Graduation Times: HHS - May 18 - 2 pm Bruceton - May 16-7:30 pm Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wher- ever you go. - Joshua 1:9 Those who invested in our graduate’s lives bestow upon them many dividends. Significant people have fashioned our graduates into more valuable people. Let's think about those people that have invested in their lives, and the great dividends they’ve received as a result. Consider those persons who sought to transform them into something more valuable. Schoolteachers "Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God” (2 Tim 2:15). Teachers who taught them in school gave their best efforts at getting them to study and to do their best. They obviously responded to some degree, or they wouldn’t be here today, ready to graduate. Sunday School Teachers – Paul told young Timothy that once you study to show yourself approved and do your best you learn to "correctly teach the Word of truth." The Sunday school teachers put our graduates in touch week after week with the One who is the Truth, Jesus Christ. People who know the Truth and know how to handle it are valuable. But your best will never be good enough by itself. We humans need Someone, our Lord, to take our best and make it better. Parents - Paul expressed confidence in young Timothy’s abilities and faith because of his family: “clearly recalling your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois, then in your mother Eunice, and that I am convinced is in you also” (I Tim 1:5). Who our graduates are today, is to a great extent, who their parents fashioned them to be. Graduates, remember for a moment some of the investments parents have made in your life. Your dividends are the result of their investments. Our graduates don’t graduate alone this week. The Lord God, through His providential care, along with their church family, school family, and per- sonal family circles have invested themselves in each of them. And through the years, with the Lord's help, they have invested in each graduate and the dividend is that Christ is important in your life and He will be with them wherever they go. As they leave this place and begin a new part of their journey, those who have invested in them, REMEMBER THAT THEY WALK with you in the name of our Lord. May 18, 2014 Volume 57 Number 20
