Regular Baronial Gatherings
Wednesdays at 6:30 PM: Fighters’ Practice is held in
Howard Amon Park in Richland. Fighter’s Practice includes
practice for heavy armored combat and rapier combat. Non-
fighters are encouraged to attend, bring projects to work on,
observe and ask questions. Newcomers are always welcome.
Call Sir Dyon at 509-627-0142 for more information. Check
the calendar, and watch the email lists for updates. Since
no indoor practice site has been found here, fighters may
be traveling more frequently to Vulcanfeldt on Wednesdays
for practice. Vulcanfeldt practices are held at 6:30 on
Wednesday at Growers’ Supply, 202 South Division St.,
Toppenish, WA For those who would like to keep up to date
on what’s going on with practice, send an email to subscribe to
the fighters’ emailgroups:WasteKeepHeavyFTR-
[email protected] or for rapier WasteKeepRapier-
Wastekeep Fighters are still desperately seeking an indoor site for
Fighters’ Practice. Practice has recently moved to Wednesday
night so that more fighters are able to attend, but if a site is
found on a different night, they can probably be flexible. If you
have connections to a gym, school, warehouse, church building, union
hall, etc., that may be able to be used, please contact Sir Dyon at
627-0142 or [email protected]

Regular Gatherings. . . Continued 2nd Thursdays: Baronial Council (Business Meeting) This
event is not in costume, and newcomers are always welcome.
It is here that upcoming activities are planned, budgets are
discussed, etc. All are welcome to contribute ideas. The
meetings begin at 6:30 and are held at Round Table Pizza on
Court Street in Pasco.
Pages: Pages meet on Sundays about once a month. Contact
Baroness Stjarna at [email protected] with
questions. Watch the email list for updates.
Armoring/Arts & Sciences: Meeting weekly on Tuesdays at
6 PM at Master Ulrik’s house at 3310 W. John Day Ave. in
Kennewick. Please call Master Ulrik at 509-987-5109 to let
him know that you are coming, preferably the night before, so
that he is free to make other plans if no one will be attending.

This is the November 2011 issue of The Wastekeep Word, a publication of the
Barony of Wastekeep, of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA, Inc.). It
is not a corporate publication of SCA, Inc., and does not delineate SCA, Inc.
policies. The Barony of Wastekeep was founded in 1979, and is located in the Tri-
Cities, Washington and the surrounding area. The Wastekeep Word is available
from the Chronicler, Mistress Catriona of Rathcroghan (Susan Painter) at
[email protected] or by joining the Wastekeep Yahoo group at
www.wastekeep.org. The newsletter is available in online/electronic format
only, at no cost. The submissions for each month’s Word are due by the 20th of
the previous month. Suggestions and corrections are welcomed.

As You Like It
November 5, 2011, Canton of Akornebir
Waitsburg, WA Town Hall
Winter approaches, join the Canton of Akorenbir to celebrate the end of
another year.
As You Like It this year is celebrating the youth of Wastekeep and Akornebir
- with the Pages and other children assisting in Feast, Gate, Heralding, and
Marshaling.
Akornebir`s Rapier Champion will be fought for, as well as the Arts and
Sciences Champion. Weather permitting there will be pick-up fighting
outdoors.
Served feast will be held early in the evening to accommodate those that
travel longer distances.
Merchants and teachers are welcome; please contact the autocrat prior to
coming to ensure we have the space and can add your class to the schedule.
There will be no merchant fee.
Schedule:
10am - Site Opens
11am - Rapier Tournament
11:30 - A light lunch will be available (soup and such)
1pm - A&S Entries Due
2pm - A&S Judging
3pm - Dancing/Music/Bardic/etc
4:30 - Feast
6:30(ish) - Court
8pm - Site Closes

Feast Menu for As You Like It: The feast will be a three remove served feast.
Remove 1:
- Apples, Cheeses, Butters, and Bread
- Cold Pork with Sage Sauce
- Tart in Ymbre Day (Tart for Ember Day)
- Ryse of Flessh (Rice in turkey broth)
Remove 2:
- Onion Soup
- Hennys in Bruet (Chickin in Cumin Sauce - contains bacon and
beer)
- Macros (Noodles with Cheese)
- Fine Cakes
Remove 3:
- Mushroom Tart
- Pumps with Sauce on Side (Meatballs - sauce contains almonds)
- Gyngerbrede
Recipes will be available at the kitchen you have any questions or
concerns.

Youth (6-17) 5
Child (0-5) Free
We are also required by SCA, Inc., to charge a $5 surcharge for nonmember adults.

Waitsburg Diversions: If you are inclined to explore the
environs of Waitsburg, there are four new purveyors of
food and beverage since the last event: On Main Street,
Coppei Coffee-great coffee(better than that large cahin
and not as expensive), sandwiches, soup and salad, and
La Monarch-amazing taco stand food inside, and the
Anchor Bar-basic food and libations(21+). Just around
the corner on Preston Avenue is Betty’s Grill, a 50’s
style diner with terrific hamburgers, soup, milkshakes
and homemade pies of the delicious kind. Just over the
bridge on Preston is Laht Neppur brew pub-purveyor of
local ales, dark beers and pizza. Get your party pid
here All will be open on the day of the event.
