Those aspiring trainees and students who want to pass the NC-II (National Certificate - Level II) of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), here are some few tips how to pass the Computer Hardware Servicing NC-II exam. Sirlon one of the passer in Computer Hardware Servicing NC-II, for me it was very easy to pass the examination for NC-II. The exam has three assessment methods or parts: Written Report (30 Minutes) Observation/Demo (4 hours) and the last is Oral/Interview (at least 1 hour).

First Tip: You must familiar yourself about all kinds of spare parts of computer

Second Tips: You need also know how to install an operating system such as windows 2000 and windows XP.

Third Tips: You must know how to install dual boot operating system.

Fourth Tips: You should know how to create a straight trough cable and crossover cable.

Fifth Tips: Connect the straight through cable from your PC to a server. After connecting you must have also familiar in putting up IP addresses. You must connect to the server and view the shared folder and its file. Once youve done that print a document that comes from the server.

Sixth Tips: Connect to other computer using crossover, view each other shared folder and file.

For TEST II: System Unit Assembly and Disassembly

Inventory (Enumarate)

a. Materials After you disassemble the computer, identify each parts in front of the assessor and list down all the parts of PC in your test paper and reassemble again then boot up the computer.

b. Tools Crimping Tools, UTP Cable, RJ45, Flat screw & Philip screw, etch.

c. Work Area Computer Laboratory

d. Equipment 1 set of computer for PC disassembly and assembly and 1 set of computer for installation of Windows 2000 and XP.

For TEST III: Operating System Installation

For TEST IV: Cabling

a. S.T. Create straight thru cable then test the cable using network tester or PC

b. C.O. Create crossover cable then test the cable using network tester or PC

For TEST V: Networking

a. File and Printing sharing Create a shared folder on a desktop, open notepad type some information and save it on a shared folder then access it into the other PC, connect the printer and printer the document.

For TEST VI: Theoretical Questions both written and oral

You will be asked about identification and functions of the system unit peripherals and components, troubleshooting techniques and approaches.

I just want to make clear that the list provided for is not definite as what will come out in the computer hardware servicing nc ii exam. But sure it does give you a little hunch how the examination will be.

During the examination, you are required to observe troubleshooting safety. Have your own tools and installers (best if you have utilities and driver packs alongside). Use proper troubleshooting attire. Befriend your assessor - he/she wants to help you pass if your deserving enough.
