Venez vivre l’émotion de la découverte !Surplombant l’estuaire de la Gironde, à quelques km de Talmont, le site archéologique du Fâ à Barzan, en Charente-Maritime dévoile peu à peu les restes d’une ville prospère ayant joué un rôle économique de premier plan à l’époque gallo-romaine, sans doute l’une des plus importantes villes portuaires antiques de la façade atlantique. À travers son musée, un parcours de visite extérieur le long des vestiges mis en valeur et de nombreuses animations tout au long de l’année, le site archéologique du Fâ invite aujourd’hui petits et grands à découvrir l’histoire du lieu et mieux comprendre la vie gallo-romaine.

L’auberge-musée du caviar et de l’esturgeon est un lieu d’animation culturelle associatif qui raconte et fait revivre l’histoire du caviar français et de l’esturgeon de l’estuaire européen, acipenser sturio, localement appelé créac, pendant plus de la première moitié du XXème siècle.L’ancienne auberge de l’esturgeon et le village de St-Seurin d’Uzet sont des lieux historiques de la préparation et de la dégustation du caviar de la Gironde, premier caviar produit en France dans les années 1920, grâce à la Maison Prunier, célèbre restaurant parisien et opérateur historique pendant plus de 50 ans. Come and live the emotions of discovery!Overhanging on the Gironde Estuary, a few km from Talmont, the archaeological site the Fâ in Barzan in Charente Maritime reveals little by little the vestige of a flourishing village that played an economical important role in the Gallo-Roman time, probably one of the most important antique ports of the Atlantic coast. Through its museum and its outdoor visit along the vestige with many entertainments all year round, the Fâ invites every one to discover the story of the place and the way of living back in the Gallo-Roman time.

The Caviar and Sturgeon museum and hostel is an animated cultural place where the story of French Caviar and Sturgeon from the European Estuary, locally called “créac,” is told.The old Sturgeon hostel and the village of Saint Seurin d’Uzet are historical places for the preparation and tasting of the Gironde Caviar, first Caviar ever produced in France in 1920, thanks to the Prunier house, a well known Parisian restaurant and historical figure for over 50 years. This is the reason why the village still has the name of Caviar capital in France.

After climbing 300 steps in a blue Opal interior, a 360° panorama offers breathtaking views of La Tremblade “Côte Sauvage” and its wonderful beaches, the Coubre forest, the Gironde estuary, and Oléron.The visit continues in the lighthouse base with a museum relating this “light giant’s” history and the different equipment required to function.On site: an exhibition room and a shop. In July and August, a food truck is available for refreshments and throughout summer every tuesday and thursday during sunset, a commented climb of the lighthouse is offered.

With over 70 000 visitors each season, the municipal caves of Regulus are an essential site of tourism in Charente-Maritime. Located 15kms away from Royan, the caves of Regulus are open to the public from April 6 to November 11 2018. Overlooking the Gironde estuary and dug into limestone cliffs, “holes” of Meschers welcome you in a unique place. Originally natural, the caves of Meschers were enlarged by mankind to become a troglodytic housing in the 19th century.Guided tours, treasure hunt for children, Garden snail Rally (school groups), night animations and visits, are some of the animations that will allow you to discover or re-discover the caves of Meschers’ magic.

Le musée est installé dans l'ancienne gare de Mornac sur Seudre, vieille de plus de 130 ans et dont l'utilisation en service régulier a cessé vers la fin des années 70. Depuis cette gare, partaient des wagons chargés de sel, d'huîtres, de crabes cuits et même de la poudre de coquille d'huîtres.Ce musée a été créé et est géré par une équipe de bénévoles passionnés et regroupés au sein de l'association du Chemin de Fer Touristique de la Seudre (CFTS). Cette association a permis, en faisant circuler un train touristique pendant 19 années, la sauvegarde du patrimoine ferroviaire entre Saujon et la Tremblade.Juillet et août : tous les jours de 14h30 à 18h30.

L'ermitage Saint-Martial est un ancien ermitage devenu monastère. Habitat troglodytique en partie monolithe creusé entièrement dans la falaise calcaire. Le site jouit d'un emplacement privilégié tant pour la vue que pour le climat. La tradition donne comme fondateur du site Saint-Martial, premier évêque de Limoges et évangélisateur de nos régions au IVe siècle.

Au cœur de l’histoire, entre terre et merAprès une fermeture de quelques mois pour réactualisation complète du parcours permanent, le Musée de Royan ouvrira à nouveau ses portes courant 2020. Le musée retrace l’histoire de Royan : des origines à la révolution, l'estuaire : dangers et anges gardiens (le phare de Cordouan, candidat au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, le plus ancien phare de France encore en activité), l’histoire des pilotes de la Gironde, les bains de mer : la ruée vers l’or bleu (développement du tourisme balnéaire à partir du XIXe siècle), le séjour de Pablo Picasso à Royan, la seconde guerre mondiale à Royan (l’occupation, les bombardements et la libération), la résilience : les trente Glorieuses, le cabinet de curiosités.

