Meteorological Services Department
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) is a department in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate in the Government of Zimbabwe responsible for providing weather, climate and seismic data to a diversity of stakeholders including the farming community, aviation industry, academic fraternity and the mining sector among others.

contThe MSD makes a significant contribution to
economic benefit to the Aviation industry but still needs to do more in seismology.
The MSD requires seismic testing equipment to enable it to carry out seismic assessments, a Meteo Factory to enable it to produce quality products and services and Super computer for modeling.
MSD is wholly funded by the Government of Zimbabwe and has not received any support from donors or MDBs to purchase capital.
Expectations from workshop
At the end of the training workshop I hope I will have gained knowledge in how to value weather and climate, Economic assessment of Met Services and be able to public and incorporate the concepts and methodologies related to Socio-Economic Benefits assessments.with this knowledge I will be able to carry out Socio-Economic Benefit studies in my country.
