The Writer’s Post Issue #5, Fall 2016 Welcome to the Fall 2016 semester! Dear students, Welcome to the Fall 2016 semester in the Writing Program at CSI! The Writing Program consists of all ENG 111 and 151 courses. So, if you are enrolled in ENG 111 or ENG 151 this semester, you can consider yourself part of our Writing Program community. (And, even if you’re not in a 111 or 151 course, but you still want to be a part of our community, we welcome you!) So, what does it mean to be a part of the Writing Program community? Well, first, it means that you are part of a large, exciting group of writers. And, by writers, we don’t just mean people who sit down with pen and paper to write essays. Yes, this is writing. But writing is more than this. It is also writing narratives and letters. It is creating texts on a computer – things like websites, tweets, and blog posts. It is researching and drafting, receiving feedback, giving feedback. It is, put simply, creating something that communicates your perspectives and ideas, something you are proud to share with an audience, something that lets you interact with the world around you. Second, being a part of the Writing Program community means that you have access to really helpful resources that can support you as a writer.