The museum is located in the old train station of Mornac-sur-Seudre, a more than 130 year old train station which was used as a regular service until the end of the 70’s. Trains were departing from this train station, loaded with salt, oysters, cooked crabs and even oyster shell powder. This museum was founded and is managed by a team of passionate volunteers, regrouped into the “Chemin de fer Touristique de la Seudre” (CFTS) association. This association saved the railway heritage between Saujon and La Tremblade by operating a touristic train for 19 years.In May, June and September: Saturday and Sunday.In July and August: every day, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Classified as one of the oldest monolithic sites in France, the Ermitage Saint-Martial was dug by boatmen monks into the cliff, more than 30 meters high. At a time when the estuary was bathing the bottom of the cliff, the work of the monks was to cross on a boat to the Medoc bank with travelers. The most astonishing place is the chapel, reminding us of those we can find in Greece or Turkey.Open from Wednesday to Sunday, commented visits starting from the gate: Summer Schedule: 2:30 pm; 3:30 pm; 4:30 pm; 5:30 pm.Winter Schedule: 2:30 pm; 3:30 pm; 4:30 pm.Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and bad weather days.

The Museum of Royan is located in the heart of Pontaillac, Royan historical area, in the old marketplace. Its collections are presented in a complete chronological order, allowing us to learn more about Royan’s rich history. The permanent collection is evolving around the following themes:- Royan, the emergence of a city, from Antiquity to 17th century.- The seaside tourism development during the 19th century.- The Pablo Picasso’s stay in Royan.- The Second World War in Royan.- The city’s rebuilding.Each year a new temporary exhibit is presented in the museum central hall.In 2019, the museum will receive the “Everyone at the beach!” exposition.

Situé en pleine mer, habité à l’année par des gardiens et ouvert à la visite, le phare de Cordouan est un joyau d’architecture conçu à la gloire des rois de France. Il guide les marins à l’embouchure de l’estuaire depuis plus de 400 ans. Il faudra gravir 301 marches menant à la lanterne avant de profiter, suspendu entre ciel et mer, d’un panorama hors normes. Ce site absolument unique est candidat pour une inscription sur la liste du Patrimoine Mondial de l’UNESCO.L’accès au site se fait uniquement avec les croisières la Sirène au départ du port de Royan (p 16) ou par votre propre bateau à marée basse et les horaires et conditions de débarquement varient quotidiennement. Situé dans un cadre unique, Le Parc de l’Estuaire, un site des Échappées Nature du Département de la Charente-Maritime, fait face à l’embouchure de l’estuaire de la Gironde. Perché sur une falaise et niché dans la forêt de Suzac, cet Espace Naturel Sensible et protégé propose à ses visiteurs (petits et grands) une découverte ludique de la nature en autonomie (jeu d’aventure, tour de guet, espaces d’exposition) ou en compagnie d’animateurs nature passionnés (sorties nature, visites familiales, …).

Monument Historique incontournable de St-Georges, le phare de Vallières vous offrira une vue panoramique inoubliable sur les conches avoisinantes et l'horizon océanique.

Achevé en 1902, cette tour carrée de 36 m et 144 marches, réalisée en pierre calcaire, repose sur une embase granitique au beau milieu d'un site sauvage en bord de falaise.

Après la visite du phare, vous pourrez ainsi prolonger votre balade en flânant dans les jardins, jusqu'à la stèle commémorative de l'opération Frankton, qui fait face à la pointe de Grave.

La Communauté d’Agglomération Royan Atlantique a souhaité dédier ce lieu à la création artistique et à la contemplation du littoral.Jusqu'au 10 novembre 2020 : Exposition « CharlElie Couture poète rock et multiste » : artiste franco-américain « multiste », poète, peintre et musicien. Connu depuis les années 80 pour ses chansons, il poursuit une œuvre de création entre écriture, arts visuels et musique. Categorized as a historical monument, built in the 14th century by order of the Prince Noir, Cordouan is the most beautiful and oldest lighthouse in France. In 1584, the construction was launched by Michel de Montaigne, mayor of Bordeaux, under the direction of Louis de Foix. The works will last 27 years until 1611 and the building will be called Royal Work.At a height of 67.5 meters, it has six floors in the Renaissance style and allows visitors to admire the breathtaking view of the Gironde estuary, the Côte d'Arvert and the Coubre tip.

