Responsive Reading: Matthew 26:26-30 (NKJV)

Leader: (26:26)

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and

said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

Congregation: (26:27)

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of

you.

Leader: (26:28)

“For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Congregation: (26:29)

“But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when

I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

ALL: (26:30)

AND WHEN THEY HAD SUNG A HYMN, THEY WENT OUT TO THE MOUNT OF

OLIVES.

The Church Covenant Leader

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the

profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, we

do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one

another, as one body in Christ.

Congregation

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement

of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship;

ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly in the support of the ministry, the

expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

Leader

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of

our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings; faithful in our

engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, back-biting and excessive anger; to abstain

from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom

of our Savior.

Congregation

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other

in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense,

but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

All

We more over engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other

church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

From: Pastor Tunstill

To: My entire Trinity Family, please commit to memory:

Psalm 133 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is

For brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head,

Running down on the beard,

The beard of Aaron,

Running down on the edge of his garments. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon,

Descending upon the mountains of Zion;

For there the LORD commanded the blessing—

Life forevermore.

O How I Love Jesus

There is a name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth;

It sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest name on earth.

Chorus

O how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus, because he first loved me!

It tells me of a Savior's love, Who died to set me free;

It tells me of his precious blood, The sinner's perfect plea.

Chorus

It tells of One whose loving heart Can feel my deepest woe; Who in each sorrow bears a part That

none can bear below.

Sunday, September 2, 2018

Scripture: Matthew 13:49-52.

Matt 13:49-52 49 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 51 "Have you understood all these things?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they replied. 52 He said to them, "Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old." (from New International Version) Introduction:

Message Outline: End Game Decisions! 1: Our God, Our Christ, tells us: ____________ _________ . ____________ . 2: Each person must daily “decide” whether they will live: __________ ; ____________ _ being fully aware that the wicked will be thrown into: __________ . 3: The hard reality is: we must make this decision to live right every day --- and Jesus Christ ask: _____________________________________________________________________. ON FRIENDS & FAMILY DAY

Everyone is invited to “Walk Around the Church Grounds” on Sunday, September 23, 2018,

immediately after 10:00 AM service. We will walk around the church grounds seven times.

Hebrews 11:30- God’s people had faith, and when they had walked around the city of Jericho

for seven days, its walls fell down. (CEV) This walk will symbolize our prayer of agreement

BEHIND THE GLASS

Marcus Garvey was a proponent of the Black Nationalism and Pan-

Africanism movements, inspiring the Nation of Islam and the Rastafarian

movement.

Born in Jamaica, Marcus Garvey (August 17, 1887 - June 10, 1940) was an

orator for the Black Nationalism and Pan-Africanism movements, to which

end he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African

Communities League. Garvey advanced a Pan-African philosophy which

inspired a global mass movement, known as Garveyism. Garveyism would

eventually inspire others, from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari

movement.

Marcus Garvey wrote a paper called the Negro World during the Harlem

Renaissance, which highlighted the accomplishments of African-

Americans and the ideas that African-Americans deserved respect. (Getty Images)

Marcus Garvey returned to Jamaica in 1912 and founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association

(U.N.I.A.) with the goal of uniting all of African diaspora to "establish a country and absolute government of

their own." After corresponding with Booker T. Washington, the American educator who founded Tuskegee

Institute, Garvey traveled to the United States in 1916 to raise funds for a similar venture in Jamaica. He settled

in New York City and formed a U.N.I.A. chapter in Harlem to promote a separatist philosophy of social,

political, and economic freedom for blacks. In 1918, Garvey began publishing the widely distributed newspaper

Negro World to convey his message.

By 1919, Marcus Garvey and U.N.I.A. had launched the Black Star Line, a shipping company that would

establish trade and commerce between Africans in America, the Caribbean, South and Central America, Canada

and Africa. At the same time, Garvey started the Negros Factories Association, a series of companies that would

manufacture marketable commodities in every big industrial center in the Western hemisphere and Africa.

In August 1920, U.N.I.A. claimed 4 million members and held its first International Convention at Madison

Square Garden in New York City. Before a crowd of 25,000 people from all over world, Marcus Garvey spoke

of having pride in African history and culture. Many found his words inspiring, but not all. Some established

black leaders found his separatist philosophy ill-conceived. W.E.B. Du Bois, a prominent black leader and

officer of the N.A.A.C.P. called Garvey, "the most dangerous enemy of the Negro race in America." Garvey felt

Du Bois was an agent of the white elite.

But W.E.B Du Bois wasn't the worst adversary of Garvey; history would soon reveal F.B.I. Director J. Edgar

Hoover's fixation on ruining Garvey for his radical ideas. Hoover felt threatened by the black leader, fearing he

was inciting blacks across the country to stand up in militant defiance.

Hoover referred to Garvey as a "notorious negro agitator" and for several years, desperately sought ways to find

damning personal information on him, even going so far as to hire the first black F.B.I. agent in 1919 in order to

infiltrate Garvey's ranks and spy on him.

