aldelle

Village and the Aldelle Basin. These are very easy mobs so it will be quick to level.

    - 28 - www.killerguides.com

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

Levels 4-6 you will want to grind near Munihele Forest.

Levels 7-9 will be in two areas depending on which one you wish to go to. Both of these are about the same, the only difference being that sometimes one is more full of players than the other, and the scenery is different. These two areas are the Odella Plantation and Ishalgen Prison Camp area.

Alternatively, you are also able to grind 8-9 in the Dubaro Vine Canyon. This area is a little tougher than the other two areas, however this usually means the drops are better as well. It is best to go there as a group as the mobs have a fairly fast respawn rate and there are many social mobs.

Levels 10-13From levels 10-13 you can hunt the mobs

around Altgard Fortress. These mobs are pretty slow at running and are easily killed. Along with this, they are close to the city so it is very easy to sell the unwanted drops (Misc. items) and list things on the Trader if needed.

Levels 13-14Levels 13-14 can easily be done as you

travel west from Altgard. Here you will find the Mumu Farmland and inside are a lot of closely grouped mobs. This area is great just because there is little downtime when it comes from running from one mob to another. The downside is there is not a shop nearby!

Levels 15-17From levels 15-17 you will want to go to

Basfelt Village. Going north of here you will find various mobs like bears and other things. Just travel to the north west and you will find plenty of great mobs to slay for experience.

Along with this, you are again near a town so it is easy to sell your drops when needed.

Levels 17-19At this point you need to decide whether

you want to do solo or grouping for the rest of your levels in this zone.

    Solo

If you are going to solo, you will want to go to Trader's Berth. Going north along the road here and then following it to the Impetusium will lead you to great mobs to finish up your leveling on.

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

    Grouping

If you are in a group or are interested in grouping your best area is going to be east of Altgard at the Black Claw areas. If you go straight east of the city you will find a path leading up to the Black Claws. Outside here you will want to find your group or organize your group if you already have one.

This area is the best for your leveling because of the drops from bosses you will kill along your way. The downside is it requires a group which is not always possible to get ahold of!

Levels 20-22From levels 20-22 you will want to hunt

around the outskirts of the city. These are quite easy mobs and you are near the city so you can sell your drops to the NPC's or trader.

Levels 22-24From levels 22-24 you will want to go

south of the city to where the snow is (you can see the snow on your map). Here you will find wolves and other mobs you can kill. Nothing here is ranged, which is excellent for classes such as the Ranger or Sorcerer.

Levels 24-27At this point you will want to head down

to the Spriggs. You can see this area on your map. If you are in Morheim you can actually just fly to the quest hub located there and it will put you in the central area of the mobs you want.

Levels 27-30At this point you have another choice of

going solo or grouping for the epic mobs. Again, grouping is harder to do than solo, but the bosses you kill in the epic area are great drops compared to what you will be obtaining alone.

    Solo

If you are solo you will want to use the Morheim flight path to head to the west quest hub. Outside here you will find many different mobs. The ones you will want are the ones in the actual desert. The ones near the quest hub have too many snares.

In the desert you will most likely want to go up towards the fortress rather than hanging out at the bottom. There are some ranged mobs on the path up but you can pull most things one by one. Also, they have a short aggression-follow range so if you do over-pull you can just run away.

If you choose to hunt at the bottom in the actual desert (which is not recommended) you need to watch out for the giant Condor. He is a high level elite boss and will kill you very quick if you get within range.

    Grouping

If you choose to group the best plan here is to go up to the solo area and hunt there while waiting until you actually have a group. When you do, you all will want to go towards the far north west of the map and then follow the path south. Here you will find many epic mobs and also some bosses. These are awesome to farm for their drops.

Levels 30-33South east of the spawn point in Beluslan

you will find mobs to kill to reach 33 off of. These are spread out making them easy to kill without the worry of accidentally pulling too many.

Levels 33-36Follow along the path to the east from

where you are hunting and you will find a quest about Spriggs. In this area you will be able to grind to level 36.

Levels 36-39At this point you will want to go to the

area (1277,833) on your map. This is south of the main spawn point and will last you until level 39.

