DESCRIPTION
Can Anselm's ontological argument be inverted so as to yield parallel arguments for the exisence of a least (or worst) conceivable being? Such 'devil arguments" strike some commentators as innocuous, or as challenges which are no more troubling than other parodies (e.g., Gaunillo's "perfect island" corollary). I take issues with both allegations. Devil parodies, I argue, can post substantive and novel, challenges to Anelsm's Ontological argument.
