Whew! A thousand words for Assignment 1! I wonder what to say about myself. Let me think.

I consider myself as a passive writer. It is only when emotions spell that words flow voluntarilythat I write. Also, I felt like doing it when am inspired with a particular event whether it is sad orhappy.

Unthinkably I was called sarcastically smart by a Saudi Arab officemate. He said that it was theright description of my personality. I do not know what those two words were meant. I felt that he

enjoys the way I am. But how I understood with those flowers he gave was to appease me. Iknow that he cant stand the way I acted when my reflexes were triggered to get enlightened. Itwas just his way to accept the person sitting on the cubicle next to his during office days for thetotal of 32 hours a week. He also wanted me believed him that our officemates similarly saw whathe had seen on my person.

Anyways, I came to discover the meaning of the person that I am according to my officemates. The situation was some kind of a masterpiece. And here was how it happened.

Early this year our organization gathered for our yearly Safety Award recognition ceremony.Included on the plan was each division should deliver a presentation. Our division should give a

presentation an hour before lunch as shown on the program.

Time came for my officemate to deliver his presentation. He passes by our table and tapped myshoulder. When our eyes met he gave me a wink and smiled. He started his power pointpresentation with a greeting. The first moment he clicked the mouse a cartoon character emergedsaying Common, give me a chance to greet them my good morning too.

It seems there was a bug on his file, we thought. But laughter echoed out of our surprise. Wewere shocked too when our presenter talked to the character just like it was an ordinary humanbeing, I am sorry! Of course I will, but let me finish these few lines before you greet them. Thecaricature nodded to agree.

Allow me to introduce Tintin to all of you. Tintin will be with me all throughout this presentation. He wil l be my savior whenever I lost words to say. The character was introduced. Tintins eyeswink and said, Hmmm your Angel? I forgot to wear my wings. Ha ha ha good morning everyone Iam Tintin. I am his redeemer, then he pauses to continue, Could you all hear me? Give meyour ears. The room reverberated with the YES response and laughter from the attendees.

Tintin captured the stage. Everyone was awakened.

Tintin as a character was a circle and an oval figure joined together. The small circle was hishead. The two dots were his eyes. He wore an oversized eyeglass covering his little nose. A

thumb size oval figure was his body. The two lines connected on both sides were his arms thathave oversized fingers for pointing. His foot was the two straight lines at the bottom. He wasbald.

All throughout the presentation attendees were focused anticipating for Tintin next antics. Tintinopens his small mouth whenever his reflexes get agitated. For example when the presentertalked about statistics, Tintin would say, Hey, dont brag me with that figure, we all knew that. Then scratch his head. But by the way who said that to you? Instead to asked data reference.

After my officemate presentation he passes by our table again and smiled at me. I took theopportunity to tell him how good it was. On my ears he whispered, Yeah, because you are

good. I was blown by what he said. At lunch time I seek an opportunity to talk and I asked whyhe said that to me. He gave me a giggle for the answer. His laughter prompted our Gen.Supervisor who was sitting beside him to ask. He answered, Tintin. To my astonishment bothof them begun to laugh. Uneasy, I asked them curiously serious, Was there something funny?Do I look like a damned funny thing here? What was this all about the laughter? I was about to

leave when both of them said That character was you!

    Me? Who? Myself?

Yeah! You are so damned sarcastically smart man! he told me.

    What was that?

Later on I learned that during the planning stage of the presentation they wanted somethinginformative and fun. They wanted to make sure that attendees would not feel sleepy. At themeeting they remembered my antics. There were times I made them feel stupid with my verbalresponses but my point was uncontestable. They always lend ears on me talking. I delivered itwith style they said that made them sit to smile and browse their memories with whys. I dispensethose awkward set of words with ease like music to their ears. When they try to imitate me,people get hurt. I do not know how I delivered the spiel but the truth was, I too wonder why theyfancied those snaps of words even though it was biting.

Hey, profane language is not my style.

I am some kind of a blue-pencil for them or a highlighter that caused them to turn-around fromanger to smile and laughter.

This is me that I wrote.

Going back to writing in particular, it was my dream to become a famous writer but my fatherwanted me to be an engineer. He was successful to have me graduate with his dream becominga Civil Engineer. Somehow I learned to enjoy the profession. Mathematics was one of myfavorite subjects. I work as an Engineering Technician in one of the world known oil companiesin Saudi Arabia. During free time I wrote prose. On my Facebook account I have fans. One ladysaid to me that she collects my prose. But as long as she associate me with her prose collectionI appreciate the value, I told her.
