†hymn BEGINNINGS

This Is a Day of New BeginningsThis is a day of new beginnings, time to remember and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that's gone. For by the life and death of Jesus, God's mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of difference, as faith and hope are born again. Then let us, with the Spirit's daring, step from the past and leave behind our disappointment, guilt, and grieving, seeking new paths, and sure to find. Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do. This a day of new beginnings; our God is making all things new.

†sending forth Dr. Robert E. LongWe may not have all the answers, but we know that we can bring our questions to God.Christ pours out mercy and grace upon us and we have been born anew.God is present to guide and strengthen us; we will live as the people we were born to be.

Rejoice, Ye Pure in HeartRejoice, ye pure in heart; rejoice, give thanks and sing; your glorious banner wave on high, the cross of Christ your King. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing. Your clear hosannas raise, and alleluias loud; whilst answering echoes upward float, like wreaths of incense cloud. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing. Yes, on through life's long path, still chanting as ye go; from youth to age, by night and day, in gladness and in woe. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing. At last the march shall end; the wearied ones shall rest; the pilgrims find their heavenly home, Jerusalem the blest. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing. Praise God who reigns on high, the Lord whom we adore, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, one God forevermore. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks and sing.

†the gosPel Rev. Wendy LambertNow there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born anew.’ The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so it is with every one who is born of the Spirit.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can this be?” (John 3:1 - 9) This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

God of Dawn, Each Day's RenewalGod of dawn, each day's renewal brings the world into Your light. As Your sun defeats the shadows, drives away the darkest night: we would greet this new beginning as Your call to start again, lead us on with hope and courage, make Your will and purpose plain.Holy Spirit, inspiration, light and truth and root of prayer, as Your challenge moves us forward taking us we know not where: we will follow Your direction, though the way may not be clear. Shape us, change us, recreate us, so the future holds no fear.Praise to God, who spoke creation, giving life to time and space. Praise to Christ, whose living presence showed the world Your human face. Praise the Spirit, daily witness to Your everloving way. Take us now and reawake us, challenge us to use this day.

When I was a child, I could see the wind in the trees, and I heard a song in the breeze. It was there, singing out my name. But I am not a girl, I have known the taste of defeat, and I have finally grown to believe it will all come around again. And though I may not know the answers, I can finally say I am free. And if the questions led me here, then I am who I was born to be.And so here am I, open arms and ready to stand. I've got the world in my hands, and it feels like my turn to fly. And though I may not know the answers, I can finally say I am free. And if the questions led me here, then I am who I was born to be.When I was a child, there were flowers that bloomed in the night, unafraid to take in the light, unashamed to have braved the dark. And though I may not know the answers, I can finally say I am free. And if the questions led me here, then I am who I was born to be. I am who I was born to be.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” How do we know the Way? What does it look like to follow Christ? Finding the Way means growing in our knowledge of who Christ is, deepening our faith, and committing our time and effort that we might make a difference. A life lived in Jesus is a better life and so we are committed to following Him. We are committed to Finding the Way.
