DESCRIPTION

The White Box Project is an experiential installation piece that will bring together performers and audiences in a unique way. The White Box will serve as a four-sided platform stage merging the performances of musicians, dancers, artists, and more. A physical white box provides a backdrop of projected images behind these performers in the center of the stage. Spectators in attendance of the event will be able to circle the White Box and experience each performance one at a time on each side, while experiencing them all at once as a whole. As each side of the box has it’s own performer; they are in collaboration with one another. The White Box platform has the capability of being transported virtually anywhere. With no limits to where, when, or what can be presented with the White Box, the potential is endless to what creative experiences and collaborations can be achieved.

The Project

The White Box Project is an experiential installation piece that will bring to-gether performers and audiences in a unique way. The White Box will serves as a four-sided platform stage merging the performances of musicians, dancers, artists and more. A physical white box provides a backdrop of projected images behind these performers in the center of the stage. Spectators in attendance of the event will be able to circle the White Box and experience each performance one at a time on each side while experiencing them all at once as a whole. As each side of the box has it’s own performer; they are in collaboration with one another.

Dancers may be responding to visuals from one side as musicians are responding to actors from another. With this dynamic the performance becomes unique and allows for a higher level of interaction across multiple stages. The viewer can be watching one side of the box but experiencing much more by taking in the full stage as a whole. There is no limit to what may be represented on any side of the White Box or how these creative juxtapositions will play out.

The White Box platform has the capability of being transported virtually anywhere. With this ability the project itself can be installed in various areas, whether in be in the middle of a desert, a mountain field or a city square. This capability allows the box itself to obtain a vast audience in array of different areas by not being confined to a single installed location.

The White Box project aims to obtain an audience who wish to experience live performances and art in a new and compelling way. Wherever the event is held it has the ability to change the experience entirely each time. Each event being a creative work the audience itself becomes a part of the experience and installation and an extension of the project as a whole.

With no limits to where, when, or what can be presented with the White Box, the potential is endless to what creative experiences and collaborations can be achieved.

FRAMEThe white box’s frame is constructed out of one-inch square aluminum tubes, held together by plastic corner connectors. Its construction allows for light weight and relatively easy setup and takedown, allowing easy storage and transport.

OUTER SCREENThe outer layer of fabric is what is actually seen by spectators, and it gives the white box its primary characteristic. It is made of light gray vinyl for rear projection, allowing visuals to be displayed from within. It is attached to the frame by large and secure snap fasteners.

Av EQUIPMENTHoused inside of the white box are four Dell S300 short-throw projectors and a Fender Passport PD250 plus portable PA system, providing the heart and soul of the white box experience. Included is space for computers and means of connecting additional professional equipment. All electronic equipment is powered by a Stanley 5000 Watt generator.

FLOORINGThe white box sits atop a cross-shaped pad of modular UltraDeck2, a portable outdoor event flooring. This not only allows for a more firm surface for the box itself; it also provides a more stable stage area for performers and their respective equipment.
