THE WAGON TO LONGPUDDLE Thomas Hardy

In the people in the Longpuddle knew about the way that Tony to found his wife.

Tony has a little, round face, with bright eyes. He never smiled so much, but he was a

great the women. He liked all of them. One week you saw him walked along with one

girl, the next week you saw him with another girl. But he decided Milly was the girl for

him. She was a nice, sweet thing, many people wanted to see their wedding. One Saturday, Tony went to market and he drove his wagon. When he go to the hill, he

saw Unity by the side of the road. He knew her very well, he nearly asked her to marry

him but then he thought that: “I will marry with Milly”. When he came up near to Unity,

she said: “My dear Tony, can I ride home with you?” Tony said yes with her. He and

Unity to talked together with a soft voice. Suddenly, he saw a girl’s hat over the hedge

round a turning in the road. He knew that the hat very well- it was Milly’s hat. He said

with Unity quickly: “Unity, here’s Milly was coming now”. He wanted Unity that she

had to lay down under the tarpaulin in the back of the wagon. He drove to meet Milly and

went to her home. He said very whisper because he didn’t want to Unity hear. Then they

came a house by the road and looking out of an upstairs was Hannah. She was tall and

good-looking girl with long hair who Tony was in love in the long time before Milly and

Unity. He said to Milly: “ Milly, there’s a young woman looking out of that windown,

who want to marry me . I’m afraid she’s going to angry, because she found out that I’m

going to marry you. And you’re a prettiest girl, so will you help me?” Milly said: “of

course”. He wanted her to hide under the empty sacks in the front of the wagon, behind

the seat. She didn’t like but she did. He drove on past the house which was Hannah’s

uncle’s house, and then she came up his wagon. She heard some voices from the back of

wagon. He went to his father farm and asked him what should I marry? Suddenly, the

wagon left, and moved off quickly. The wagon turned over, and three girls fell out into

the road. Nobody was hurt when Tony ran up, three girls were shouting, crying,

screaming. Hannah and Unity didn’t want to marry with Tony who kept girls in the back

of wagon. And then he asked Milly: “will you marry me?” Milly agreed and cried when

she said. Tony was happy because he found the girls who really love him. Finally, they

had a nice wedding in the church in the Longpuddle.
