The main things people liked about Winsford are that it is well located and accessible to attractive countryside, the Flashes and riverside and that there is a good community spirit and friendly people. Many people thought that the shopping centre should be improved and that better leisure and community facilities should be provided for all ages. In more focused workshops people agreed that Winsford needs to be given back its ‘heart’ - a centre of activity and community focus. This should be located at the river in the centre of town and link Over and Wharton to each other the river and the Flashes. The Winsford Neighbourhood Plan

What you told us before

Your Town Council is producing a Winsford Neighbourhood Plan. It creates a real opportunity for the people of Winsford – you - to shape the future of your town.

Over this weekend there are a number of drop-in events that ask your views about the spatial vision for Winsford. At the last consultation weekend, you helped us understand the key issues that concern you in Winsford and shared a wide range of ideas for the future of the town. Now is the time to start to think about what these ideas could mean in reality.

It is important for the Neighbourhood Plan process to be based on your views. Come and visit us at one of the drop in events at:

• 10 am -1 pm outside ASDA

• 3 pm - 7 pm outside Morrisons

• Focus group at the Dingle Centre from 6 -7:30 pm

1. All new development must support the Town Centre.

2. A focal point must be created at the river crossing, and this must link to the Town Centre to create a ‘heart’ to Winsford.

3. The River Weaver valley must be integrated into the town, with good pedestrian and cycle links to and around it.

Key principles In the consultation you told us that improving the town centre and creating a heart for Winsford at the river is very important for you.

To achieve this Winsford needs to attract investment and footfall. In today’s economic climate it is difficult to attract investment. Developers are cautious but will become interested in town centre retail developments if more people live in close proximity to the town centre and therefore are more likely to use it. Investors will also be more likely to be interested if Winsford has a positive image and is perceived as a good town.

With the Vision and your comments in mid, the key overall priority is to create a ’heart’ in the centre of the town. To do this, there are three key principles for growth in Winsford:

It is important for the Neighbourhood Plane process to be based on your views. Please use the available feedback forms or posters to give us your views and opinions of the plan so far.
