We couldn’t ask for a better summer day on Saturday, June 4th for our 5th Annual Auto Show at the Jack DeVito Veteran’s Memorial Field. The event started off with a moving flag ceremony conducted by the American Legion Post 1009. More than 30 new car models were on display from local dealerships, a hook and ladder truck with the stars and stripes hanging from its extended ladder conducted “tours” for the kids and the various vendors and children’s rides made the event a great success and a fun family outing. George Lucciola our Chairman of the event and his entire committee deserve our thanks for putting this show together.

Our June 27th Networking Meeting at NY Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital was well attended giving every one there a chance to see their neighborhood medical facility as an “out patient.”

This year we are awarding five $1,500 scholarships and one $2,500 Constance Petri Scholarship to local high school seniors at our Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Awards Dinner on July 11 at Little Sorrento Restaurant. This evening is made memorable to the students by having invited all donors who have contributed to this fund throughout the year be present to wish them success.

At our Member Appreciation Night Dinner on August 16th, we will

be honoring the following members for their contributions and support of the Chamber: Dr. Tasios G. Vakkas of Yorktown Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Cathy Corbi of Apple Bank, MaryEllen Herzog of the Pupil Personnel Services/Lakeland Education Foundation, Tim Beachak of Signs, Inc. and Joseph Riina of Site Designs Consultants. Please plan to attend to help us honor these very fine members at Little Sorrento Restaurant, 3565 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY at 6:00pm. Tickets are $40pp. Please call the office to make your reservations. 914-245-4599.

Finally, the excitement of our 8th Annual Yorktown Festival and Street Fair is starting up again. Go on WWW.YORKTOWNCHAMBER.COM to see how best you can promote your business by buying a flag to fly on the hamlets of Yorktown, your name on a banner in the center of town or as a vendor? 20,000 attended last year. Remember, first come first served!

As always my door is open to all members with any concerns or suggestions.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! Eric DiBartolo President
