About us
Since our foundation 1968 the family company VAKO, located in Kreuztal (near Siegen) is a top address for a high-quality production of pressure vessels of any types.
Since 1980 we are specialized in manufacturing vessels for hydrogen storage and hydrogen production (H2 Adsorbers) on our 25.000 m² area including large storage areas.
Reliability, delivery in time, as well as an excellent customer service and a high product quality characterize us since decades. About 50 competent and continously educated employees take care with their long time “know-how“, a professional project management and a modern machinery park for a large manufacturing depth. We are able to plan, construct, design and manufacture oversized products.
On the basis of your operation data, we perform design and strength calcula-tions as well as different static verifications, conform to all applicable design codes and standards.
The special strength of the company VAKO is in the scope of welded pressure vessels and constructions under observance of highest requirements regarding weld qualities and manufacturing tolerances.
Our long time experience in the use of national / international design codes and leaflets supports our customers already today for their special questions and requests, regarding the design and weldable construction of products.

We manufacture vessels and shells up to a diameter of 4.500 mm, a single piece
length of 45.000 mm and a single piece weight of 100 tons, suitable for gases,
liquids, vapors and vacuum.

Our products
Materials used: Carbon-steels, Stainless Steels, Duplex Steels, Fine-grain
steels, heat-resistant steels, e.g. P265GH, P355GH / NH / NL1 / NL2 / QH1,
P460NH / NL1 / NL2, 16Mo3, 13CrMo 4-5, as well as equivalent ASME Grades
SA-516 Gr.60 / SA-516 Gr.70, SA-350 Gr. LF2, SA-387 Gr.11 and others.
Processing of special materials is possible, on agreement.
We design, calculate, and manufacture your product in compliance with
AD-2000 Leaflet, EN 13445, ASME VIII Div. 1, GOST etc.

No Chance for CorrosionIn addition, since the year 2014, we offer for the
protection of your products surface treatments
and paint applications in our facilities with a
ground area of 1.000 m².
In detail these are:
• Prime coatings and full coating systems
(e.g. heat-resistant up to a temperature of 600 °C)
• Inside- and outside coatings acc. to
DIN EN ISO 12944
(Possibility of high solid protection coatings)
• Coatings suitable for drinking water
• Coatings/Applications with a high corrosive
protection category (C4, C5, C5M)
• Drying of Vessels with Nitrogen by the use of
a fixed Nitrogen station at VAKO. (Humidity
reduction of a final closed pressure vessel)
In our closed free-working sandblasting cabine
with 21 m length x 7 m width x 6 m height your
metallic and non-metallic components will be
protected against corrosion by:
• Grit blasting acc. to DIN EN ISO 12944
in quality levels SA 2, SA 2,5 and SA 3
• Blasting with ferrit-free materials
• Blasting with glass beads (Sweeping)

Quality care is our trumpVAKO stands for 100% quality and expert based manufacturing. Every single
component is subject to an extensive internal and external supervision in
respect to material and weld quality. Non-destructive-testing as well as
testing coupons for destructive testing ensure the requested product quality.
The manufacturers QA/QC is specificaly external supervised. Inspections are
carried out by e. g. by TÜV, Lloyds, BV, SGS, Ingenieurbüro F. Braun, etc.
Customer-side inspections or inspections by third party inspection companies
are accompanied by our professional project management.
These extensive efforts pay themselves. We are in the possession of
approvals and certificates e.g. AD-2000 Leaflet HPO, DIN EN 3834, ASME
Certification Mark (U-Stamp), TR CU 0032/2013, §19 WHG, etc.
Since the year 1993 we established a quality management system acc. to
DIN EN ISO 9001. The auditing acc. to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 finished in
September 2018 by TÜV CERT. Furthermore we are qualified and certified
acc. to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Div. 1, with
“Certification Mark“ (former U-Stamp) since the year 2000.
For deliveries to the TR CU customs union (Russian Federation etc.) we
possess a serial certification acc. to TR CU 032/2013 and manufacture selected
pressure vessels acc. to GOST R 52630, (PB 03-576-03 / PB 03-584-03).
