Titans Fall in Nail-Biter to Rebels MIDDLETOWN, N.J.- The New Jersey Titans fell to the Aston Rebels on Wednesday night by a score of 2-0. The Titans had a three-week break before resuming play against one of the top teams in the league this season. In a physical and competitive game, the Titans offense struggled, as they were only able to produce 16 shots on goal. Head coach, Craig Doremus, explained what went wrong tonight, and what he needs to see out of his offense in their upcoming games. “I think for our group it’s important to identify the right times to put pucks to areas around the net and to the net, and to make sure we have traffic going there. I thought today we were too cute at times. Give them credit, they do a good job of taking away time and space and getting in some shooting lanes, but I thought for us, we definitely left some chances on the table,” said Doremus. Aston’s goals came on a controversial first period goal that appeared to be kicked in by Aston’s Andrew Bellant, and on a two on one one-timer that was scored by Michael Underwood in the second period. Despite the loss, the Titans defense displayed a solid and physical performance. Titans goalie, Brandon Perrone, contributed as well. Perrone made several big saves, including some crucial saves when the Titans were short-handed on the ice. The Titans have plenty of games left to still produce wins and gain ground in the East Division. Doremus noted the importance for his team to improve upon their consistency during this stretch of the season. “I think any time you talk about young men like we have, it’s consistency. There’s been games that we have been really good and likewise there’s been games that we have been really poor. We want to make sure that we play a consistent brand and style of hockey, the way that the Titans want to play. So for our guys, it’s just a little bit of a maturation process and getting themselves prepared both mentally and physically to compete at that high level each and every day they take the ice, including games and practices,” said Doremus. The Titans have a chance to redeem themselves this weekend in a divisional matchup against the Northeast Generals, who are in their first season in the NAHL. The Titans have played well against the Generals this season and hope to continue that success. The Titans will host the Generals this Saturday, January 14 at 7:30 P.M. and Sunday, January 15 at 4:00 P.M. Tickets are available at the Middletown Sports Complex.