Levels 39-41At this point you will want to go way

south. Around point (2234,1251) on your map you will find a quest hub, however near this area you will also find great mobs for leveling up to 41 on.

Levels 41-45In the south eastern quadrant of the map

(quarter), you will find the mobs you want to grind until you reach 45.

Levels 45-50For these levels you will want to grind in

the south east area of the map, at the Stronghold, or in the north east, at Alukina's Palace.

    Elyos

    Leveling guide from 1-10

From the Elyos starting position your first step is going to be familiarizing yourself with your user interface.

First speak to Elpas, right by where you start out at, and pick up the quest Sleeping on the Job. He sends you almost straight north to speak to Mires. Speak to Mires to complete this quest and obtain the rewards.

Accept the quest Kerubim Hunt from Mires, which wants you to slay 3 Striped Kerubs. These are located just by the NPC, so go slay 3 of them. Now return to Mires. You should now be level 2!

Accept the quest Grain Thieves from Mires, which requires you to get Kerub Grain Sacks. Right where you were killing Kerubs you will see a small fenced in area. This is where the sacks are located. Get 4 of these and return to Mires. Turn in the quest and accept "Report to the Priest."

The quest "Report to the Priest" will send you to Akarios Village, to the north east. Get on the road and follow it in that direction and you will run into Kales. Speak to him and grab the quest "The Snuffler Headache." This quest has you obtain 4 tails from Grain Snufflers, located just south east of the NPC.

Return to Kales to turn in "The Snuffler Headache" and pick up "Kale's Request" by speaking to him again. Now continue along the path towards Akarios Village again (to the north east).

Note : As soon as you enter the village you will have a quest pop up in your log called "Mercenary Captain's Call." This is normal, and we will be doing this one as well. Click the check-box beside it and close the quest screen.

Note 2 : Go to the Obelisk to your left after you enter and bind yourself to this village. If you don't have enough yet, bind as soon as you do. It will help greatly reduce your run time if you die.

Go to Uno in the village and turn in "Kale's Request." Then pick up the quest "Uno's Ingredients."

Speak to Polinia and turn in the quest "Report to the Priest" and pick up "Collecting Angelica." This will boost you to level 3!

Speak to Kalio and turn in the quest "Mercenary Captain's Call" and you will see more quests open in your campaign.

Head over to your skill master (depending on your class) and speak to them to obtain 250 experience. Speak to them again to learn your new skills. Buy the book(s) for the skill(s) you are able to learn and double click

them while they are in your inventory to learn them. Then open your skill menu (Default button is K) and drag them to your hot bar.

After you have done this, speak to Minalinerk to pick up the quest Abandoned Goods.

Exit the village to the north west and follow the path until you run into Muranes. Speak to him to get the next part of "The Kerub Threat." Now you must kill Small Horned Kerubs, located just north of him. Slay 5 of these and return to him.

Note : While you are doing this quest it is a good idea to farm the Angelica you see on the ground. They are small flowers you are able to click on. You need 10 of these.

When you have the 5 Kerubs, return to Muranes and he will send you to Agar's Farm. Head almost straight west from Muranes and you will run into the farm. Slay Big Foot Kerubs here and loot them until you obtain 5 fangs. Also obtain 5 wine bottles from the barrels.

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

After you obtain the fangs, or on your way to Agar's Farm, slay the various Airons in the pond (they are birds). You must kill 6 of these and loot them for their meat.

When you have all of these items, head back to Muranes to turn in the quest "The Kerub Threat." He will now send you back to Kalio to complete the quest "The Kerub Threat." Before you go, farm more of the Angelicas until you have 15 collecting skill. This will aid you in the future.

When your collecting is level 15, head back to Akarios Village. On your way, stop by Melampus and pick up the quest "A Book for Namus."

In the village, speak to Kalios to complete "The Kerub Threat" and choose your reward. Then speak to Polinia and complete the quest "Collecting Angelica." Speak to Uno to complete the quest "Uno's Ingredients." Speak to Minalinerk to complete Abandoned Goods.

Note : By this point you should be level 4, so get any skills you have not already learned. Also empty your inventory (to the NPC) of any items you do not need or want.

Go north west out of the village again and head along the normal path up to the north and around to the east.

When you get into the forest speak to Ampeis to get the next step of "Request of the Elim." Also, pick up "Mushroom Thief" from him.

Follow along the path a little more and speak to Forest Protector Noah (the big tree) to get the next part of "Request of the Elim." He will give you a flute, but ignore it. Afterwards, speak to Namus to complete "A Book for Namus." Then speak to him again to pick up the quests "Insomnia Medicine" and "The Elim's Mysterious Message."

Go almost straight north of these NPC's to find the Sylphens and east of there to find the Mepiguses you need. You will need 8 Mepiguses and to loot 5 Sylphen wings.

When you have the Mepiguses and Sylphens head to the south east part of the forest to find the Sleeping Elders. Wake up two of these by right clicking on them. You must speak to them when they are awake to get credit!

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

Now return to the NPC's at the beginning of the forest. Speak to Forest Protector Noah to get the next part of "Request of the Elim" and speak to Ampeis to complete "Mushroom Thief."

Head back towards the lake now (Cliona) and go directly north of the "na" in Cliona on your map. Here you will find Feira. Speak to her to get the next part of "The Elim's Mysterious Message." Then speak to her again to pick up "To Fish in Peace."

Slay 5 Brown Bristle Brax's and 5 Rake Claw Slinks near her and return to her to complete the quest.

Return to Akarios Village now, along the path (or use Return). In the village first speak to Asteros to complete the quest "The Elim's Mysterious Message." Now speak to Uno to turn in "Insomnia Medicine."

Now that you are done here, go get the rest of the spellbooks you will need for your skills up through level 8. After, go to the Flight Transporter (Kustanon) and fly to Melponeh's Campsite. Your first step here is to bind to this new location.

Now speak to Tula to get the next part of the quest "Neutralization" and Oz to get the next part of "Illegal Logging." After, go south to kill Dukaki Woodcutters and Lumberjacks. You need 6 quest items from them.

When you have the 6 Dukaki items, head east of the campsite towards the Mine. Slay 12 Dukaki's over here as well. Just to the right of the "e" in Mine you will see the cauldron you need for "Neutralization." It is easiest to kill the mobs on your way to this cauldron and then finish up the ones you are missing.

When you have done both steps above, return to the campsite and speak to Oz to get the next step of the quest "Illegal Logging." Also, speak to him again to pick up the quest "Oz's Prayer Beads." Lastly, speak to Tula to pick up the quest "Mopping Up Zaifs."

Head back to the Mine and kill the large mobs now, called Tursin Overseers. Slay 3 of these. Afterwards, return to the campsite and speak to Oz to complete the quest "Illegal Logging."

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

Go almost straight south west from the camp and you will find the Gray Zaifs. Slay 9 of these. After this, follow along the path to the south west to the forest where the NPC's are from earlier.

Speak to Forest Protector Noah to get the next step of "Request of the Elim" and speak to Namus to complete the quest "Insomnia Medicine." Then speak to Namus again to pick up the quest "A Taste of Namus' Medicine."

Follow the path back towards the campsite and you will see Daminu off on your left. He is just below the "n" in "Daminu Forest." Speak to the NPC directly ahead of you when you are teleported to fly around and learn about your past. After flying you will land and will be taken back to the forest. Speak to Daminu again to get the next step of "Request of the Elim."

Continue running along the path to the north east until you get to the campsite. Speak to Lonia to complete the quest "A Taste of Namus' Medicine" and then Tula to complete "Mopping Up Zaifs." By this point you should be level 7!

Speak to Tula and pick up the quest "Tula's Music Box." Then speak to Melponeh to pick up the quest "Melponeh's Mushroom Research." After, head along the north path from the campsite towards the Agaric Spore Road (north). While you are here you will want to slay Three-Day Sparkys until you get 3 quest items and Fearless Fungi until you obtain 5 quest items from them. Then speak to Pernos to get the next step of "Neutralization." After this, head deeper into the Spore area and you will find Spore Shade Fungus (the large ones). Slay these and loot them until you obtain 3 Mushroom Spores, and then return to Pernos.

