Volunteers NeededStudents at Lakeview High School will get the opportunity to practice interviewing for a job. This is to hone their skills, build their confidence, and connect them to the employers around their school and homes.

We’re looking for volunteers to interview these students. We provide you the questions to ask and the criteria to score their effectiveness. We just need your time. You could also choose instead to review resumes and give feedback on whether their resume would land them an interview or not.

The event will take place on October 17. Please contact Kara Asmus at the Chamber if you would like to volunteer, [email protected] or 402-564-2769.

Show Off Your Skills and Your Cool Ride!

October Something Good On the Go

Area first graders will get a rare opportunity to look inside, and if you’re willing, climb into the specialized equipment you use at work at Vehicle Day 2018. Imagine what a thrill it is to a 7-year-old child to get up close to a truck, a street sweeper, a payloader, or a fire truck.

What kinds of vehicles are used in your workplace? Would you mind spending a few hours showing your machinery to little children? This event provides an early introduction to STEM careers. It sparks their interest and curiosity. It connects children to the people and jobs in their community.

The event is at Ag Park in Columbus on Friday, October 12 from 10:45 am to 2:25 pm. Vehicles must be parked and ready to show by 10:45 am.

The first bus arrives at 11:00 am or slightly before that. The final bus departs at 2:20 pm.

Please contact Kara Asmus at 564-2769 or [email protected] to register your workplace vehicle. Think with a broad mind. We have more children than usual attending this year and we will need lots of things for them to look at. They are truly interested in every piece of equipment at this event.
