Membership Dues
Thank you to all who have paid their dues and a special thank you to those who contribute extra.
Election
Tidelands HOA elections will be held July 4, 2020. According to our Bylaws all of the officers and half of the directors are elected every year. Officers hold a 1-year office and Directors hold a 2-year office. This year our HOA will offer ab-sentee voting. Voters and nominees must be active members of the HOA and HOA will verify.
Please consider running for an office.
Absentee voting will require nominees to declare their interest early to allow time for ballot preparation. Absentee votes must be received 1 week prior to election. All ballots will be confidential. Instructions to place ballot in an blank envelope, for confidentiality, and then in a second envelope with the voter name on the outside for member verification. Also our newsletter is an excel-lent way to announce candidacy.
Ballots will be sent out by email or mail with instructions on how to submit 1 month prior to election, giving 3 weeks for response. Self-nominations or nomi-nations, with nominee consent, can also be made during the election meeting. Also dues may be paid at election to qualify to vote.
Spring Cleanup
Tidelands HOA will provide a dumpster during April 2020. This is an opportuni-ty to beautify our community with Spring clean up. This year HOA budgeted for 1 dumpster. Let’s try to pack it tight to provide the most space. We will open the door initially for optimal packing. Please be aware of the dos and don’ts for the dumpster.
Director Meeting
Please contact your directors if you have any ideas or suggestions for the up-coming year. Or if you want to participate in planning the Election meeting in July or the Social in November. We look forward to hearing from you.

Valentine's Day: one of the most romantic days of the year. Taken from the Internet under Valentines Day in the USA
What Do People Do?
Many people celebrate their love for their partner by sending cards or let-ters, giving gifts or flowers and arranging meals in restaurants or romantic nights in hotels. People who would like to have a romantic relationship with somebody may use the occasion to make this known, often anonymously. Valentine's cards are often decorated with images of hearts, red roses or Cupid. Common Valentine's Day gifts are flowers chocolates, candy, lingerie and champagne or sparkling wine. However, some people use the occasion to present lavish gifts, such as jewelry. Many restaurants and hotels have special offers at this time. These can include romantic meals or weekend breaks.
Public Life
Valentine's Day is not a public holiday. Government offices, stores, schools and other organizations are open as usual. Public transit systems run on their regular schedule. Restaurants may be busier than usual as many peo-ple go out for an evening with their spouse or partner. Valentine's Day is al-so a very popular date for weddings.
Background
There are a number of Saints called Valentine who are honored on February 14. The day became associated with romantic love in the Middle Ages in England. This may have followed on from the Pagan fertility festivals that were held all over Europe as the winter came to an end. Traditionally, lovers exchanged hand written notes. Commercial cards became available in the mid nineteenth century.
Symbols
The most common Valentine's Day symbols are the heart, particularly in
reds and pinks, and pictures or models of Cupid. Cupid is usually portrayed
as a small winged figure with a bow and arrow. In mythology, he uses his ar-
row to strike the hearts of people. People who have fallen in love are some-
times said to be 'struck by Cupid's arrow. Other symbols of Valentine's Day
are couples in loving embraces and the gifts of flowers, chocolate, red ros-
es and lingerie that couples often give each other.

February is Healthy Heart Month
Here are some of the warning signs of heart attacks you’ve to look out for:
• Discomfort or pain arising at the center of chest (also known as angina
• Difficulty in breathing.
Some women and people with diabetes do not have classic symptoms. Women usually have no severe chest pain, but a general weakness and discomfort. This leads to them ig-noring the problem until it’s too late. Most diabetics develop atypical (unusual) symptoms like profuse sweating or loss of consciousness during a heart attack which may be misin-terpreted as symptoms of low blood sugar levels. Sometimes heart attack is diagnosed during investigations like ECG or echocardiography even though you may not have had any history of chest pain. Such silent heart problems are a major challenge because they progress rapidly towards heart failure Other signs and symptoms of a heart attack in-clude: Anxiety, Cough, Fainting, Lightheadedness, Nausea or Vomiting, Palpita-tions, Shortness of Breath, Sweating, which may be very Heavy
In the case of women they must be careful about the specific symptoms of a heart attack
because they don’t experience the ‘classic’ symptoms. Some common symptoms women
often experience are:
• Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the centre of your chest. These pains are infre-quent and come and go.
• Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
• Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.
• Other signs such as breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or light-headedness.
• As with men, women’s most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly short-ness of breath, nausea or vomiting and back or jaw pain.
