These Release Notes announce the distribution of release 7.0, Commercial Update 1, which includes enhancements, problem fixes, and known issues/workarounds since 7.0 Beta Update 8.

Based on your feedback, and on our continuing efforts to improve suresmile’s performance and ease of use, we have made the following enhancements:

Based on feedback from our doctors during

the beta testing of suresmile 7.0, we have

reduced the number of clicks required to

open and display multiple images for a

single patient. A new tool activated by a

small icon in the Image Selection window

(montage selection tool) is used to open

multiple images. Clicking this small icon

displays the image in a separate window

that is about ¼ the size of your computer

screen. Drag a corner of the window to

make it larger. You can display as many

images as you want.

We recommend that you drag the newly

opened images to a secondary computer

monitor, so that they remain visible while

you work on the main suresmile page.

To open an image on the Image Selection window in a separate window:

1. From your treatment planning workspace, click the Image menu

2. Click the Select Images icon.

IMPORTANT: This feature is intended primarily for users with two or more monitors. If you are using suresmile with a single monitor only, when you click off the image and back onto the main suresmile page, the main suresmile page comes to the forefront and the image is hidden behind it. To retrieve the image, press Alt+Tab on your computer keyboard repeatedly until the image you want appears on your screen.

3. The Image Selection window opens. Click to highlight the image you want to open in a separate window, and then click the small icon in the top left corner.

4. The image opens in a new window about ¼ the size of your computer screen. Note the camera

navigation controls over the image allow you to move, rotate, spin or zoom the image as needed. Click and drag a corner of the window to make it larger or smaller.

5. To keep the image or images displayed as you work on the case, click and drag the image to your

secondary monitor. 6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to display additional images.



Enhancements (continued)


27710 3D Export Exported 3D models now have shortened file names

Depending on which arch model you exported, suresmile appended either "Maxilla" or "Mandible" to the .stl file name, creating a file name that was too long. This has been corrected. Now either Up (upper) or Lw (lower) is appended to the file name.

27699 Patient Management

Items under Task owner preferences renamed to match 7.0

In Preferences under the Task Owner tab, in response to customer feedback and to reduce any possible confusion, we renamed several of the labels under Items to use terminology consistent with suresmile 7.0.

Notes Popup should default to current product

In response to your feedback, the Notes in the Patient Overview now default* to the most recent product to allow you to see notes and other communications from the DL about the current product, and to send back responses or other notes to the DL as necessary. *If the product is on customer hold or has been rejected, then the customer hold or reject notice will be displayed instead.

In the treatment planning or wire design workspaces, the Patient Notes are displayed by default when you click the Notes button. This feature is similar to the popular yellow notepad feature in 6.0. It allows you to enter notes regarding setup design, treatment planning and other notes about the patient. You can keep and refer to these notes throughout the patient’s treatment.


Task owners can be changed for all active tasks

Before this update, changing task owner roles under Preferences did not change the owner for previously created tasks. This was incorrect. Once you change a task owner role, all active tasks should be changed. This has been corrected. Now when you change the owner of a task, the owner for all active tasks of this type is changed as well.

Wires Design Wire selectors and Wire Inserted Today buttons added to Wire Order tab

Based on your feedback, we’ve added a wire materials and size selector to the wire Order tab. This selector is the same as in suresmile 6.0. Before this update, you could only select the wire material and size from the Wire tab. This time saving enhancement allows you to quickly change the size and material as you are ordering your wires. We’ve also added the same Wire Inserted buttons that are on the timeline onto the Order tab in the wire design workspace. This saves you several clicks, since you can now quickly mark the wires as inserted on the timeline without having to actually open the timeline and click the wire. Once you click the button it becomes gray and is unavailable.

Tooltips missing for several patient overview icons

Tooltips were missing for several icons on the patients overview page This has been corrected.

Patient Management

Special character in patient HRID caused an error

Any special character in a patient HRID, (such as an apostrophe, accent mark, etc.) caused an error message and prevented the geometry engine from running, thus preventing the 3D models from being displayed. This issue has been corrected. Special characters in the patient HRID will no longer cause errors.


Release Hold button not working for Wires

The Release Hold button did not work for wires. This has been corrected.


