Part 2: Analyze, Arrange, and Apply

Directions:

Analyze

Step 1: Floodplains

- Each location and its corresponding floodplain creates a different flooding scenario. Which floodplain creates the worst situation?

- Rank the floodplains in order from best to worst based on your analysis.

- Explain your ranking for each individual location/floodplain.

Step 2: Flooding and Hurricane Data- Complete the columns that were previously left blank on

the Flooding and Hurricane sections of the Acquire section. Fill in the columns with one of the following grades: A – No risk, B – Low risk, C – Medium risk, D – High risk, F – Very High risk. You may assign multiple A’s, B’s, etc.

Step 3: Fault Data- What types of problems do you anticipate from the fault

data?- Rank the locations in order from worst to best based on

your analysis of fault data.- Explain your ranking for each individual location.

Step 4: Crime Data and Land Prices- Explain how crime data will affect the

recruitment of future students.

- Explain how land prices will affect the recruitment of future students.

- Predict how the Board of Directors and investors will respond to both sets of data.

Analyze Step 5: Other Sources of

Information- Other sources of information

would need to be considered to truly complete this project in a real-life scenario.

- Identify 3 other sources of information that would assist in this process.

- Explain how each source of information would be beneficial.

- Predict which location would benefit the most from the results of this data collection and which location would benefit the least.

Step 6: Conclusion- Of the data that you

collected (and is listed on the right) which data set do you feel is most important to your decision-making process. Rank the six data sets in order from most influential to least influential.

- Hurricane storm surge and potential damage

- Land prices- Crime data

Arrange

• Pick the data set that you feel is most important and arrange it. You may create a graph of any kind, thematic map, Google Earth tour, or see me if you have another idea.

• Include all necessary labels and ensure that your product is accurate. You must include each of the 5 locations in your product

• Where did you put it?

• Go build it for extra credit.
