CHORAL INTROIT Morning Has Broken
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN #264 At the Name of Jesus *UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Kati Collins Minister: I said I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord. People: And Thou forgave my sins.
Minister and People: We pray for a day when character will characterize most of the
world’s inhabitants with the understanding that integrity and courage create peace in
a world beset by evil actions and mindless measures. Teach the world that confidence
comes from character and that love comes from learning the ways of our Lord. In an
age of terror send your message of hope and peace and remind us of the requirements
of your Kingdom: “to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your Lord.
We pray this in Your name. Amen.

Joys and Concerns

Tragedy, when associated with war and terror, has struck our nation countless times over
its 240+ year history, including The Civil War, the World Wars, The Great Depression,
the Oklahoma City bombing, Sandy Hook in Newtown, the Charleston church killings,
and now the age of terror. Yet our nation with its roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition
bounces back with confidence and resiliency every time, but not without great pain and
sorrow.
Today is part-two of a three-part series entitled: “The Goodness That Exists,” which
talks about the importance of our faith today and how it can supply ourselves and others
with hope for the future, and how it has done so in the past. The sermon series, delivered
by Rev. R.C. McConnell, will finish on June 25th. The sermon on June 18 will feature a
special Father’s Day theme.