The Communauté d’Agglomération Royan Atlantique wanted to dedicate this place to art and the contemplation of the coastline.Exhibition 4th April to 1st Novembre 2020 : « CharlElie COUTURE Poete Rock Multist » - Franco-American multist: poete, painter and musician. Known since the 80’s for his songs, he follows a work of writting, visual art and music. His work is a holiday around the question how to define yourself between a conscious perception of the world and flows of emotions that transport you elsewhere.

Aménagé dans l'ancienne école, ce musée fait revivre l'histoire talmonaise en mettant particulièrement en avant l'activité de pêche, principale source de richesse locale. Les collections proviennent de passionnés locaux et sont mises en lumière par la Société des Amis de Talmont.

Il présente de façon vivante l'histoire du site. La "Ville close", construite par les Anglais en 1284, détruite par les Espagnols en 1652, faillit devenir un port Américain en 1917 puis une marina en 1972 ! Un film récent montre les deux presqu’îles aux quatre saisons et de superbes vue du ciel.Dans le jardin, ancienne cour de récréation, un Musée de la pêche dans l'estuaire complète la visite.

Près du pont de l’île d'Oléron, visitez celui que l'on surnomme "le petit frère de Fort Boyard". Ce fort maritime, édifié par Vauban, est construit en mer sur le rocher du Chapus. Il est relié au port par une chaussée submersible de 400m. L'accès se fait à pied ou en bateau selon la saison et les marées.

À ne pas manquer, pour les enfants des énigmes et un jeu de piste adaptés selon les âges et pour toute la famille, des jeux en bois et un studio photo pour s'immortaliser en costume d'époque.

Située dans un environnement exceptionnel entre pontons et bassins de claires, la Cité de l'Huître vous propose à travers des parcours, des initiations, des jeux, des activités, des films, de vous faire vivre l'univers de l'huître, de ses hommes, de son environnement, de sa dégustation. La Cité de l’Huître propose des animations quotidiennes, visite animée d'une ferme ostréicole, initiation à l'ouverture des huîtres, initiation aux huîtres chaudes. Visite, animations et prêt de vélos inclus dans votre billet d'entrée. Set in the old school, this museum tells the story and history of Talmont, especially the local rich fishing activity.The collections come from locals passionate about their past and enhanced by the Amis de Talmont society. They present the story of the site. La Ville Close built by the English in 1284 destroyed by the Spanish in 1652, almost became an American harbor in 1917 and a marina in 1972!A recent film shows the 2 peninsulas through the 4 seasons and a superb sky view.In the garden, old playground, fishing in the estuary museum completes the visit.

Close to the Oléron Bridge, visit the fort called “younger brother of Fort Boyard”. Erected by Vauban, this maritime fort is built by the sea on the Chapus’ rock. It’s connected to the port by a 400m submersible road. Depending on the season and tides, the access is made by foot or by boat. Not to miss: riddle games and treasure hunt for children adapted for all ages, and for the whole family, wood games and a photo studio to capture yourselves in period costumes.

Véritable machine à remonter le temps, le Paléosite de Saint-Césaire vous emmène sur les traces de l'homme de Néandertal... En 1979, le site archéologique de la Roche à Pierrot, à proximité du Paléosite a livré les restes d'un squelette néandertalien. Quelques années plus tard, Le Paléosite voyait le jour. Un bâtiment de 2000 m2 climatisé et scénographié, niché dans un parc naturel de 10 ha entièrement consacré à l'homme de Néandertal et à l'évolution. Vous y découvrirez des collections archéologiques scénographiées, un parcours interactif, un parcours extérieur avec reconstitutions grandeur nature et des animations préhistoriques pour petits et grands (WE et vacances scolaires) : taille du silex, allumage du feu, art pariétal ou encore tir au propulseur. Restaurant et snack sur place.

Sitôt passé les grilles, vous entrez dans l'univers paisible et accueillant du Parc de Beaulon - Classé Label Jardin Remarquable. Un vénérable frêne tricentenaire marque l'allée qui conduit au cœur du sous-bois, aux mystérieuses "Fontaines Bleues", sources naturelles dont les eaux profondes, calmes et sereines présentent une coloration bleu-foncé, étrange et magique. Au retour, admirez le Pigeonnier aux 1500 nids balayés par son échelle tournante et la façade nord du Château édifiée en 1480 et son imposante lucarne gothique flamboyant. Pour ponctuer votre visite, vous serez accueilli dans un salon du Château où vous pourrez déguster des Cognac et Pineau d'exception.

