Act 1Scene 1Setting : Inside Madam Roses houseA woman is seen sitting on a chair while smiling in her house.Narrator : This is Madam Rose. She has always wanted to have a child. She likes to spend her evenings by thinking on how happy she would be if she was to have a child.Madam Rose : How I wish to have a child. I will play with her, dress her up and love her so much. (smiles gently)Narrator : Suddenly, Madam Rose hears a loud knock on her door. Madam Rose : Oh my, I wonder who decided to visit me today. (gets up from her rocking chair and walks slowly towards the door)Narrator : Madam Rose opens the door.Madam Rose : Who is it? (while opening the door). A young lady is standing in front of the door. She looks sick and sad.Lady Sakura : Hello. I am sorry to disturb you but if you let me into your house, I will grant you a wish. (speaks softly)Madam Rose : Oh dear, you look very sick. (holds Lady Sakuras hand) Please come in. Narrator : Madam Rose invites lady Sakura into her house because she feels pity looking at Lady Sakura.Madam Rose : (holds Lady Sakuras hand and brings her to sit on the chair) What is your name, dear? What happened to you?Lady Sakura : My name is Sakura. I have not been feeling well for three days. So I decided to buy medicine for myself. I was on my way back from the pharmacy to myhome but I could not continue walking .Narrator : Madam Rose feels so sorry for lady Sakura. So she gives food and prepares a bed for Lady Sakura. Lady Sakura eats her food and decides to sleep.Scene 2(The next day, Lady Sakura is seen sleeping on the bed whereas Madam Rose is seen preparing breakfast in the kitchen)Narrator : The next morningMadam Rose : I shall go and wake Sakura up so that she can have her breakfast (While stirring the soup in the pot.)Narrator : Madam Rose wakes Lady Sakura up and asks her to eat her breakfast. Madam Rose : Do you feel better now? (While drinking her soup)Lady Sakura : Yes, I do. Thank you so much. (Smiles widely)Narrator : Lady Sakura hugs Madam and thanks her.Madam Rose : My dear, can I ask you something?Lady Sakura : Yes, sure.Madam Rose : Where are you from? Lady Sakura : Oh, I am from the town next to yours.Madam Rose : (smiles) I see. Why are you alone? Where are your parents?Lady Sakura : My parents are not with me. They passed away when I was very young. (sad face)Madam Rose : Oh dear. Come here (hugs Lady Sakura). Dont be sad. You are not alone. Lady Sakura : (smiles) Thank you so much.Narrator : Madam Rose and Lady Sakura continue talking, talking and talking. After a while.Lady Sakura : Oh my god. I think I should go back now. It is getting late.Madam Rose : Alright dear. Yes, it is getting late.Narrator : Lady Sakura decides to leave.Lady Sakura : (Walks towards the door and stops) I almost forgot, what about your wish? What do you want?Narrator : (claps) Lets see what Lady Sakura thinks (taps Lady Sakura)Lady Sakura : I think Madam Rose will ask wishes such as wanting to be rich, powerful, pretty or the smartest just like other people.Narrator : (claps)Madam Rose : I want a child. Lady Sakura : (surprised look) A child? Madam Rose : Yes, a child. (Smiles)Lady Sakura : Alright then. I shall grant your wish (Takes Madam Roses hand).Narrator : Lady Sakura places a tiny seed in Madam Roses hand and asks her to plant the seed, to water it, to watch over it and to give her love to it .Lady Sakura : If you do all the things that I have asked you to, you will have a child.Narrator : Lady Sakura leaves Madam Roses house and walks away. Madam Rose does everything that Lady Sakura wanted her to do with the seed. She is very excited to see her child.Madam Rose : I cannot wait to see my child. (Smiles brightly)

