WELD INSPECTION—AEIS has AWS Certified Welding Inspectors who are available for code inspections in the field and your facility, globally. WELDER QUALIFICATION—Welder qualification to all national and international codes and specification is performed. All tests are witnessed by a Certified Welding Inspector and welding variables monitored using NIST traceable calibrated equipment. AEIS is an AWS Accredited Test Facility (Structural Welds) and NYC OTCR Approved Agency for qualifying Pipe Welders. VERIFICATION AT VENDOR PREMISES—Inspections at vendors’ premises of items such as Castings, Forging components, valves, piping components, pumps, finished and semi-finished components etc. PORTABLE HARDNESS TESTING SURVEY—Portable Rockwell, Brinell, Leeb, Ultrasonic Hardness Testers. COUPON EXTRACTION (MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND WELDABILITY)—Our trained technicians aim to extract the smallest possible coupons from structures, thereby maintaining the structural integrity of an existing structure to determine weldability and mechanical properties. INSPECTION OF CRANES AND DERRICKS—Typical Inspection on Cranes requires Magnetic Particle Testing. However, our qualified and trained welding/ NDT inspectors make determinations if other inspections are necessary, thereby reducing the liability of all concerned parties. RESIDUAL STRESS MEASUREMENT—AEIS utilizes special strain gage rosettes and miniature blind hole drilling (0.03”-0.16”) per ASTM E837 to evaluate residual stresses in structures. PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING—Inspection of welded pipelines, piping, pressure vessels, other weldments by qualified Inspectors. EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS—Inspection of new and installed equipment by experienced engineers and technicians for verifying compliance to specifications/ standards. BORESCOPE INSPECTION—Inspection of piping internal surfaces for damage, flaw size measurement and obstructions are provided. POSITIVE MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION—Our state of the art Niton XL3t 700 and qualified personnel can provide accurate and fast analysis of your components for Positive Material Identification. HYDROSTATIC TESTING—Witnessing of Hydrostatic tests on pressure piping is provided. Where, necessary, this is supplemented by providing ISO17025 calibrated gages. RESIDUAL LIFE ASSESSMENT STUDIES—The actual life of a component may be more than the design life if the properties assumed were lower or the factor of safety was higher or if the plant was operated conservatively or the oxidation effects were over estimated. AEIS performs periodic examination of critical components to provide RLA. These studies are carried out by performing various routine NDT techniques such as Visual examination, Dimensional measurement, Ultrasonic thickness gauging, Penetrant testing, Magnetic particle inspection using wet fluorescent method, and special techniques such as Eddy current testing, fiber optics, in-situ replica technique to study the material degradation and the presence of micro cracks, ultrasonic testing using high frequency pulser and transducer for measurement of oxide scale, ultrasonic attenuation measurement to detect hydrogen damage, boresonic inspection using multi probes with special attachment to detect cracking in rotor bores and special eddy current technique to detect turbine blade root cracks. GROUND PENENTRATING RADAR SURVEY—AEIS utilizes very high resolution scanning radar and experienced technicians for performing GPR surveys.

TESTING LABORATORY SERVICES (SEE ATTACHED FOR ISO17025 SCOPE)

MECHANICAL TESTING The Mechanical Laboratory in Rahway, NJ has a fully equipped machine shop capable of complete specimen and fixture preparation. We can perform routine tensile and compression tests up to 400,000 pounds on our equipment, and higher capacity testing can be performed using customized solutions. Some of testing performed by the mechanical lab are: Tensile Tests, Load Tests, Bend Tests, Wedge Tensile Tests, Nick Break, Charpy and Izod Impact test, Drop Weight Tear Test, Elastomeric Bridge Bearing Tests, Hardness (Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers, Micro, Leeb, Shore), Macro-etch etc. CHEMICAL ANALYSIS Our fully equipped Chemical laboratory in Rahway, NJ is capable of performing analysis on metals and liquids. We utilize Optical emission spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, X-Ray Fluorescence, Combustion analysis and Wet Chemical Analysis, as required in order to achieve the desired results. WELDABILITY STUDIES AND ANALYSIS—Our routine weldability reports have information regarding the chemical composition, Carbon equivalent and recommendation of electrodes that may be utilized. In addition, we also perform fabrication weldability tests such as Varestraint Hot cracking Test; Lehigh restraint/ Controlled Thermal severity/ Cruciform delayed cracking Tests METALLURGICAL INVESTIGATIONS METALLOGRAPHIC STUDIES—Light Microscopy, Particle Analysis (Identification, Size, Distribution), Metallurgical Evaluation (Microstructure, Grain Size, Inclusion Rating, Heat Treat Analysis, Plating Thickness, Intergranular Attack, Porosity of Metals, Ceramics, & Composites), Coating Analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Physical Metallurgy Analysis, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Quantitative Image Analysis & Surface Topography, Fractography. FAILURE ANALYSIS—Metallographic Examination, chemical and Mechanical Testing, Non-Destructive Testing, Fracture Mechanics and Simulated-Service Condition Testing. REVERSE ENGINEERING—When documentation or knowledge of the original design or manufacture is lost or not available in the company, reverse engineering may be done to fabricate a replacement component. This is not meant to copy or do illegal things. As an example, if a shaft fails in machinery, if replacement is not available from the original equipment supplier, by studying the shaft and its material properties one can fabricate a substitute. DEFORMULATION—This is the separation, identification and quantification of various components in a formulation. If any unknown material is given, by carrying out suitable tests, it may be possible to catalogue the various material components. FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS—Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis is used both for design and for failure analysis. Finite element analysis can be applied to stress analysis and heat transfer. The main advantage of FEM is that it can be applied to complex industrial components where the regular closed form solutions

cannot be applied satisfactorily. Optimization of a structural design or a product design can be attempted in FEM analysis. This saves time and expenditure. COMPREHENSIVE TESTING PROGRAMS We provide comprehensive testing programs for many applications that require a muti-disciplinary approach WELDING PROCEDURE/ PERFORMANCE QUALIFICATION TESTING—Our Laboratory is completely geared to perform all your PQR/ WPQR testing in-house: Radiography, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Penetrant, Transverse Tensile, All Weld Metal Tensile, Charpy V Notch Impact, Macroetch, Macro and Micro Hardness Survey, Bends, Rupture, Break, Peel, Nick Break, Weld Metal Chemical Analysis. CALIBRATION SERVICES AEIS performs NIST traceable calibration of NDT equipment (UT Flaw Detectors, UT Thickness Meters, Magnetic Yoke), Skidmore Bolt tensioning devices and Torque wrenches to conform to AWS, ASME and ASTM Codes/ Standards. PRODUCT TESTING Testing of product components and assemblies to verify compliance to stated requirements.
