• Composed of 5 island provinces of Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. It has 2 cities, 71 municipalities and 1,458 barangays.

• 2000 population is 2.3 million with 2.67% growth rate

• Total land area of 27,456.01 sq. kilometers representing about 9 % of the country’s total land area

• Agricultural products such as palay, coconut, banana, citrus, cassava, vegetables, livestock, marine and fishery products for food/agri-processing industry

• Host to many and diverse natural attractions such as coral reefs, white sandy beaches, rivers, dive sites and national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, caves and forest reserve for tourism development

REGIONAL IMPLEMENTATION OF CBMS

MOA was signed by the provinces, NEDA and CBMS Network Coordinating Team (September 29, 2006)

CBMS was adopted as common database management system.

It also calls for the institutionalization of CBMS and an improved data banking system at the barangay, municipal, city, provincial and regional levels.

On August 31, 2005, RDC IV-B approved CBMS as database management system for the region

MIMAROPA’S CUSTOMIZED CBMS QUESTIONAIRE

Household Profile Questionaire (HPQ) was modified to include indicators on:

Agriculture

Tourism

STATUS OF CBMS IN MIMAROPA REGION

Palawan – 4th round of updating CBMS

Marinduque – 2nd round of updating CBMS

Romblon – data processing stage of CBMS implementation

Oriental Mindoro – Module 1 on February 2008

Occidental – resource mobilization

The use of CBMS will facilitate the Role of RDC in Development Planning such as:

•Preparation, validation and monitoring of development plans;

•Prioritization of resource and investment programming;

•Preparation and evaluation of project proposals and monitoring of development projects;

•Formulation and monitoring of macro/regional policies and

strategies with concrete information from the ground;

•Pinpoint specific intervention/services even at household level;

The use of CBMS will facilitate the Role of RDC in Development Planning such as:

•Basis for targeting sites on hunger mitigation;

•Convergence strategy to mobilize LGU participation in the implementation of national programs on agriculture and tourism;

•Assess implementation of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); and

•Assist LGUs to monitor the effects of policies and programs of the national and provincial governments on socioeconomic conditions at the local level;
