Dear Nonprofit Leader,

The days of posting on your organization’s Facebook wall and expecting followers to see your post on their feed and then donate are long gone. Due to changes to the Facebook algorithm over the past few years, your followers now see less than 7% of your posts.

To compensate for Facebook’s new formula for determining what gets shown and to whom, it’s now more important than ever for your organization to shift its social media strategy to ensure you are reaching your audience and making it easy to give.

This resource contains step by step instructions to:

1. Create a donation page on your Facebook homepage.

2. Implement a mobile-friendly donation form that is specifically designed to capture donations via smartphones and tablets.

3. Promote a shortlink to your donation page to monitor campaign performance.

Remember... Facebook, like all social media, is a viral network between people. Facebook fundraising is powerful when you can motivate your followers to promote your fundraising campaigns to their friends, families and fans.

Donation Link Sharing Recommendations

Recommendations for donation page link sharing on Facebook

Step #1 Organizations should create a shortlink (with a service like bit.ly) to their donation page that is embedded on Facebook.

See safedonate.us/globalgreen shortlink example below that links to the long URLhttps://app.mobilecause.com/public/campaigns_keywords/23132/donations/new

Step #2 Instruct volunteers, donors and staff to share your shortlink with friends, family and fans. Mobile-friendly donation pages ensure that people can easily donate from any device.

Step #3 Monitor shortlink analytics to find out how many people are clicking your donation link.
