THE BUILD

We are very close to completion of our building program. By the end of next week the basketball court should be

I am not sure, heavenly Father, that I can ever forget

this pain. I know that time will heal all wounds, and

that one day I will look back on this as a lesson

learned and wisdom gained. But right now, I

struggle to keep from letting anger and depression

over come me. Help me find that middle road, where

I can forgive, even if I am not yet able to forget. I

long to be free of the dark fog that envelops me ,

and pray that you will embolden me to step forward

and move beyond what was done to me to the hope

of what will be.

Another two-year-old child of my acquaintance used the advertisement for

the Commonwealth Bank on the backs of buses so frequently that,

eventually, he asked his parents what it said. After that, he would read it

aloud when ever it appeared on a bus. At first his mother thought he was

merely recognising the familiar logo of the bank. Then one day, when her

husband was reading the newspaper in

which there was a headline about a meeting

of the Commonwealth Heads of

Government, the child pointed to the word

commonwealth and said: ’That says

commonwealth.’ Brilliance off the back of a

bus! Yet most people would seriously doubt

that a two-year-old could read a perplexing

word like commonwealth. He certainly didn’t

sound it out. Reading Magic - Mem Fox

Welcome back to all of our families; all of the ELC staff are so happy to see you all again. We have been so busy these first three weeks back making number rockets, art work using dots and working on our fine and gross motor skills. It has been an exciting time in the ELC. We have a new project in our classroom for this term which will help us learn all about different countries around the world. The first country we are ‘visiting’ is Australia. We will learn all about Aus-tralian flags, dances, sports and food which are traditional in Australia. We will send out our amazing new display on StoryPark soon for all our families to see!

As a reminder, if you have not already, please accept your invite to StoryPark; this is our new online learning journal which helps families to follow the journey of the children. We post news, announcements, pictures and other ex-citing things for families and children to engage with at home. You can use StoryPark to upload family moments too… We would love to see what the children get up to at home!

Although the weather has taken a turn recently, we do still need the children to bring in their hats every day. This is a school wide policy and keeps the children safe whilst playing in the sun. Unfortunately, if children do not come to the centre with a hat they will have to play in the shade or inside. We have very limited spare hats which have to be washed every day and so it is not possible for us to provide a spare for all the children.

We appreciate your ongoing support at this time.

A friendly reminder to all families that a Family Suggestion Box has been placed in the front foyer of the OSHC and by the entrance of the ELC

for any suggestions and feedback regarding the Centre. We are always looking at how we can improve and we value your input.

Outside School Hours Care News

15th May 2020

OSHC: Keeping the children in our care safe and healthy.

Over the Vacation Care period and now into term the OSHC staff having been strongly supporting healthy

and hygienic practice in order to keep all children attending safe.

Each morning and afternoon, upon arrival the children wash their hands. This is obviously best practice at any

time, but particularly, during COVID-19.

After hand washing, the children have their temperature taken.

A normal temperature range for children is 36.5°C-38°C. A fever is when your child's body temperature is high-

er than 38°C. Fever is not an illness but is one sign of an illness.

Theoretically, we believe that a child arriving without a temperature or any other visible signs of illness or infec-

tion such as cough or runny nose, tells us that they are well enough to be

with us.

The families utilising our service appear to enjoy the time taken by staff to

check on their well being and thus, ensuring the health and safety of all

children currently attending our school, their families and the community

as a whole.

A friendly reminder to all families that a Family Suggestion Box has been placed in the front foyer of the OSHC and by the entrance of the ELC for

any suggestions and feedback regarding the Centre. We are always looking at how we can improve and we value your input.
