For further guidance on how to use the Video Editor, click on the “Help” button in the top menu of the Video Editor to access a page tour, a video guide and a list of keyboard shortcuts. Step Two – Using the Video Editor.

Firstly, you will need to create a new edit by clicking on New in the top corner. You can then enter a title for

the new edit and click Create.

Once you have created your project you will see a few final options before you start the edit. These can be

enabled or disabled by clicking on the switch. In this case, I will enable Auto Save which will save my project

automatically after any major changes.

Next, you need to add in your sources. To do this, click on Sources located next to Project Settings and then

click on Load Source. You can then use the search tools on the left-hand side to find content that you want to

add to the edit timeline. You can also filter the search between audio and video clips. Once you have located

the source you want to import, hover over the item and click Select Media. You can load multiple sources of

both audio and video.

Once you have chosen your audio/video sources they will appear as clips on the left-hand side.

Now that your sources are available, you can start to edit them by adding them to the Clip Edit Window. Do

this by clicking on the small arrow to the right-hand side of each available source.

Once you have your source added into your Clip Edit Window, you can add the entire clip into the Timeline by

using the Add Clip button.

If you want to remove parts for this clip before adding it the edit timeline, for instance to top and tail a clip,

you can use the Start/End stopwatches to be able to select sections from you video. This is especially useful if

you are wanting to remove parts of the video that you don’t need such as irrelevant topics or adverts.

You can move along on the video timeline by dragging the play marker or simply allow the video to play

through.

You can also use the following buttons to move backwards or forwards by frame.

Once you have located your desired start and end points, you can mark them using the two stopwatch icons:

Page 6: The Video Editor - Planet eStream … · Page 1 of 18 The Video Editor The Planet eStream Video Editor provides you with multitrack editing functionality directly from your Planet

With your start/end points now marked click the Add Clip button to add the new tailored sections to your

timeline. You will notice that the content on the multitrack parts of the editor also appear within the Preview

Window. This allows you to preview the entire edit to ensure that it is correct and make any changes, where

necessary.

You can continue the steps from above to build a new edited video made up of different sections, multiple full

videos or both.

Selecting Add Clip will always add the new section or clip to the end of the current edit timeline.

Alternatively, you can move the red timeline marker along the timeline to a point that you would like to add

the next video clip. Selecting Insert Clip will add this clip at the point that the marker is placed.

You will then see that the original clip has been separated allowing for the inserted clip to be placed in

between.

You can also use the Overwrite Clip button to overwrite the clip on the timeline with your clip.

Now you have a few clips added into the timeline, you can adjust the timing marker to adjust the length of

your edit. There are two of these markers, one at the beginning of the video and one at the end. Clicking the

little padlock icon will unlock the markers and allow you to move them. These allow you to adjust the length of

the video so when you publish your edit, it will only process the video between these two points.

Also, you can adjust the length of the added clip by selecting the white area of the clip and either expanding or

shortening the length of your clip.

You will also notice a couple of other options. You can edit a clip, copy a clip and delete a Clip. You can also

click on a clip and move it within the timeline to rearrange your clips.

The audio source option allows the user to use a different audio track for their video. To insert an audio

source, click load source and filter the options to search for Audio Only. You can then add the clip.

Page 10: The Video Editor - Planet eStream … · Page 1 of 18 The Video Editor The Planet eStream Video Editor provides you with multitrack editing functionality directly from your Planet

To add your Audio Source to your timeline, use the same method that you used to add in video sources. Once

your track is added to the timeline, it will appear underneath the video track in a pink colour. Once again you

can alter the size of your timeline for the audio track to fit with the video clips.

Step Three – Additional Options

Now that you are familiar with the basic editing functionality of the Video Editor, we can now move onto to

other features and options. The first of these is the ability to add titles to your edit by clicking Add Title.

Page 11: The Video Editor - Planet eStream … · Page 1 of 18 The Video Editor The Planet eStream Video Editor provides you with multitrack editing functionality directly from your Planet

You will be presented with the title creation window, where you are able to create your title. There will be a

text box located in the middle of the screen where you enter your title. This can be moved around the screen

by dragging to display in the required position. Along the top you will also notice a number of options such as

duration, text size, font, alignment, text effects (bold & shadow) and text colour.

When you have added your title, click Confirm to add it to the edit timeline. The title will be displayed a

separate track on the timeline, indicated by a blue box.

The title will be displayed in the Preview Window when previewing your edited video.

In addition to text you can also add frames of colour. You might want to do this to signify a transition of time in

the video. To do this, click on Add Colour, assign a colour and duration and click Confirm.

You can move the colour frames and titles around the timeline by dragging them. In the example below I have

moved them both to the start of the edit to create a sting at the beginning of the video.

You will be presented with a window where you can choose the image(s) that you would like to add to your

edit. You can also search for images and filter these searches.

Once you have selected your image, you can specify a duration in seconds that the image will be displayed for

an whether the add it to the title track or add it insert it the video track. If you add it to the title track it can be

overlaid over the video. Adding it to the video track will add the image in-line with the video.

If adding to the title track you can position your image by dragging and dropping and it will be shown over the

top of the video. This can be used to create picture-in-picture style edits. Once you have selected your

position and duration click Confirm.

Your still will be shown on the timeline as a purple box and you can preview via the preview window:

A final element that you may want to add is a voice-over to your edit. To add a voice over, click the Add Voice

Over option.

Next, you will be able to choose your microphone from the drop-down list of audio options. To start recording

your voice over, press start, if you want to pause the voice over press pause and then to continue recording

press resume.

Once you have finished your recording, click Finish and your voice over will appear within your timeline. You

can now exit out of the voice-over recorder.

Once you have added all of the relevant tracks to your edit you can make use of the volume bars at the

bottom. These can be adjusted to get the right audio levels for each track. You can also use the Timeline Scale

to zoom in and out on the timeline:

After clicking Submit, you will be presented with a window to select your location and privacy settings. You

can then click Confirm. The edit will then be processed and will become available within your eStream site

once the processing is finished.

Additional Information – Editing an Existing Video

This step is optional but can also be useful. You can also access the video editor directly from a video source

allowing you to load the video directly in the video editor without needing the load it manually. To do so,

locate the video you wish to edit and open it. The Edit Video option is part of the details tab.

The video editor will now open with the selected video already loaded. The difference when editing in this way

is that after making your edit, you can select the option to replace the original. This will completely replace the

original video file with the new edit. This can’t be undone so make sure everything is correct in the preview

window before submitting.
