2016 CRITERIA SHEET FOR LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS (Information released on February 18, 2016) The following scholarships are available to graduating seniors of Council Rock High School South. These scholarships are categorized as: Need-Based or No-Need. Need-based scholarships MUST be accompanied by a complete copy of the original Student Aid Report (SAR) sent to you as a result of filing of the FAFSA. No other form will be accepted! Read these criteria sheets carefully and check off those scholarships you qualify for at this time. You may apply to as many as you are eligible for, as long as you meet the stipulations as set forth by the sponsoring individuals or organization. A Common Application is attached and it may be used for a great number of the existing scholarships. In addition, those scholarships scored with an asterisk (*) require completion of a separate application. Where there is an individual application, the selection process is usually made by the specific organization. All individual applications are available in the Counseling Center. A few of the scholarship applications are available through the Art Department and are noted as such. You are applying for scholarships sponsored by individuals, families, and organizations. Be sure to represent yourself in a positive manner by completing the applications in a neat, well-written, grammatically correct and timely fashion. The following scholarships are available to graduating seniors of Council Rock High School South. These scholarships are categorized as: Need-Based or No-Need. One Scholarship $250.00

Student must have attended Holland Middle School and is enrolled in some form of higher education. .

Holland Middle School PTO Scholarship

Two $300.00scholarships

Two Scholarships at $300 each, one boy and one girl, must have graduated from Holland Middle School.

*Jimmy Coyle Memorial Scholarship (There is a separate application in the Guidance Office for this scholarship.)

Amount varies Male or Female Athlete accepted in to a four year school or program. Well rounded with leadership qualities, strong character and community oriented

*Rod Hilbert Memorial Scholarship(There is a separate application in the Guidance Office for this scholarship.)

Amount varies Someone with physical handicap or learning disability going on to higher education. Provide GPA and submit a paragraph of your future goals. Submit letter of recommendation from teacher/counselor, and must have financial need - submit EFC

Shamus Digney Memorial Scholarship $500.00 Student participating in sports and demonstrating enthusiasm and extra effort in school.

NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS(THEY CHOOSE)

All of these scholarships have separate applications available in the Counseling Center, a complete copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) must be submitted. Application deadline is April 1, 2016

number varyAverage student, pleasing personality, must be working during the summer. Student has been accepted by college or university.

*Knights of Pythias Scholarship, Defiance Lodge #335

Amount varies Student must be accepted by an accredited college of vocational/technical institute. Must disclose if receiving any other financial aid. Financial need and community service carry equal weight with academics. Full consideration to average students participating in community and service activities are of special interest. A complete copy of the SAR and separate application must be submitted. Interview will be required.

*Carleigh Marie Jones Memorial Scholarship

$1,000.00 Must be attending college. Excellent academics.Extracurricular activities. Community service.

Scholarships Welch Elementary graduate. Student who has been in the Humanities Program. Majoring in Math, Science, or Computer Science.

Bowen’s Barber Shop Scholarship $100.00 scholarship

Male student athlete going on to an accredited college.

Brian’s Harley Davidson Scholarship $750.00 Scholarship

Business Major. Must provide proof.

Bry-Mar Trophy $100 Good all-around student.Churchville Elementary Scholarship Two

$500.00 scholarships

One male, one female. Student must have graduated from Churchville Elementary and is going on to higher education.

Council Rock Administrators’ Educational Scholarship

One scholarship$500.00

Student must be going on to higher education majoring in education. Student should not be receiving any other stipends.

Coyle’s Richboro Music Scholarship One scholarship Good, all around student.

Hillcrest Elementary School Scholarship One scholarship $500.00

Student must be a graduate of Hillcrest Elementary (not same recipient as Rolling Hill’s recipient). Good all-around student.

Holland Elementary PTO School Scholarship

Two $500.00 scholarships

One male and one female scholarship. Student must have graduated from Holland Elementary and enrolled in higher education.

Holland Middle School Faculty Scholarship

Amount varies Student must have attended Holland Middle School for two years, must be in top 50% of class and majoring in education.

Jane Yelle Andrews/Berkshire Hathaway Realtor Scholarship

One scholarship $250.00

Good, all-around student.

Janet Yanny Memorial Scholarship $500.00 Senior who attended Holland Middle School. Preference is given to a student planning to major in education.

Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home Scholarship

$250.00 Student going to a vocational school.

Kiwanis Club of Washington Crossing/Yardley

Two $500.00Scholarships

Student making great academic improvements throughout high school.

Maureen Welch Elementary Amount varies. Good, all-around student graduated from Welch Elementary.Richboro Car Wash One scholarship

$500.00Good, all-around student attending Bucks County Community College,

Richboro Elementary School Association Scholarship

One scholarship$500.00

Student must have attended Richboro Elementary and is enrolled in higher education. Full consideration is given to an average student.

Richboro Middle School Scholarship One scholarship $250.00

Student must have graduated from Richboro Middle School. Average student is eligible. Student is enrolled in higher education and has service to school community.

Rolling Hills Elementary School Scholarship

One scholarship $500.00

Rolling Hills Elementary School Student who has an interest in any of the special arts programs. This could include Art, Music, Golden Wings, or other arts areas.

Team Toyota Scholarship $500.00 Good all-around student.