Act 2Scene 1Setting : Madam Roses gardenThe next day, Madam Rose is seen looking at a pink flower with a smile in her garden.Madam Rose : What a beautiful flower. (smiles)Narrator : Madam Rose looks at the pink flower and touches it. Suddenly, the flower blooms and she sees a tiny, little and beautiful girl inside the flower. Madam Rose : Oh God, such a beautiful and tiny girl. Look at you, you are as small as my thumb. I shall call you Thumbelina. (Smiles happily) Narrator : Madam Rose calls her Thumbelina and makes her dresses out of golden threads. She also makes Thumbelinas bed out of a walnut shell. Thumbelina : You have named me Thumbelina but what do I call you? (Looking confused)Madam Rose : You can call me Madam Rose. Thumbelina : But, cant I call you mother? (Smiles)Madam Rose : Oh dear, of course you can. (Tears up and smiles)Thumbelina : Why are you crying mother? (confused face)Madam Rose: I am crying because I am very happy to have you as my child. We can spend happy times together. (Tears up and smiles)Narrator: Madam Rose hugs Thumbelina and both of them enter the house. (Thumbelina and Madam Rose hug each other)(Madam Rose and Thumbelina sing Barneys song together. They hold their hand and dance in circle) I love you,You love me,We are happy family,With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you,Wont you say you love me too?Act 3Scene 1Props: Lily pad and walnut shellThumbelina is seen sleeping in her walnut-shell bed. Suddenly it starts to rain heavily. Thumbelinas walnut-shell bed gets washed away because of the heavy rain. Thumbelina wakes up and notices that she is being washed away. Thumbelina : Help me! Help me! (shouts)Narrator : Nobody can hear Thumbelinas cry for help as the sound of the rain was too loud. Thumbelina is being washed away and finally she falls into a river. Her walnut-shell bed gets stuck in one of the lily pads. To save herself, she jumps on the lily pad. Scene 2Thumbelina is seen crying alone on a lily pad. Thumbelina : I miss my mother. (cries)Narrator : Thumbelina is crying so loudly that Mrs. Mousey who is passing by hears her.Mrs. Mousey : (Looks around) Where is the sound coming from?Thumbelina : Here, over here! (Waves her hands)Mrs. Mousey : (Walks toward the towards the lily pad and looks at Thumbelina)Thumbelina : Please help me. Mrs. Mousey : Oh darling, what happened to you?Narrator : Thumbelina tells everything that has happened to her.Mrs. Mousey : Do not worry. I will help you. (jumps into the river and swims towards the lily pad)Thumbelina : (Smiles and reaches out to hold Mrs. Mouseys hand)Narrator : Mrs. Mousey helps Thumbelina to escape by chewing the roots off the lily pad. Mrs. Mousey : Look! You are floating away.(Laughs happily)Thumbelina : (Tries to stand up and jump but she stopped)Mrs. Mousey : No, that is too dangerous. Do not worry. I will push you to the river bank.Thumbelina : ( Sits down and looks at Mrs. Mousey)Narrator : Mrs. Mousey manages to push the lily pad to the river bank and she brings Thumbelina to her home.

Act 4Scene 1Setting : Inside Mrs.Mousey houseThumbelina and Mrs. Mousey are seen sitting in Mrs. Mouseys living roomMrs. Mousey : (holds Thumbelinas shoulders) Thumbelina, you still look very weak, dear. You can stay here until you feel better. You can go home after that. Thumbelina : Oh my, thank you so much. You are very kind. ( Smiles weakly)Narrator : Mrs. Mousey takes good care of Thumbelina. However, as days pass by, Mrs. Mousey doesnt want to allow Thumbelina to go back. Thumbelina : Mrs. Mousey, I feel better now. Can I go back now? ( Smiles widely)Mrs. mousey : No dear, its still raining outside. It would be dangerous for you to go back.Thumbelina: (Makes sad face)Narrator: (Claps) Lets see what Mrs.Mousey thinks (taps Mrs.Mousey).Mrs. Mousey: I shall not let Thumbelina to go back. It will be wonderful if she stays with me here forever and I wont be alone anymore. (Smirks)Narrator: (Claps) Thumbelina tries, tries, tries and tries to go back home. But Mrs. Mousey always has a reason to keep her in the house.Thumbelina: Mrs. Mousey, its not raining anymore. Can I go back home now? Please! (Clasps her hands with pitiful face).Mrs. Mousey: How many times do I have to tell you that you cant go back? ( Shouts angrily). Come here! (Drags Thumbelina to a room)Narrator: Mrs. Mousey doesnt want Thumbelina to think about going back home. So she locks Thumbelina in the room.Thumbelina : (Cries) Please let me go! I want to go back to my mother!

