Tips for Demonstrating Interest For Your College of Choice

1. Visit the college.

2. Attend an information session.

3. Take a tour.

4. Participate in an interview with either an admissions counselor or a faculty member.

5. Attend local college fair and receptions. Make sure you give them your contact information.

6. For colleges of interest, open every email that the school sends and spend a few minutes exploring the links. Most colleges track the extent to which you explore their websites. Do not delete emails from colleges of interest without opening them.

7. Find the name of the regional admissions representative for your high school and contact that person to let them know of your interest.

8. Always follow up after a tour, college visit, or local reception with an enthusiastic reaction mentioning specific factors that make that college a good fit for you.

You want to make every effort to show a sincere and serious interest in the school.
