METHODIST FAMILY HEALTH MISSION PROJECT As part of the “Get Up & Give” mission project
our church is participating in, the children’s
department is collecting toilet paper and paper
towels to be used in the Methodist Family Health
system (Magnolia Methodist Counseling Clinic
and Magnolia Methodist Children’s Homes). We
are competing Boys vs. Girls. The winning group
(boys or girls) will get to SLIME MR. JEREMY!
EASTER EGG HUNT Due to many of our families being out of town for
Spring Break (March 21-25), we will have our annual
Easter Egg hunt during the Sunday School hour on
Easter morning. Bring a basket, a friend, and meet in
Peace Hall.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Dates are being selected for this summer’s Vacation
Bible School. Please be watching for information in
this week’s bulletin. Prayerfully consider how you
can serve the children of Magnolia and Columbia
County at this year’s VBS.

BROTHER LARRY
Max DePree, author of Leadership Is an Art,
describes a simple, but profound, incident that altered
the culture of one organization:
“My father is 96 years old. He is the founder
of Herman Miller, and much of the value system and
impounded energy of the company is a part of his
contribution. In the furniture industry of the 1920's the
machines of most factories were not run by electric
motors, but by pulleys from a central drive shaft. The
central drive shaft was run by the steam engine. The
steam engine got its steam from the boiler. The boiler,
in our case, got its fuel from the sawdust and other
waste coming out of the machine room - a beautiful
cycle.
“The millwright was the person who oversaw
that cycle and on whom the entire activity of the oper-
ation depended. He was a key person.
“One day the millwright died.
“My father, being a young manager at the
time, did not particularly know what he should do
when a key person died, but thought he ought to go
visit the family. He went to the house and was invited
to join the family in the living room. There was some
awkward conversation - the kind with which many of
us are familiar.
“The widow asked my father if it would be all
right if she read aloud some poetry. Naturally, he
agreed. She went into another room, came back with a
bound book, and for many minutes read selected piec-
es of beautiful poetry. When she finished, my father
commented on how beautiful the poetry was and
asked who wrote it. She replied that her husband, the
millwright, was the poet.
“It is now nearly 60 years since the millwright
died, and my father and many of us at Herman Miller
continue to wonder: Was he a poet who did mill-
wright's work, or was he a millwright who wrote poet-
ry?”
Read Romans 12:1-13, then come to worship
at 8:30 or 10:45. We’ll talk about the work of the laity
as we continue with our ReLent series with
“Respond.” See you then!

A note from the prayer ministry...
A Point of View
“Prayer offers a new point of reference. We listen to the
evening news and know that, in prayer, we commune with the
One who is in fact running the whole show. His presence and
the knowledge of his power make it hard for us to get very
nervous. Christ is not holding just my hand; he is holding the
fate of the universe.
The more time we spend in prayer, the more we experi-
ence the love of God; the more we feel the Father looking at
us as his beloved child, the more we grow and become like his
Son. The mind of Christ cannot be in me if I don't know what
it is, but if he is beside me all day long and if I am repeatedly
turning my thoughts to him, I have an increasingly clear idea
of that mind of my Savior.”

The SAU Wesley Foundation has been award-
ed a $4,500 matching grant from the Conference
Board of Higher Education to replace a much
needed roof on the Wesley building. We have
already raised $3,000 of matching grant money
and are looking for churches or groups who might
help us with the remaining $1,500.
If your church, or a Sunday School class, or a
UMM or UMW group in your congregation, could
make a gift to this project, your support would be
greatly appreciated.
Thank you for considering this request.
Grace and Peace,
Bro. Mark Lasater
