Date of Event: Theme: Shining in the Light of His Radiant Glory! Supporting Scripture: Exodus 33:18-34 thru Exodus 34:7, and Exodus 34: 27-35 This story shows how God revealed His glory to Moses, and how Moses reflected that glory, literally. How can we see and reflect God’s glory. Budget: Location: Speaker/Topic: Idea #1: Exodus 33:23 talks about how God revealed only His back to Moses. To see God’s back means you can only see where God has passed by. You can see Him thru the evidence of Him in your life. Can others see where God has “passed by” in your life? Have two to three women give very short testimonies of how God revealed Himself to them personally. Remind ladies that they each have these times in their lives, and they can hold onto those moments and draw faith from them in the future when they may forget how faithful God is. 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “If we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.” Idea #2: Exodus 34:27-35 discusses how Moses was radiant because he spent so much time with God. How often do we spend time with Him? Spending time with God should have such an effect that people will know you’ve been with Him! When you shine for God, it has to be seen. No one can hide their light under a basket and expect to be seen. The speaker should encourage the women to “radiate” thru their community. Idea #3: To be radiant like Moses, we must be pure, refined. Something dirty and smudged can’t radiate light. Have you asked God to make you shine? (Present the gospel here. This could be a great object lesson, using a smudged mirror or a dirty piece of cloth that can be made clean/sparkling white.) Idea #4: The Ten Commandments were another proof of God’s Glory. He brought the Israelites out of slavery, and He presented these laws to keep them out of bondage to sin as well. They were the Israelite’s part of a covenant with God. Sadly, NO ONE can keep all the commandments. That’s why Jesus came! Share how it’s not good enough just to be a good person; we must know Christ as our salvation. Music: Shining in the Light of His Glory Mixer/Opening Activity: See who can name all Ten Commandments without help!

Skit: There is no skit, but to make it multi-media, consider showing one of the following:Beth Moore’s video on God revealing His Glory to Moses, and how this was reflected by her grandmother in her own life. This is in A Woman’s Heart, God’s Dwelling Place.

Ray Vanderlaan also has a video clip on this scene from the Bible in his Faith Lessons from the Bible series (volume 9).

Most chapels have copies of both of these in the library.

Decorations: The Ten Commandments set on little easels. (Have a small sheet of paper to cover these when the mixer/contest is going on, otherwise ladies will be tempted to look!)

Have I met the Four Aims of PWOC?

Lead: The gospel could be presented here in several ways, discussed in speaker’s option #3 and #4.Teach: The Ten Commandments are part of the basis of our lifestyle as Christians. This carries back to our Jewish roots. While it’s important to realize we are all sinners, and we can’t be perfect, we can use the Ten Commandments to strive towards living a life that honors God. Develop: The programs committee is developing their spiritual gifts and talents as they plan and execute the program for their sisters.Involve: When you shine for God, it has to be seen. No one can hide their light under a basket and expect to be seen. The speaker should encourage the women to radiate God’s love thru their community. Talk about ways this can be done in their community.
