Background to the survey

• ALT aims to carry out a survey of members every 2 or 3 years

• Continuity of some questions• This survey was not only targeted at members

but also more generally• In order to reflect ALT’s role within the

learning technology community• Online between 17/10/12 and 31/1/13• No longer than last time

Summary of other responses 1Website

• New website has got a good set of ratings• Unused relatively ( casual not heavy

predominates)• Needs social network interfaces and mobile

interfaces. Thus it should continue to develop primarily as a site for casual usage rather than one for heavy repeat usage.

• Compact and easy to use should stay.

Summary of other responses 2Events

• Conference still viewed as central by many• HE vs rest still an issue for some• Issue of cost growing• Call for more localised events but there are

cost implications.

Summary of other responses 3Networking

• ALT members list widely valued• Quarterly update electronic only seems a no

brainer. • Unexpected interest in better access to

research results.• ALT support for internal SD maybe of interest

as a membership benefit.

Undertakings/ actions

• Detail: will be acted on• Response on website and other key

“messages”• ALT will look at changing events• CMALT will change in line with the input• October strategy revision

New Surveys

• Sooner and shorter• More focussed• Ubiquitous?• Targetted response rates for various

categories to make deductions more valid• Supported by other data
