A wide, carved plank seat cossets the sitter in this chair. The gently carved crest echoes the illusory lines of the seat and apron, and reverse-tapered legs are cut with three facets to accentuate the play of light. An open design of the Edo Sideboard features three dovetailed drawers. From the front, the profile could not be more basic, yet closer in-spection reveals remarkable attention to detail. The richness of discreet end grain inlays and walnut drawer pulls add a subtle demarcation and fuse the top, sides and front visually. Four legs, attached at a compound angle, are connected to a grain-matched cherry top.

The back crest of the Harpswell Chair is carved
from a single piece of cherry to reveal the growth
rings that add nature’s fingerprint to the piece.
Well-padded seats and optional backrests can be
upholstered in mohair, leather, and a wide variety
of fabric options.
The grain-matched legs of the Georgetown tables
are individually shaped to create facets that
capture light and shadow. Each leg is reinforced
with triangular wooden splines that are wedged
into the mitered joints. The result is a
distinguished table of uncommon strength and
stability. The Double Pedestal table expands to
seat 10 comfortably.

Harpswell is Tom and Mary’s hometown in midcoast Maine. Since the Harpswell Chair was developed in Tom’s workshop on the island we thought it fitting to name it “Harpswell.” The design heritage is strictly European and reflects an architecture found in the 1950s. What sets our chair apart is its spare lines and exuberant back crest, which is carved from a solid piece of cherry and shows the wonderful symmetry of growth rings that only wood can give.

Our signature piece, the Continuous Arm Chair, remains a unique, trademarked Moser design. To form the arms eleven knife-cut slices of the same board just one-tenth of an inch thick, called flitch, are laminated together. Then each continuous arm is painstakingly rasped, filed and sanded to a perfect smoothness.

Twelve solid cherry spindles cut from one board are molded to form a splayed back terminating in a unique upper crest, allowing the natural contrasting hues of the wood to show through, much like piano keys. The wide seat is carved to cradle the sitter. Unique half-lap joints attach the back spindles to the seat and provide both visual interest and enduring strength.

Our Customer in Residence program is a week-long intensive internship for our customers
who want to experience the process and satisfaction of building Moser furniture for
themselves. Each participant works side-by-side with a master cabinetmaker in our shop,
who will assist in the selection of raw materials and the crafting of a hallmark Moser piece.
Learn about the intricacies of joinery, the shaping and molding of solid cherry and even
how to bring out the natural luster of wood with the right amount of wax and elbow
grease. Share your workshop experiences on a daily basis and enjoy two special group

The Boat Top Table is constructed using four
aprons to support the legs and top. The two
aprons that give the table the “boat” look
are created using bent laminations, with the
outermost layer matching the surrounding
wood in both color and grain. The Eastward
Side Chair is one of the most comfortable

The Vita Credenza features a solid-cherry, full panel back with two storage areas below and an open shelf on top. The door panels flip up from the bottom and slide effortlessly back into the top of the cabinet for unobstructed access into the compartment.
Mitered dovetailed joints add strength and longevity to the elongated frame of the Vita Etagere. Open on both sides, each case contains up to four glass shelves. The bottom offers enclosed storage with flip-up doors.

Moser furniture is principally built from premium-grade American black cherry. Sustainably
harvested by family-owned mills in the Allegheny forest of Pennsylvania, our cherry is distinguished
by its rich grain figures and a lustrous patina that deepens in hue over time.
While we avoid exotic wood species due to environmental concerns, we also work with responsibly
harvested ash, maple and walnut. When polished and oiled, walnut assumes a deep chocolate
brown color, then lightens over the years to a honey brown. Maple, on the other hand, begins the
color of pale ivory and over time darkens to an amber hue. Building furniture with these native
hardwoods from sustainably managed resources is a fitting embodiment of the Shaker belief in
living a principled life, encompassing sustainability, land stewardship, innovation and quality in work.

The geometry of each Windward sofa back requires 26 separate pieces and 42 precisely fitted mortise-and-tenon joints. The weight-bearing bottom rails, which span the full length of the piece, are strengthened by vertical stiles that serve as I-beams while maintaining visual continuity. The end result are forms that achieve grace through proportion and simplicity rather than embellishment.

Asian tradition holds that meaning is revealed in the tension created by opposites. We have realized our vision of this idea in the American Bungalow Bed by juxtaposing gently curved half-moon caps against a floating headboard. In the beginning, we only made custom one-of-a-kind furniture. Today many of those custom
pieces are now standard designs in our catalog. We continue to offer custom pieces upon
request. We can modify the length, width, and height of our pieces—or customize drawers
and shelving to meet your precise requirements. Case pieces can be customized to create
media storage that won’t overwhelm the rest of your room. Beds can be made for platform
mattresses or standard mattress and box spring foundations. If you prefer another species of
wood, we can substitute almost any native hardwood of your choice. With everything we do,
custom or standard, we intend to provide you with a treasured heirloom.
