The modular system uses a pinion assembly to connect into units, to strands, and fi nally sheets.

Upon completion of the sheets, they are spun to create a cylindrical structure from the interior to the exterior.

This new high speed station moves to interrupt and invite in the community with the intertwining and collaboration of public and private space.

Simple interruptions in movement patterns allow new patterns and spaces to be created.

The hotel lobby overhang creates a landmark along Passeig de Gracia giving a point of reference to travelers, city guests, and hotel guests alike.

The Center for Alternative Psychological Studies (C.A.P.S.) provides a new state of the art research /education / care facility campus in the heart of Chicago. Its focus is to help those returning from war, those with mental illness, and those in the city environment itself.

Center for AlternativePsychological Studies

A particular symptom to mental illness is the deconstruction of oneself, physically and mentally. This act is instead used as a building process. Fractal Layout 2D + 2D = 3D Structure

It’s location and proximity to downtown Chicago and residential sections allow easy access to many demographics.

Using the existing building as an enclosure, year round ideal conditions are utilized.

Once all is completed the roof is cut to reveal

the new campus.

while allowing light transfer and support of

the new window system.

All layouts, from the site, campus buildings, and plan, are created from a fractal equation. The creation of the plan begins from the center meditation point and works its way throughout the campus creating all spaces and culminates in the patient rooms.