"They placed spies in the U.N.I.A.," said historian Winston James. "They sabotaged the Black Star Line. The

engines... of the ships were actually damaged by foreign matter being thrown into the fuel."

Hoover would use the same methods decades later to obtain information on black leaders like MLK and

Malcolm X.

In 1922, Marcus Garvey and three other U.N.I.A. officials were charged with mail fraud involving the Black

Star Line. The trial records indicate several improprieties occurred in the prosecution of the case. It didn't help

that the shipping line's books contained many accounting irregularities. On June 23, 1923, Garvey was

convicted and sentenced to prison for five years. Claiming to be a victim of a politically motivated miscarriage

of justice, Garvey appealed his conviction, but was denied. In 1927 he was released from prison and deported to

Jamaica.

Greetings Trinity Members and Friends, On behalf of the Big Sunday committee, I would like to thank everyone who was in attendance for our second Big Sunday of the New Year. We are continuing in our theme for the year that will remain the same, which is bridging the gap in generations with the goal of Big Sunday allowing all generations and Sunday school classes to come together in an environment of worship, fellowship, and learning about God’s word. The Sunday school classes have been divided into four different teams…OLD classes have passed away and behold all teams have become NEW. These teams are uniquely designated for Big Sunday, and your regular Sunday school classes will resume throughout the year. Also, it’s not too late to join a team.

The teams and the points earned so far this year are listed below:

1. Team Grace and Mercy-600 2. Team Joy Seekers-200 3. Team Joy Comes in the Morning-600 4. Team Chosen Champions-400

On this latest edition of Big Sunday, the teams again followed up on the Big Sunday clue that was given during the Sunday school hour which was to memorize and recite, Psalm 133. Representatives of the various teams stepped up to the challenge and successfully recited Psalm 133 gaining points for their team. Next, the teams gathered together, as our topic focused on that same scripture and walking in unity with our fellow church members. Paul reminds us our endeavor is to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, called in one hope of your calling. (Ephesians 4:3-4). The focus centered on living a life where we are in unity with the Fruit of the Spirit amidst the negative factors or obstacles that will definitely test our faith. The teams were presented with envelopes that had a negative trait, lying, gossip, or pride to name a few. Enclosed in the envelope were weapons, or scriptures, that listed how to combat these negative attributes. The challenge was that there were multiple scriptures in the envelope forcing the teams to work together to search through the bible, to find the ONE scripture that correctly exemplified how the Lord indicates we should respond to this behavior. Points were given to the teams who were able to correctly identify the scripture. The take away from the lesson can be summed up in Romans 13:13-14 in which we are charged to walk properly and put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Satan is very clever as he tempts us at our lowest points in life, and even in our highest spiritual journeys, but we are reminded to be of good cheer in tribulation because Jesus has overcome the world. The scripture is our greatest weapon to use in these times. We encourage each of you to look into God’s Word and hide it in your heart so when these demons and evil things tempt you...you will be able to take a deep breath, to pause...and ask yourself in that moment what would Jesus do and then proceed to walk in that truth. We look forward to your future participation for the next Big Sunday, September 30th, at 9am in the sanctuary as we unite together in a fun environment of fellowship and learning about the Word of God and our Christ.

With Joy, Janae Jett Do you want to be a part of the planning for future Big Sunday events? Join the committee by emailing Janae Jett at [email protected]

Prayer for Those Grieving

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask you to come into my life this day, and help me to deal with the pain of

loss that I am now experiencing. Holy Spirit, as the Comforter, I ask you to counsel me on how You can take my

grief and make me whole. Jesus, I ask You to help me walk through the valley of the shadow of death. You, O

Lord are my Savior and King; I trust You all of my days. It brings me comfort to know that (name of the

deceased) is at peace and even more, that while I am still here on earth, it will not be the last time that I will see

(name, him or her). Father, sometimes this hole in my heart, the hurting in my soul, the emptiness I sense, is

unbearable because I miss (name). I miss (name, him or her) smiles – I miss their touch – the sound of their

voice – the feel of their arms around me – holding hands together. I miss their counsel, the security that I

experienced and felt when we were together, and their words of confidence when I was afraid or unsure.

Please, Lord, wrap me in Your arms and hide me under the shadow of your wings and guide me through this

painful journey in order that this will be to Your glory, and my good. This is my cross as a Christian, to bear for

such a time as this. I will keep my eyes on You. I surrender to You, my pain, my tears, my heart ache, my

sorrow, my feelings of separation and aloneness, in order that You do Your will in my life.

Father, I will not be depressed, overwhelmed, lose my mind, nor faith because to do so would diminish Your

power as God and Lord over everything, according to Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness

thereof, the world and they that dwell there-in.” You alone are my refuge and my strength, and in You do I

place my trust. Father, please return to me the joy of my salvation in order that I may serve You all the days of

my life.

Today may not be a good day, but by faith I believe that tomorrow will be. Thank you for hearing my prayer,

Father. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen
