For a New Beginning
by John O Donohue
In the out of way places of the heart Where your thoughts never think to wander
This beginning has been quietly forming
Waiting until you are ready to emerge.
For a long time it has watched your desire Feeling the emptiness grow inside of you
Noticing how you willed yourself on Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.
It watched you play with the seduction of safety And the grey promises that sameness whispered
Heard the wave of turmoil rise and relent Wondered would you always live like this.
Then the delight, when your courage kindled, And out you stepped onto the new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream A path of plenitude opening before you.
Though your destination is not clear You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning That is one with your life’s desire.
Awaken your spirit to adventure
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm For your soul senses the world that awaits you.
I am looking forward to preaching among you this weekend
as we celebrate Palm/Passion Sunday. I am excited for you
about the beginning that Marty Dunbar and his family bring to John Wesley. Keep them in your prayers and they make
this transition and come to serve among you.
Grace and peace,
Jim

When asked why he got involved in Stephen Ministry

New Infant Celebration!
Introducing Margaret
Grace Reding, daughter
of Matt and Theresa
Reding. Little Maggie
was born on February 17,
2015. She weighed 8 lbs,
4 ozs. and measured 20-
1/2 inches long. Also
welcoming Maggie are
her big sister, Scarlett,
and her grandparents,
John Wesley members,
Debbie and Philip
Reding. Little Maggie
was born on Philip’s birthday!
As you can see in the photo, this precious child has a
tiny, sweet face framed by lots of dark hair. I was
fortunate to be able to visit her shortly after her birth and
she completely warmed my heart with her radiant smile.
She lay nestled comfortably in her mother’s arms as I
presented her with the Methodist Holy Bear that signifies
God’s love and our care as a congregation.
What a joy to welcome this baby into our midst. We at
JWUMC are enriched by the abundance of Christ’s
blessings. As a church family, we recognize that this tiny
bundle of love is a huge part of His grace bestowed on us.
We pray Christ’s richest blessings upon this family as
they raise their child in the glow of Jesus’ love.