Wire Inserted buttons in timeline not working

Before this update, when you were in the practice overview and clicked on the eye icon on a patient card to open the timeline, and then clicked on a wire to display the upper and lower wires, the Wire Inserted buttons there did not function. This has been corrected and the buttons are now functioning as intended.

27717 Photos & x-rays Image set image not presenting correctly

Thumbnails and some large views of images were not presenting correctly for a practice. This problem was investigated and corrected.

27654 Scans Error submitting .stl update scan

A single practice had issues when submitting an update scan in .stl format. This has been fixed.

27212 surescan Problems connecting to patient database

If the surescan system date was set one day ahead of the servers at Amazon, it was possible to log in, but not to connect to any database. This issue has been corrected. No user action is required.

26978 Task Management

Task remains in suresmile after scan completed in surescan

After taking a scan in surescan, the task to order the therapeutic scan still remained displayed in suresmile on the browser. This has been corrected.


Incorrect Provide Records task shown

A Provide Records task persisted even though a new image set had been added. This has been corrected.


Task Owners not listed alphabetically on Tasks For menu

The Tasks For filter menu on the practice overview page did not list the task owners alphabetically. This has been corrected. Task owners are now listed alphabetically by first name.


Provide records task reminder persisting

A Provide records task reminder still displayed even if all brackets and photos had been assigned. This has been corrected.

27604 Treatment Planning

No quality score for overjet

The quality score for overjet was not displayed for the posterior segment. This has been corrected.


Practice tooth feature points overwritten

Doctor and Digital Lab changes to the tooth feature points were being overwritten by the system generated tooth feature points each time a product changed state as it went back and forth between the doctor and the Digital Lab. This has been corrected. Doctor and Digital Lab tooth feature points are no longer overwritten by the system tooth feature points as they change product state.


Bounding box navigation handles too small in Facial Smile view

When you displayed a smile photo in the 3D-main window, the bounding box navigation handles were not resized correctly and were too small. This has been corrected.

MACROS Midline options incorrectly selected by default

When you created a new setup or simulation, suresmile would incorrectly automatically check both check boxes in the Midline section of the MACROS under Achieve Midline by: and select the same options for everyone.

This was incorrect, as the check boxes should have been left unchecked and the options underneath should have been left blank by default.

This has been corrected. Now these options are left blank by default when you create a new setup or simulation.

27753 Wire Design Submit button unavailable for wire order

When a practice tried to order a wire from a Plan 2, the Submit button was unavailable. This has been corrected.

26571 Wire Order Cancel button confused with Cancel Wire Production button

Doctors and staff were confusing the Cancel button next to the wire name with the Cancel Wire Production button. In this update, the OK and Cancel buttons have been removed and replaced with the Save Name and Cancel buttons. (Note: These buttons only appear when you click in the wire name box.)

Occasionally when the Build Up/IPR tab is refreshed, the values in the table are lost. In addition, the Auto m/d Size and Auto Vertical Buildup checkboxes do not retain their checkmarks after you select them.

Type the buildup/IPR values manually into the table.

26522 Wire Design suresmile Calc Slot Filling Torques button clickable when designing round wires

Currently when you are designing a round wire, the Calc Slot Filling Torques button is clickable and calculates slot-filling torque. This is a software defect, as it does not make sense to calculate slot-filling torque for a round wire.

When designing round wires, do not click the Calc Slot Filling Torque button.

27747 Wire Design The wire copy tool for compensation wires does not automatically include your previous wire modifications

After you have created a compensation wire from a progress model, and you want to make a copy of the wire, any modifications you made to this wire are not copied over to the new compensation wire. This is not correct. Any modifications made to the current compensation wire should be copied over to the new compensation wire.

Until a software update is released to correct this defect, use the workaround on following pages.

Compensation Wire Copy Workaround Until a software update is released to correct this defect, use the following workaround:

To copy modifications from one compensation wire to the next,

1. Reopen the progress model.

2. From the Order tab of the progress model, click Create Compensation Wire.



3. The Create Compensation Wire dialog box opens. Select the compensation wire

you want to copy. Remember to select both upper and lower arches. Click OK.

4. Modifications from the previous compensation wire will be copied to the new

compensation wire as intended. Go the wire tab of the new compensation wire to

check that the modifications were copied correctly.
