Model United Na�ons Society, PES University.

PES University, renowned as one of the most acclaimed educa�onal ins�tutes in the country, offers nothing short of excellence in all of its

endeavours. The PES MUN Society adheres to the ins�tu�on's reputa�on, having established ourselves as a premier team with

numerous best delega�on awards, including one's from top MUN compe��ons

like VIT MUN, BITS Hyderabad MUN among several others.

Diplomat Wars, focuses on our new and incoming batch of students, providing them with first-hand experience of diplomacy and a glimpse of the enthralling MUN world.

Revolu�onalizing the online experience of events, we have 5

compelling rounds branched out on two days with exci�ng awards to be won. The first round of Diplomat Wars is an impera�ve

knowledge tes�ng quiz that screens out a true diplomat, followed by a rive�ng intra-team debate, problem-solving round, crisis

simula�on and ul�mately, the cap�va�ng air crash for the finale.

This event is an ideal pla�orm for individuals to showcase their quali�es while broadening their reasoning, analy�c and

argumenta�on skills by simula�ng a plethora of circumstances and providing an opportunity to s�r debate on consequen�al

issues. We assure you, this is an experience you will not want to miss. We look forward to seeing you at

Dr. Sumit Seth

Dr. Sumit Seth is a career diplomat, member of the pres�gious Indian Foreign Service (IFS). He is currently working as Director, Policy Planning at the Ministry of External Affairs. Earlier, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Yangon, Myanmar. He was also posted at India’s Missions in Madrid, Bogota and Geneva. He has advanced level diploma in Spanish and has a�ended academic programmes in Interna�onal Rela�ons at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Ellio� School of Interna�onal Affairs. His areas of interests are Neighbourhood Diplomacy, Health Diplomacy, Digital Diplomacy, Indo-Pacific and Foreign Policy Planning. Before joining the Diploma�c Career, he worked as a medical doctor and specialised in Forensic Medicine & Medical Jurisprudence. He is also author of a book for medical graduates in India, “Review of Forensic Medicine” (7th Edi�on)

With dynamic interna�onal rela�ons and constant fluctua�on, diplomats are o�en called upon to deal with situa�ons they cannot prepare for in advance. It becomes indispensable for a diplomat to have per�nent knowledge, enabling him/her to act appropriately in unpredictable situa�ons. A diplomat’s use and need of knowledge seems in many ways apparent and is a fundamental requirement in the field of diplomacy. The very first round of Diplomat Wars puts to test this knowledge and cogni�on. Teams will advance in the compe��on based on an all embracing quiz that assesses their proficiency on poli�cs, current affairs, legali�es, and interna�onal rela�ons, among others. Recollec�ng informa�on in history textbooks to the world affairs on TV, this round will bring out a toiling yet exhilara�ng experience.

Diplomats need strong nego�a�on skills to persuade others to agree with their viewpoints. Successfully delibera�ng on ideas and deba�ng perspec�ves while ac�vely listening is a pivotal skill requisite in a diplomat. This helps them maintain strong rela�onships in the field of foreign affairs, and is impera�ve while leading opposing groups to consensus. In the Intra-Team Debate round, the teams will debate against each other showcasing their argumenta�on skills. This will highlight and test their ability to scru�nize both sides of a problem statement, their oratory as well as persuasive capabili�es. This round will be the ul�mate interpreta�on of the formal discussion for the teams.

Problem solving is an indispensable prerequisite to stand out as a diplomat. Be it finding ways around laws to crea�ng fool-proof, sustainable and implementable solu�ons, a diplomat must shine in the wake of an obstacle. The third round of Diplomat Wars tests this very skill. Teams will have to complete the task at hand, as comprehensively as possible, and come up with the best and most efficient solu�on there is. Finding loopholes and mending the flawed ac�on plan at every step, this round is sure to be a vigorous and s�mula�ng experience!

A diplomat is faced with an abundance of crises and it becomes impera�ve that they are able to understand the calamity, adapt to the circumstances and solve the predicament at hand, all the while ensuring that the solu�ons are feasible and the disaster is under control. Tes�ng the ability to think on the feet and under immense pressure, this round puts the qualifying teams in a ba�le like no other. Teams will have to s�ck to their por�olios, arbitrate and provide well-formulated direc�ves and plans of ac�on to sail through the crises at hand, unruffled.

The plane is crashing and there is only one parachute. The ship is sinking and there is only one life jacket. Why do you deserve it? What makes you the most jus�fied to survive? Can you persist through an Aircrash? This round assesses the diplomats’ prowess in convincing, persuasion and propounding why they most require, and deserve the resources that are dire. Lively and brilliant, this finale will be the ul�mate clash between the best of diplomats!
