Under these conditions, we are able to adequately supervise all students. This is not effectively possible when parents and students are waiting outside classrooms. It is also appreciated that parents wait under the covered play area in the afternoons for children to exit classrooms. Waiting outside classrooms creates unnecessary distraction and congestion. Your cooperation is appreciated.

The works on both construction projects (car park and musicblock) continue to progress well. I was relieved to see theway school traffic flowed last week despite the obvious delayswith roadworks. I acknowledge the contractors SGQ for theirmindfulness to our needs and their willingness to adjust theirprogram to allow us to conduct our business at this veryimportant time of the year. I’m sure you’re enjoying watchingthe progress of the music block as it develops with each week.I appreciate your cooperation in not entering the temporarystaff car park and in behaving courteously towards constructionworkers and other parents during this time.

The first meeting of the P&C for 2018 was held last nightwhere the P&C confirmed their priorities for 2018. The nextP&C Meeting will be held on Tuesday 27 February and theAGM for the P&C will be held on Tuesday 20 March at 6pmto be followed by a general P&C meeting. All welcome. Thecontribution of our P&C is highly valued in this school and Iencourage you to give the P&C your full support.

“EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY, LEARNING AND ACHIEVING.”

From the DeputyThis week your children will be learning about self-regulationand how they have the power to change the way they arefeeling. The REBOOT program is being introduced inclassrooms and will be further developed during the year. Youcan assist students to identify a way to improve how they feel.Fun activities can be used to intercept negative thoughts.

Ask your child how they are feeling? Go and do something youenjoy with your children, now how do they feel? Have themdescribe what made their feelings change.

The safety and wellbeing of students are the highest prioritiesfor the Department of Education and Training and for theQueensland Government.

At Tinana State School we endeavour to contact a parentor carer via text message when a student's absence isunexplained after the first roll marking of the day.

As home and school work together, student safety will beincreased. Here are some guidelines to make this process moreefficient:
