THIS WEEK AT CHRIST CHURCH Sunday July 21, 2013—The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

Vacancies at Carillon Preschool

Our Preschool still has vacancies in the 3’s and 5’s classes for this Fall. Our preschool offers children a faith-based and developmentally appropriate environment for social, physical, cognitive and spiritual growth in which each child has opportunities to learn, grow and succeed. For more information or to schedule a visit, contact the Parish Office.

Welcome Donald Schell

During Fr. Mitch’s vacation, we’re delighted that Fr. Donald Schell will be preaching and presiding at our services on Sundays July 21, July 28, and August 4. Donald founded and developed the urban congregation of St. Gregory’s in

San Francisco from an organizing dozen members to a parish with national recognition for its innovative approaches to liturgy and mission. In 2007, he stepped down from work at St. Gregory’s to be the President of All Saints Company, a non-profit foundation at which he consults, publishes, and leads workshops on liturgy, music, and congregational development.

Parish Office Updates

Judy Horton is recovering from back surgery, so at present the office is not regularly staffed.

Please call ahead before stopping by the office or church, so that staff can plan to be there to meet you or otherwise arrange access.

Emails sent to <[email protected]> will not be read or receive a reply. Please email Matthew Burt at <[email protected]> for administrative matters.

If you call the office and nobody answers, please leave a message in the relevant mailbox (“0” for general enquiries) and you will receive a prompt reply—voicemails are pushed to staff cell phones.

In case of a pastoral emergency, call the church and—if nobody answers—press “1”. The voicemail message on that extension will include an emergency cell phone number for somebody who will be able to respond.

Mission Ministry Updates

Our Home & Hope team received this wonderful note from the H&H President: “We are beside ourselves with gratitude. Thank you, thank you! The way your members support meeting the housing needs of our vulnerable families is nothing less than inspiring. Will you thank the congregation for us?" For more information about this ministry with homeless families, please contact Sue Riggs at <[email protected]>. The next evening we will be taking care of them is August 14.

Save The Date for Evening in Tuscany on Sunday September 29 at 4:30pm. Our wonderful annual Mission Ministry fundraiser benefits Home & Hope, InnVision/Shelter Network, My New Red Shoes, and Dorcas House. It promises great fun for all including a terrific children’s program. A great way to support our fundraiser is to provide silent or live auction items. We are seeking sports tickets, restaurant gift certificates, fine wines, visits to a vacation home, airline miles, unique experiences, dinner parties, treasures from your home, jewelry, gift baskets, and more … your creative ideas are welcomed. Contact and Questions – Timi Most <[email protected]> or (650) 465-4738.

Join the 50 Campaign! 50 Families to Pledge $500 This Summer

Thank you and God bless you for the many ways you support Christ Church with your time and talents. We have achieved 90% of our 2013 pledge income goal, but need to close the gap in order to achieve a balanced budget this year. Your generosity helps to enable all the amazing ways our Church carries out God’s work in the world, including our small but talented staff who provide pastoral care, inspiring liturgy and music, adult and children’s education, and a wonderful place of prayer and worship.

You should have received an email (or letter) inviting you to donate $500, or whatever you can afford, to help close our budget gap and enable our ministries to continue to thrive. Please prayerfully consider what you might be able to offer, and THANK YOU!

As of July 19, we have received 33 gifts toward our goal of 50, totaling $17,110.

Thank you for your generosity!