Head back to the campsite now and speak to Oz to complete the quest "Oz's Prayer Beads" and then Melponeh to complete Melponeh's Mushroom Research.

Head back to the Mine from earlier where the cauldron is and go speak to the cauldron again. While you are in this area, it would also be a good idea to get the 7 Iron Ores you need for Tula's quest. These can be found scattered all over the area.

Return to the campsite and speak to Tula to get the next part of the quest "Neutralization." Now speak to the Flight Transporter and choose to fly to Akarios Village. Speak to Kalio to complete the quest "Request of the Elim." Then speak to him again to complete "Neutralization."

Note : While you are in town, get any skills you are missing (if there are any) and sell your trash items to the NPC's.

Before you leave, speak to Kalio to pick up the quest "No Entry." Speak to Polinia to pick up the quest "Polinia's Ointment," and speak to Baevrunerk to pick up the quest "Ancient Cube." Then speak to the Flight Transporter and fly back to the campsite.

Speak to Oz here to get the next step of "No Entry" and then speak to Melponeh to complete "Polinia's Ointment."

Now it is time to make a final trip to the Mine. North of the "a" in "Kabarah" you will see a small white box on the ground. This is the Ancient Cube, so speak to it.

Head back into the Spore area again to where Pernos is. Speak to Pernos to get the next part of the quest "No Entry." Next, open your map (press N for overlay) and follow

the path all the way to the end. You will run into Poa here. Speak to him to complete the quest "Tula's Music Box" and then pick up the next part of "No Entry." Also, pick up the new quest "Suspicious Ore" from him.

Continue along the path to the mine and enter it. As you go deeper you will find boxes around. Open them and grab the quest items; you will need 6. As you continue you will find Ino on your right. Speak to him to continue "No Entry." Continue through the cave until you get to the very large room (not the first one) and to the left will be the green power generator. The blue one is to the right of the entrance, and the violet one is up the hill in front of you. There may be a named mob in front of it, so you might need to kill him. After you have talked to all 3 generators (to destroy them) use the Poeta Abyss Gate. You are now almost done with this quest! You can use Return now, if you wish. If the area is still clear you can also run back out to where Poa is to complete the quest "Suspicious Ore." Otherwise, you will need to run back through the Spore road to Poa.

  • The Unofficial Aion Ranger Guide

When you turn in "Suspicious Ore" pick up the quest "Scouting the Timolia Mine." This one is pretty easy. Slay any of the mobs inside the mine and bring back 5 quest items to Poa to complete the quest (note : the outside mobs also count). After you turn in this quest use Return to go back to the campsite.

When you are finished with all of this, fly over to Akarios Village again. Speak to Kalio here to complete "No Entry." Then speak to Baevrunerk to complete "Ancient Cube."

Fly back to the campsite and go back to the Spore area. Here, you will need to grind mobs until you reach level 9. Any of them are fine, being that they start out at level 7.

As soon as you hit level 9 you will automatically gain the quest "Ascension." You are already near Pernos, so go to him and speak to him to continue it. Go back to the campsite and fly over to Akarios Village. Go out the north west exit that goes towards Cliona Lake. Go into the water just next to the island in the middle of the lake (with the glowing trees) and use "Pernos' Potion Bottle" that is in your inventory. Note that you may need to move around the water some in order to use the bottle.

Continue up the path towards the forest and keep running until you get to Daminu. Speak to him to continue the quest. He will now send you back to Pernos so run up to the Spore area. Once you are teleported, speak to Belpartan directly ahead to fly to the island up ahead. Here you will have to fight 4 normal mobs and a boss, but they are very easy. You will go through a cut-scene after and you will see Pernos next to you. Speak to him and choose your class. You will then be taken back to the Spore road where you are able to either keep hunting where you are or speak to Pernos to move to the Sanctum, the main land. Note that your experience is enough that one kill and you will hit level 10. So kill one mob and decide whether or not you are ready to move on. Explore if you wish, or speak to Pernos to go to Sanctum! (To enter Sanctum you must choose the quest "Daeva's Ceremony." It will teleport you there for free)

Congratulations! You've made it to level 10!

located at the entrance and inside the forest area. Afterwards, head along the path again to the north east.