As a true back-in-time machine, the Paleosite of Saint-Césaire takes you in the footsteps of Neanderthal man. In 1979, in the archeological site of “Roche à Pierrot” close to the Paleosite remains of a Neanderthal man were unearthed. A Few years later the Paleosite was born. A building of 2000m2 in a natural park of 10ha complitely devoted to the evolution of Neanderthal man. Come and discover staged archeological collections, an interactive circuit, an outdoor circuit with life-size reconstructions, prehistoric animations for children and adults during week-ends and school holidays: knapping flints, fire lighting, parietal art, or “propeller” shooting.On site: restaurant and snack-bar.

Straight after the gates, overlooked by the high Renaissance tower, you enter the peaceful and welcoming place of the Park of Beaulon. A priceless tercentennial ash tree starts the alley leading to the undergrowth and to the mysterious “Blue Fountains”, calm and peaceful dark-blue deep water natural sources, a strange and magical place.As you come back, take a look at the 1500 nest dovecote accessible by its turning ladder, and the mansion’s Northern face built in 1480 with its massive Gothic roof window.To end your visit, you will be invited into a lounge where you will taste outstanding Cognac and Pineau.

Le Petit Train de l'Ouest vous propose 3 circuits touristiques commentés et scénarisés pour découvrir d'une façon originale et agréable Royan, St-Georges de Didonne et la Côte de Beauté : - 40 minutes : Royan centre-ville + Pontaillac (8 km) - 1 heure : Royan centre-ville + St-Georges de Didonne par la corniche de Vallières (12 km) - 1 heure 30 min. : combiné des deux circuits (18 km) pendant les vavances de février : 14h30 (40 min), 15h30 (1h00), 16h45 (1h00).1er avril au 30 sept. : tous les jours (sauf samedi hors juillet-août) + les week-ends en octobre et les vacances de la Toussaint. Pensez à privatiser le Petit Train pour vos événements (sorties scolaires, mariages, congrès, séminaires, salons...) !

Sur l’ancienne ligne ferroviaire dite du "Train des Huîtres", entre Saujon et La Tremblade, Le Train des Mouettes est tracté sur 21 km, par une de ses deux locomotives à vapeur, datées de 1912, et de 1891, la plus vieille en état de fonctionnement en France. Autrefois utilisé pour le transport de marchandises : le sel, la résine, le vinaigre et les huîtres, aujourd’hui l’exploitation du Train des Mouettes est assurée par l’association Trains & Traction, avec le soutien du département de la Charente-Maritime. À bord des voitures du début du XXème siècle, vous découvrez auprès des bénévoles un train empreint d'histoire. Pour cette saison 2020, en raison des travaux de construction du port de La Tremblade, Le Train des Mouettes circulera entre Saujon et Chaillevette en mai, juin et septembre. Le trajet classique entre Saujon et La Tremblade est maintenu en juillet et août.

The Petit Train de l’Ouest offers 3 organised, commented and staged trips to discover Royan, St-George-de-Didonne and the Côte de Beauté in an original way. Departure: “Petit Train” train station in the centre of the promenade (central roundabout bus stop).Circuits: 40 minutes : Royan city-center + Pontaillac (8km) - 60 minutes: Royan city-center + St-Georges-de-Didonne by Vallières cliffs (12km) - 90 minutes: a mix with the 2 circuits (18km). For groups: every day by reservation, starting with 20 people. Discount price, ask us! For your special events, think about private hire of the Petit Train (school trips, weddings, congresses, seminars, fairs, etc.).

On the odl railway called « Train des Huitres » (oyster train), between Saujon and la Tremblade, Les Mouettes train is towed on for 21km, by one of the two steam engine, dated from 1912 and 1891, the oldest still working in France. In old times they were used to transport salt, resin, vinegar and oysters., our days Today the Train des Mouettes is used by the association Trains & traction, with the help of the Charente Maritime departments. On board of the wagon from the 20th centuary, discover a train full of history. Précurseur dans la création de Vins Charentais depuis 1975, il nous a communiqué sa passion du vin et du travail de la vigne. Principalement axé sur la production de cognac, le domaine de la Chauvillière se tourne vers les vins de pays dès 1981 lorsque les premiers plants de Chardonnay sont plantés. Les vins rouges arriveront en 1988. Aujourd’hui, c’est près d’un tiers du vignoble qui est consacré aux vins de pays charentais. La famille Hauselmann vous propose une gamme de produits élaborés et mis en bouteille à la propriété : vins de pays charentais, pineaux des Charentes et vieux cognacs Bon Bois vieillis en fût de chêne.Nos vins, pineaux et cognac sont disponibles à la vente dans notre cave du lundi au samedi de 10h00 à 12h30 et de 13h30 à 19h00.Membre adhérent à l’association « Terr’océannes ».
