Passport Book

Adults (age 16 and older) Validity: 10 years Cost for First Time Applicants: $135 Cost for Adult Renewal: $110

Minors (under age 16) Validity: 5 years Cost for First Time Applicants: $105

Passport Card

Only valid when entering the U.S. by land and sea from

Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.

NOT valid for air travel.

Adults (age 16 and older) Validity: 10 years Cost for First Time Applicants: $55 Cost for Adult Renewal: $30

Minors (under age 16) Validity: 5 years Cost for First Time Applicants: $40

The passport card can fit in your wallet.

Who Can Apply?

People with evidence of U.S. citizenship or nationality.

Evidence Includes: • U.S. birth certificate

• Previous U.S. passport

• Certificate of Naturalization

• Certificate of Citizenship

• Certificate of U.S. Birth Abroad

Birth in the United States

An applicant should submit a birth certificate or previously-issued U.S. passport book or passport card if born in:

• One of the 50 U.S. states or Washington, DC • Puerto Rico • Guam • U.S. Virgin Islands • Northern Mariana Islands • American Samoa (U.S. Nationals) • Swains Island (U.S. Nationals)

Individuals born outside of the United States submit:
