conƟnued... THE WEEKLY WORD EPIPHANY PARISH OF SEATTLE . NOVEMBER 26, 2012 Stewardship Reϐlection By Steve Clemons Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and who- ever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under com- pulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abun- dantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6‐8 It’s Fall. How do I know? Oh yes, the leaves are turning many colors and the rain has returned. And yes, the holiday decorations have popped up and, shock among shocks, Christmas kitsch is also pop‐ ping up in stores. Yes Fall has arrived. But another reason I know Fall has arrived is it marks the beginning of our annual Stewardship season where we take time to reϐlect on how we as parishioners live up to our responsibilities as managers of Epiphany’s ϐinancial future. Last year, I was asked to stand before the congregation and give my testimony on Stewardship. Getting in front of the congregation was a challenge, but getting prepared for the presentation was a joyful exercise in learning about my responsibility as a Christian, not only to Epiphany, but also to my family, my environment, and how my life is presented to others outside our communities. Stewardship is, after all, a Christian command. This year though, I want to focus our Stewardship responsibility a little more narrowly to that of the needs of our parish. We have seen incredible growth in the past three years, and we have been extremely blessed with the leadership of the staff and lay volun‐ teers. We are also blessed by our parishioners who are talented with abilities to bring community together; concerned about how we will make Epiphany thrive for the next 100 years; and willing to give of themselves through attendance and active participation in the many programs now offered on campus.