Scene 2 Thumbelina is seen crying in an empty room.Thumbelina : I really want to go back home. I miss my mother and my home.(Cries)Narrator : Thumbelina suddenly hears a sound. (chirping sound) She looks around tosee where the sound is coming from. She sees Miss Birdy laying down on thefloor in that empty room.Thumbelina : (Runs towards Miss Birdy and holds Miss Birdys head) Poor thing. What is wrong with you?Miss Birdy : (Talks slowly) I hurt myself when I was flying high in the sky. Now, I cannot move my wings.Thumbelina : Do not worry. I will treat you. (Smiles)Narrator : Thumbelina treats Miss Birdy until her wings are alright. Miss Birdy : Thank you so much, Thumbelina. I can fly now and I can return to my Country (moves her wings).Thumbelina : You are welcome. (Smiles)Miss Birdy : Is there anything that I can do for you?Thumbelina : (Thinks for a while and nods) Yes Miss Birdy.Narrator : Thumbelina asks Miss Birdy to help her escape from Mrs.Mouseys house. Miss Birdy agrees to help Thumbelina.Miss Birdy : You can hop on my neck and hold my feather tightly.Thumbelina : Alright. I will. Where are we going?Miss Birdy : We are going to my country. (Smiles) Narrator : Thumbelina hops on Miss Birdys necks and both of them fly to Miss Birdys country. Meanwhile, Mrs Mousey notices that Thumbelina is no longer there.

(Music is played. Mrs.Mousey sings the song Let It Go.)Let it go,Let it go,Cant hold it back anymore,Let it go,Let it go.

Act 5Scene 1Setting : Miss Birdys countryThumbelina is seen standing among beautiful flowers.Miss Birdy : Welcome to my warm country. (Smiles happily with her wings open)Thumbelina : Thank you so much. This is such a beautiful place. (Smiles gently)Miss Birdy : Can I ask you something? (hesitates)Thumbelina : Yes, my dear (nods her head).Miss Birdy : Actually, what happened to you? Why were you in the room? (looks confused)Thumbelina : It was raining and I got washed away in my walnut shell. Mrs.Mousey saved me and brought me to her house. She said I can go back to my house when Iam well but she did not allow me to do so.Miss Birdy : Oh my goodness! That is horrible. How could she do that? Thank god I brought you out from there (says happily).Thumbelina : Yes, Miss Birdy. Thank you so much! (nods her head).Miss Birdy : Let past be in past. Lets forget Mrs. Mousey. Do you want to do something fun? (asks happily and jumps)Thumbelina : YESSS! Sure. What can we do?Miss Birdy : Would you like to meet my countrys prince?Thumbelina : Oh my! Yes, I would love to.Narrator : Miss Birdy brings Thumbelina to the palace. On her way to the palace, Thumbelina sees many people who look like her, tiny and little.Scene 2Thumbelina and Miss Birdy are in the palace.Miss Birdy : Oh look, here comes the prince. (Bows her head)Thumbelina : (Looks at the prince and smiles)Miss Birdy : Thumbelina, this is Prince Timothy.Thumbelina : (Shakes hand with Prince Timothy) Nice to meet you, Prince Timothy.Prince Timothy : Nice to meet you too. What is your name?Thumbelina : (Smiles shyly) My name is Thumbelina, your highness.Prince Timothy : What a beautiful name.(Smiles) Where are you from?Narrator : Thumbelina tells everything that has happened to her so far. Prince Timothy falls in love with Thumbelina. Thumbelina agrees to marry him but with one condition, Thumbelina wants to meet her mother. Prince Timothy agrees to her condition and brings her back to meet her mother.

Act 6Scene 1Setting : Madam Roses gardenMadam Rose is seen sitting and crying in front of her houseMadam Rose : I miss my daughter, Thumbelina. Where did she go? (Cries)Narrator : Madam Rose is so sad. Suddenly, she hears Thumbelinas voice.Thumbelina : Mother! Mother! (shouts happily)Madam Rose : (Looks around) Oh Thumbelina, where are you?Thumbelina : Mother, look down here! (waves her hand)Madam Rose : (looks down and sees Thumbelina and Prince Timothy)Narrator : Madam Rose is very happy to see Thumbelina. She carries Thumbelina carefully and asks where did she go. Madam Rose : I was so worried, Thumbelina. What happened and who is this tiny handsome young man here? Narrator : Thumbelina tells Madam Rose about everything that happened and she also tells about Prince Timothy too. Madam Rose agrees to their marriage. Thumbelina and Prince Timothy finally get married and they are very happy.

(Music is played.
