WOW what a year! It’s hard to believe that we are about to embark on another Pilot year. You are electing officers,

PILOT CLUB OF ST LUCIE COUNTY

Our program meeting on April 28 had two parts. First we had guests from Boys and Girls

Clubs of St. Lucie County, Mike Sancho CEO, Youth of the Year for our County Leeandrea

Jones and Mr. Jones Leeandrea’s father. Leeandrea shared her speech she will be giving at

the upper level competition for Youth of the Year for the Boys and Girls Clubs. Mike shared

with us about the programs that are offered through the organization. We presented Mike a

check for $200 to help their organization with their “project prom” or their summer program.

Part Two of our program meeting was our annual Kitty Shower for the Humane Society. Members brought canned cat food to the meeting which Karen will be delivering to the Hu-

mane Society. Our donations help the Animal Control Officers who have been purchasing the food themselves.

PILOT CLUB OF PANAMA CITY

The Pilot Club of Panama City held its seventh annual 5K and Fun Run for Brain-related disorders on March 14 at Frank Brown Park, Panama City Beach. Prayers were answered and the weather was perfect. The Navy ROTC from Arnold High School presented the colors, followed by the pledge to the flag prior to the start of the 5K. Anchor Club members from Arnold, Bay, Mosley, and Rutherford high schools were strategically stationed on the route to keep the runners on course. Refreshments were provided following the race, along with trophies and medals. Sponsors were honored on a poster board and signs along the course.

2015 Arc Valentine’s Dance

VALENTINE- by Cora Royal-Hackley

Once upon a time in the city of Jacksonville and sunshine

state of Florida the Jacksonville Arc gathered for:

V – Visibility of volunteers and guests;

A – Appreciating and accepting others;

L – Laughing and dancing to the music;

E – Expressing gaiety seeing old friends and meeting new

ones;

N – Noticeable and nice setting;

T –Thankful for a wonderful time;

I –Imaginable evening;

N – Numerous dances to do;

E – Extraordinary experience.

This was a service project hosted by the Port of Jacksonville Pilot Club and others. Some of the ladies gathered for

lunch to make corsages, wristlets, and boutonnieres for the guests. Each attendee look forward to the dance and

their flower (this is what they ask for) corsage, wristlet, or boutonniere. What’s “Valentine” without flowers?

TREASURE COAST PILOT CLUB

Treasure Coast Pilot Club members in Vero Beach, Florida

took Sue Mora to lunch and presented her with a gift card for gasoline and a special flower bouquet for her role

in caring for three members of her family. Her mother had a hip replacement, one sister is on dialysis and another

sister has amputed legs from diabetes. She certainly

deserves recognition for "stepping up to the plate" in caring for her family!

PSHF As the third quarter of our Pilot year closes, and my second term as Pilot Scholarship House Foundation Treasurer also is getting closer, I am in awe of the generous hearts of the Florida District Pilot members. When I heard President Charlotte speak about Pilots needing a project, I didn’t realize that yes, we do need a project! And when we have a project, we get busy! Last year at the time of our District Convention, I saw us finally reach the goal of $100,000 for our Endowment. This Pilot year at Fall Council, we listened to President Charlotte speak about an opportunity to take on the responsibility of another house – one with a twist. This would be a House for young men. And you responded unanimously with a YES! From $0 in November at the beginning of our Fall Council to the first of April 2015, you have mailed me so many checks that we have over $60,000 in our Williams House Account! Yes, a part of that is from Billie Pustai’s Estate, but over $20,000 is directly from you!! Some have been most generous in giving but all have given as they are able. If you haven’t had a chance to contribute, I encourage you to participate in the Fund Raising Challenge to MAKE IT FOUR. As you discuss your plans for work for the coming year, consider a fund raising activity with the proceeds to support the Williams House. Consider $5 per month per Pilot member between now and Fall Coun-cil…..that’s six months….that’s $30. Consider 700 Pilots x $30. That’s an additional $21,000 toward our goal!! And, as always, donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your enthu-siasm and generosity. Virginia Bunde PSHF Treasurer 2013-2015 P.S…a post District Convention update. Additional contributions at our recent Convention have brought our Williams House new total to $74,102.00!!!!

PILOT CLUB OF SOUTH BREVARD

It has been a busy year for us as we prepared for our very own Mary Jane McMillen's installation at District

Convention as the incoming Governor. We had a great time and worked hard. Ten members, including Mary Jane made it to Convention. Jo Reid, Peggy Bretz, Jane Cox, Valerie Cronin, Wenona Dunlap, Mary Jane McMillen, Elaine

Smith, Lynn Daugherty, Nancy Villard, and Shellee Storz-Davis. A few members even managed to enjoy the water-ways after the convention was over.

Several members got together at our President Valerie Cronin's house to decorate Hats for Cancer on April

2, 2015. They had a lot of fun, and made some really neat hats. The creative group included Pat Tebbe, Wenona Dunlap, Mary Jane McMillen, Pat Godfrey, Cathy Decker, Lynn Daugherty, Valerie Cronin, and Elaine Smith. The

women receiving the hats will be styling indeed. We held a Brainminders presentation at Suntree United Methodist Church on April 17, 2015. Our talented

members performed for five different classes of varying ages using puppets with the Brainminders presentation. Valerie Cronin, Wenona Dunlap, Annette Parker, Peggy Bretz, Jane Cox, and Shellee Storz-Davis were delighted to

entertain such a wonderful group of young people.

An additional Brainminders was held at the Lutheran Church on April 22, 2015. Our puppets are getting a work out! We were excited to present $1800.00 each to Nana's House, and Promise in Brevard during our April meet-

ing. They were the charities chosen by our club to reap the benefits of our Fashion Show Fundraiser. Every year it is bigger and better!

Quite a few people showed up to try their luck at Bunco at the Fountains on April 18, 2015. Raffle baskets

were won, and one lucky person won the 50/50. We all played Bunco, and had a lot of fun. Valerie Cronin, Jane Cox, Cathy Decker, Wenona Dunlap, Elaine Smith, Annette Parker, and Jo Reid were all there rolling the dice.

Upcoming events for PCSB include a garage sale at Jane Cox's, and Belk's Charity Days on May 2, 2015. However we are most excited about a Casino Cruise fundraiser on June 6, 2015. It will be leaving from Cape Canav-

eral with ticket price at $30, which needs to be purchased in advance from Cathy Decker. So come out and join us on the ocean and try your hand at the slots or whatever your game of choice is. Food and drink are included.

Our club once again received a grant for pilot international! This time it is for project life saver with the Lee County sheriff's office. The club was instrumental in getting the program started several years ago. Now the award of the matching grant will provide $5000 to purchase needed equipment for the program. The club has provided a donation from fund raising monies every year, but this year, it will be bigger!