NO-NEED SCHOLARSHIPS(THEY CHOOSE)

Student who is pursuing a Physical Therapy Degree.Has been active in the school and the community.Proof of major is required.

*Catherine Maynard Fine Arts Scholarship

One scholarship $500

Personal application for the scholarship. Achievement in the visual arts. Enrollment/acceptance in post-high school visual arts. Applications are available in the Art Depart.

*Cindy Abovitz Memorial Scholarship $250.00 Student will be pursuing a career in the medical field.*CR South Alumni Soccer Tony McCourt Scholarship

Amount varies Good all-around student involved in community service having played soccer for CR South.

*Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth Scholarship

$250.00 Student active in promoting healthy decisions regarding substance abuse.

*Council Rock High School South Teaching Staff Memorial Sch.

Number and amount varies

Student must be a child of a CR South High School teaching staff member.

*Council Rock Music Faculty Scholarship

Amount varies Graduating Senior majoring in music (instrumental/vocal performance or music education) at 4yr university/college/conservatory. Must be a member in good standing of at least one high school music performing group. Min 3.0 GPA. Scholarship auditions will take place on Monday, May 2 at 7pm.  Council Rock HS- North

*Council Rock Northampton Little League Scholarship

$500.00 Scholarship

Student must have played CR Northampton Little League for a minimum of 6 years. Student must be continuing education on the college level. Student needs counselor recommendation and teacher signature of approval. 3.0 GPA minimum.

*Council Rock Support Staff:John Kokinda MemorialScholarship

$500.00Scholarship

Parent must be a CRESPA member. Student in good standing going on to further education, not receiving any other scholarship/award.

*Council Rock Support Staff Kevin White Memorial Scholarship

$500.00Scholarship

Parent must be a CRESPA member. Student in good standing going on to further education, not receiving any other scholarship/award.

*CRUSA Drew Wirtz Memorial Scholarship

$1,000.00 Senior female must have played varsity soccer at CRHS South and CRUSA Intramural or Travel Team. One-time award for college or technical school tuition. Application in the Counseling Center.

*CRUSA Joseph Thomas Berthsci Memorial Scholarship

$1,000.00 Senior male must have played varsity soccer at CRHS South and CRUSA Intramural or Travel Team. One-time award for college or technical school tuition. Application in Counseling Center.

*CRUSA Lauren Kelsey Talbot Award Amount varies CR South senior who is an active member of CRUSA. One-time award for college or technical school tuition. Application in the Counseling Center.

*CRUSA Ryan Lesher Memorial Scholarship

$1,000.00 Graduating CR Senior, enrolling in a College or University. Applicant demonstrates athletic and academic excellence along with leadership roles in school and community activities. One-time award for college or technical school tuition. Application available in the Counseling Center.

*CREA Future Teacher Gift Scholarship

$500.00 Scholarship

Education major acceptance letter required. Priority to a student who is a member of the National Education Association (NEA), strong rank and good SAT scores.

*Cullen Keffer Memorial Lacrosse Scholarship

Amount varies Lacrosse Player selected by the coaches and Guidance Department.

*Diane Orenberg Fernandez Memorial Scholarship

Amount varies Good, all around student.

*Janet P. Tanner Art Goes to School ScholarshipApplications are available through Art Department.

Amount varies Student must be pursuing post-secondary education in the fine arts (including graphic design and photography) art history or art education. Applications available through Art Department, Art Department makes selection.

One-time grant, amount varies

Unsung hero who participated in Tennis, Soccer or in the Video Media Field. Free spirit who has pursued friendship and fellowship in the community and school by giving their time and love to those in need..

*Luna Chick Boutique Scholarship $1,000.00 Graduating Council Rock Female with a minimum of 3.0 GPA who exemplifies kindness through a minimum of 60 hours community Service work.

*Mike Clark Memorial Scholarship $1,000 Senior who has studied and excelled in photography or electronics classes.

*NAA/John J. Savarese Memorial Scholarship

$500.00Scholarship

Member of CR South Varsity Baseball team. Member of either NAA American Legion or NAA Babe Ruth. Recognized for good sportsmanship & excellent citizenship.

*Nat Grupp Scholarship Two $250 scholarships

A- A senior who has either persevered despite illness or disability, or will be majoring in Special Education in college. B- A 125 word description of why the student is qualifiedC- A senior may either self-nominate or be nominated by any district employee.

*Neighborhood Outreach Scholarship Two $500 scholarships

Two $500 awards, one boy and one girl, based on community service.

*Newtown Arts Company Scholarship Amounts and number vary

Graduating senior planning to enter an accredited school for technical theater, theater management, and/or the performing or fine arts.

*Northampton Indians Cheerleading Scholarship

Amount varies Candidate must have cheered for the Northampton Indians for at least four years.

*Northampton Indians Football Scholarship

Amount varies Candidate must have played football for the Northampton Indians for at least four years.

*Northampton Township Lions Memorial Scholarship

$500.00 scholarship

Senior who has been actively involved in Community Service. Must be a Northampton Township resident.

*Northampton Township Republican Committee Scholarship

$1,000.00 650 word essay: “As Congress debates Immigration Reform this year, what do you believe is the correct “Path to Citizenship” in the USA and why?

*Patricia Benz Memorial Scholarship $500.00 scholarship
