In December 2013, Jungfraubahn ordered four Bhe 4/8 three-part rack-and-pinion articulated multiple units from Stadler to in-
crease capacity and replace older multiple units. They bring passengers from the Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the world-famous
northern face of the Eiger via the rack railway with a gradient of up to 250‰ to the highest railway station in Europe. The new trains
have 50 per cent more seating capacity. With an increased speed of up to 33 km/h, the multiple units also allow a massive increase
in productivity. The carriages have three low-floor areas to allow unrestricted access. The comfortable interior, the bogies with
pneumatic suspension, the excellent insulation and the large windows make the journey a comfortable and enjoyable experience
for the passengers. The high-quality carpeted interior adds to the feeling. The textile wall coverings and leather headrests under-
line the premium character of the new trains.
