Experience the Magic of Ooch over an intimate evening of cocktails, dinner in Gatts’ Lodge and a campfire to remember. The Bonfire Bash will welcome approximately 200 socially-conscious people who want to help give kids affected by childhood cancer what they need – the chance to just be kids!

The funds raised at the Ooch Bonfire Bash support Camp Ooch and kids affected by childhood cancer with unique opportunities for growth through challenging, fun, enriching and magical experiences.

As one Camper shared, “Camp is more than a place you go to in the summer. Camp is a place where you meet people who have gone through what you’ve gone through. You’re no longer different, you’re just the same. You can reach your goals that seem impossible elsewhere.”

Each $2,000 ticket will give one kid affected by childhood cancer one week at the newly expanded Ooch Muskoka.

OOCH BONFIRE BASH OVERVIEW

ABOUT CAMP OOCHA childhood cancer diagnosis changes what a child has, not who a child is. But it turns a family upside down.

There is the possibility for great joy in the darkness that is childhood cancer, and the potential to heal, grow and connect. Camp Oochigeas (Ooch) is a privately funded, volunteer based organization that provides kids affected by childhood cancer unique opportunities for growth through challenging, fun, enriching and magical experiences.

We bring kids to Ooch, and we bring Ooch to kids and their families through camp-inspired programs year round at our overnight camp in Muskoka and communities and paediatric oncology centres across Ontario.

At no cost to their families, Ooch brings confidence, resiliency, independence and fun to over 1,600 Campers and their families annually.

Ooch is ready to do more in so many other ways. Our aspiration is to serve every child and family in Ontario affected by childhood cancer. But currently, 2,400 kids with cancer across the province don’t have access to an oncology camp. With your support we can bring the overnight camp experience to more kids, including those from distant cities and regions, or from families new to the concept of camp.

Ooch Muskoka is perfect for letting kids be kids. They can paddle on the pristine lake, take polar bear dips (a Camp tradition), fly high (and safely) on the ropes, sing and roast marshmallows around a campfire, or spend quiet time with friends. Over the summer, kids with cancer (ages 6-14) attend two-week sessions. Kids who’ve lost a brother or sister to cancer come together for Ooch’s one-week bereavement program, Teomul. Teens (15-18) spend a week at 7Scape. In fall and winter, Weekends at Camp keep Campers connected and give new Campers a taste of overnight camp.

As the only overnight Camp in Canada that’s equipped to deliver on-site IV chemotherapy and blood transfusions, giving even kids in the most intense phase of their cancer treatment the chance to just be kids.
